Guys, the title of the entire thread is wrong: it should be "One-Offs Set #21: I got nothing".

Also, I had to check on Wikipedia what's Pi day.

Exactly. Rick likes to wait until the beginning of a month to start arcs, in my experience.

I somehow doubt he'll put off the arc for another 2 weeks. I always just thought he did a week of one-offs, which if i'm correct means the new arc will begin friday (although he may stretch it to start monday so he starts on a fresh week)

Awesome comic. I loved it.

Why does Peanut's expression remind me of the one he had Down at the farm?

Poor Grape, she is just forcing herself to eat that pie, isn't she?

And this continuity has me confused... I love it, though.

Hmmm, pretty much this. Love the face expressions (Grape) in each panel

I also don't know what's Pi day when I first time read about it, we don't celebrate something like this in Poland ;) But after I read about it on wikipedia, I think it's quite good idea ;)

And again I'll say, what I said earlier in other thread, Rick will do, what he wants to do and, most important, what he thinks will be suit to his vision of comic, so just let him to do what he wants and we'll see, maybe there will be a comic about King, maybe not. It depends on Rick vision and we must trust him ;)

It's not really an international holiday, it's pretty much one of those holidays that if someone didn't tell you about it you'd never know or care that it existed....

Also i love the new title Kyderra

Yeah, you right, there're always some holiday specific for concrete country. I've never checked it before, but I think that for example we've got a lot of holidays that aren't in other countries, cause a lot of them are conncected with our history or religion.

Like something to celebrate freedom from germany?

Poland doesn't really have a long history... Unfortunately it's pretty much always been taken over by other countries (prussia, germany, russia, austria). If i'm not mistaken the period of time from world war 2 to now is the longest period of time that poland has remained intact

Well, I don't mind will the Arc begin soon or there will still be one-off, because both of them are different and they have their own things to entertain the reader :)
And this one-off is really fun. I really like how Grape nails the pie with fork like she was stabbing someone with knife. I guess I would be grumpy too if I miss the π day.

Well, we can say this is true, also true is that our history is no so long as for example Germany, France, Itally, but we were in the past times strong country, which was important in Europe, we weren't in the whole time small, weak country which is neighbour of Gerrmany, Austria or Russia. We looked like this at the end of 17th Age and most time of 18th Age until we were partition between Prussia, Russia and Austria. Earlier we were strong country, in some time I can even say that the strongest in this part of Europe (I think about central and eastern Europe).

But we also have a lot of holidays connected with our history. I don't know exactly why it's often connected with things which aren't good reason to be proud of them. And I'm not saying this, because I'm patriot, I'm far from this, I'm trying to be objective ;)

Ok, this is end of my off-topic, in some way this is connected with current comic's topic, but I don't want to litter forum ;)

Never until this point have I realized that the pets don't always speak English. If I had more time, I'd go back through the archives and check when it would have made sense for the dogs to be barking at each other.

Hah. It's cute they are going to Heathcliffs (which i first spelled Heffcliffs by the way. Bah!) <3

i'm sure what IceKitsune is trying to say is he just wanted to see it to believe it. I'm not sure how many people thought otherwise though.

@Sleet: only time we ever seen the dogs barking was in one comic. and it was Fox

Yes basically this; don't get me wrong I still don't like them together however. Yes it does have to do with my ship but the other point (and actually bigger one) is I quite frankly don't like Tarot.

I figured they were barking and it translated it for us. Perhaps Mr. Sandwich was saying "barking" in a metaphorical sense.

Haha, another great strip :) Peanut is just faultless

And I must say that beside I prefer Grapenut, I want to see Peanut's date with Tarot, because it could be very interesting meeting ;) But we'll see on the monday what happens ;)

Awesome strip. I love it when they start acting like pets in our universe. It always cracks me up.

I loved when Peanut called Mr. Sandwich the rude one.

A date at Heathcliffs sounds like the beginning of an arc. Too bad it's just another one-off.

This strip has made me wonder if animals in the Housepets! universe have ever had their own languages. Or have they always used human languages? Has this question come up before?

I agree with IceKitsune, i'm certainly not a peanut and tarot fan myself. I'm just too hardcore of a Grapenut shipper to like them together.

But I've also gotta agree with Kitch, if Rick wants to keep Peanut and Tarot together (which he no doubt does) they at least need their own arc (and 'We're Snowed In' doesn't count) and we probably should see more of them together

I think it's more or less just trying to make a point about dogs in real life barking across neighborhoods (especially at night), and if Mr. sandwich said "shouting" instead of "barking" then that point wouldn't come across

Dogs bark. That's not a language. I bet Peanut barks when he's angry or something from time to time, too. Mr. Sandwich is rude because he calls Peanut's talking "barking".

I'd love to see an arc with Peanut and Tarot; we never see them together. But first, that King arc like you mentioned, Rick! :D
viridis wrote:This strip has made me wonder if animals in the Housepets! universe have ever had their own languages. Or have they always used human languages? Has this question come up before?
It's more than likely that it's true, though I doubt Rick will ever mention one. I'm sure some animals in this universe refuse human dominance, culture, and generally any influence, so they could speak a language of their own — ancient or not. It's also likely that a language was devised centuries ago by animals, but whether it is still alive, dead, or extinct remains unknown.
