There you go, 44. I also agree that the description should be changed.

Next time, Gadget! Next time!

At this point, i'm starting to think also that a position on TWC isn't so worth it anymore after seeing how many people prefer to use methods to increase their vote counts.

but if there was a suggestion for the quote, i wouldn't try to make it sound like Rick's comic has something different than everyone else's since it sounds like he's aiming for a average housepets comic. a normal comic, with normal people, but with pets that actually think and speak like humans.

Well, my quote makes it sound like it is something interesting, other than something that sounds a little boring.

Well, the way i look at it, i would try to make it sound like Housepets is as normal as any comic though and throw in a few small twists to the advertisement:

Ex: Babylon Garden: A Normal town, with normal families, but human-thinking housepets. Surely a good place for an everyday life with no surprises whatsoever.

something witty like that =P

We need to adв more intrigue! For example - look at desriptions of other comics:

"A clueless hero, a mischievous tigress, an angsty warrior, and a gender-confused wolf." *Twokinds*

"Rhea has gone to Hell and back, literally. Buwaro is a purple Demon with the brain of a puppy. Kieri is an Angel cursed into randomly transforming into a fluffy snow bunny. Together, they're completely lost!" *Slightly Damned*

Do you see? Intrigue!

I dunno, Ebly, you take his fanfics, apply them to the comic and vio-wait. That would mean fanservice, wouldn't it? Never mind, I take it back.

When the comic is mostly about everyday things in Rick's comic world, it's sorta hard in my opinion to give it a straight forward description when most of it is about the everyday lives of the community. i'm sure most comics like Garfield if they were trying to host a comic on TWC with the description "The everyday life of a talking orange cat with a appetite that rivals every other animal foodchain", it would be difficult to convince that comic to get viewers based on the formality of it.

Interestingly, this is the same reason why i think Rick's comic should also get better votes, but it's very hard to convince people otherwise :(

One thing that could be added to draw in the attention of the comic is to point out though that most of the comic is roughly %85 cats and dogs, being that they are, of course, the most common kind of housepets.

A purple cat, a LARPing dog, a clairvoyant pomeranian, a PETArd-turned-dog and a blue gryphon disguising as the one guy from Mythbusters. Together, they are PURE AWESOME.
And if that doesn't work:
If we hit top ten, Griffin might throw in some boobs.

against three brothers. each trained in their own special way

and yeah, i'm sure that's what Rick is looking for. Irony in his comic description. a comic with no twists and turns, just a normal everyday comic about housepets. but that, in itself, is what makes the comic so awesome.

Well, no surprises? And what about Pete and his magic? Or you think that a guy being turned into a dog is something usual?)) Oh yeah! Blue talkative magic griffins turns people into housepets every day! ;)
And what about Tarrot? I don't know, maybe Rick has some friends, who's housepets have some paranormal abilities, but for me it's abnormal. :D
Do you still think that "Housepets" is "a completely ordinary comic about animals with no surprises whatsoever"?
Ok, I know that this description is just ironical, and looks funny among all those "supermegafantastic comic about space kangaroo with boobs" and "They just met each other, and they will now have a long journey" descriptions... But face the fact, it's still boring...

While i can agree that it's not something i originally feel that'll attract a crowd as well, i feel it should keep the irony while giving some better ideas on what the comic is about.

We can't have the viewers coming to a comic expecting a certain steady of plots now when the comic focuses on alot of different things now, can we? ;)

most of the other comics also deal with a single-minded plot, while Housepets focuses on the every-day aspect pretty much and usually have been around for years.

I just wanted to give the right description for the comic...it is a description isn't it? I just wanted to change it to how I see the comic so that other people would get the idea what it is about. If I went to a friend and told him the comic was about "A completely ordinary comic about animals with no surprises whatsoever" then he would wonder why he should read it. If I told him a few things about the comic, then he might look.

I tried this, actually, but you've got to be specific about how you mean it.

"What's Housepets?"
"It's a completely ordinary comic about animals with no surprises whatsoever" (then you give them a grin. an ironic grin, somehow)
"...Wait, what's Housepets? Give me the link!"

Yes, but that only works in real life. It won't work when you're alone, and read the description on TWC - no grins, no faces, nothing. It has to be changed.

There are like 70 tchillion comics registered, this is going to be hard.

How about "Subjectively better than the comic above"?

I don't think that'll fly, just my preference to stick with "objectively" and "below."

And yes, I realize I am not the final arbiter. Not really an arbiter at all, in this case...

"Objectively better than the comic below, for there are no surprises in this normal comic whatsoever"

Reader: ...say what now? *reads*

EDIT: I also somewhat agree about the Objective part. it would be funny how you could make the comic sound awesome from other comics without comparing, but also put a wittiness towards the end of it to make the viewers think "It's great because it's... normal? That does not compute!"

EDIT#2: Dude, i got it. TV!

So it's April and i notice that Housepets is still in the 40's ranges now. but what struck me as interested is the other comics that were above housepets are now below it.

I'm firmly believing now it's what i said earlier: This comic will eventually hit the top. but i was wrong when i said by April :(

i'm guessing this comic will eventually hit the top 10 though by Christmas of 2011. gonna cross my fingers in the meantime. *Crosses fingers*

Currently we're at 45, and we still have plenty of time to gain some ground. Let's get to it forumites!

On a semi-related note, anyone seen Isitfunnytoday.com? It was mentioned a little over a year ago in "News" and I wonder if we should go for that again? Doesn't get a huge amount of traffic, but...
