Experiment 0009 (My Webcomic)

Post by Jumplion »

Hey guys, it's Jumplion here.

Hopefully me "advertising" my new webcomic isn't illegal here, but if it is then delete away.

Anyway, I remember giving Icarus a slight nudge of a hint that I would be starting my own webcomic. Well, a few weeks later, it's finaly here!

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.94061

Obviously I don't have a website of my own right now, so I'm leeching-erm, hanging around at the other forum I regular at. So far we (Fanboy (the arteest) and I) have finished 8 pages ahead of the first one, and we only have page 1 up right now, but hopefully it'll grow.

The comic should be updated every Friday, but hopefully we'll get to the point where we can post twice a week.

So, wish me luck on this new adventure and enjoy what we've got!

Thanks Isolation.

Also, check out my DeviantArt page. It'll get updated the same time the top website is, just more easier to navigate I guess.

Why not sign up at comicgenesis, or one of those type of comic hosting websites?

http://www.comicgenesis.com
http://www.drunkduck.com

I think there's 1 or 2 more but these are the ones I know off the top of my head.

edit: apparently comicgenesis IS keenspace XD In that case, I reccommend Comicgenesis over drunkduck.

Interesting suggestion, but I don't want to dive too far into this, it's still very young right now. Maybe in a dozen or so more comics when it gets slighty more attention. Though if you have to pay for it, then we've got a problem ^^;

But I need to be patient, story-based comics need a longer time to grow than gag-comics.

Thanks for the suggestion though, I'll definately look into it.

I'm sorry Jumplion, it's nice as far as the thought and proccess.... but it's stick people. I know there's alot of good comics that do end up with stick people, but it just doesn't add the flash, especially since 60% of the "Fancy" in a webcomic is the presentation and look.

But keep it up dude.

(don't worry, I don't take offense to this, I always appreciate some good critique)

The main reason why I chose stickfigures is because I can't draw for my life. After I realized that "dream-crushing" reality, I started to morph the story around it. I guess I never intended to have fully fleshed out human beings, I remember my friend attempted to do that for me but it ended up looking more of a fanart drawing and it didn't fit what I was trying to do.

In my opinion, the stylized look of the stickfigures are in the 60%. After all, how many stickfigure comics are there?........don't answer that (or on second though, go ahead). I do agree, however, that since the art style is limited to stickfigures, I'm going to have to write what most comics show through visual aid. So hopefully the writing will be top notch for this kind of comic.

Just give it some time, it's only the 5th page right now. Gag-comics are easy to get into, but with Story-comics you have to invest a little time to get drawn into the world.

But anyway, for the real reason why I came here, I just signed up for a comicgenesis account and I'll have an "official" place to host the comic. I'm just waiting for them to send me my password so I can access it.

You know, the subject of your comic reminded me of something I have seen.

Being on the Escapist forums, surely you've heard of Yahtzee? You know, the guy who does Zero Punctuation, those animated video game reviews...He also makes "freeware adventure games."

well...

Just seems to be a funny similarity. Just sayn'. The comic's looking good though.

Yeah, I know Yahtzee. Watch it every Wednseday :D

Though I've never played any of his games, never really bothered. Whatever similaraties there are it's just a coincidence I assure you.

Just an update on how the comic is going along, page 8 should be posted tommorow like every friday.

Right now, I've got my own website running up! Check it out! It's still a work in progress, but so far it's up and running and looking good.

This should be one of the fewer times I'll update this thread. It seems a little unfair that I'm advertisin while other people have to pay t advertise on this site, so I feel like I'm leeching off this place for viewers. But regardless, feel free to join up my website and spread the word. Any help is greatly appreciated.
