Celeste sighed quietly. "My mum and dad are...extremist. They live for doing dangerous stunts," she paused to grimace. "Which they call "that rush of adrenaline". Anyway, they were hoping something interesting , or dangerous, or irresponsible, or ridiculous could be found here. Something to keep up with their dangerous addiction." She rolled her eyes and rubbed her temples, trying not to get worked up. "There was no one left in London for me to stay with, and so viola! here I am."

Gian hugged his fathers leg like he would get lost if he didn't, but Gian was already restless. He wanted to show his dad so many things! But he didn't want to leave Roxanne on her own. He got an idea suddenly as he grabbed his little bottle of paint from his hip. He held it up, it was almost empty. "Fatha'! I 'ave a place ta' show ya'... Roxanne, I wanna show ya' too. D'ya' still 'ave time?" He asked, letting the bottle lower. He needed a refill, and he would only show his dad and Roxanne where he got his special green paint.

Ulysses chuckled. "Dear boy, no need to insist with me. And if miss Roxanne wants to join us, I'll be too happy to have her alongside." He smiled politely at the collie. For some reason, she seemed to have the same temper of Ghianna, her same...ways of acting self-confident...
he really liked this female.

"Well then it's settled Gian, you'll show us what you want, and we'll be able to talk meanwhile. Lead the way!" the collie smiled. Spending some time in the company of the young wolf and his father seemed like a pleasant way to occupy her time.

"YAY!" He called out, drawing attention to them from all the others in the surrounding crowds. With a hop, he moved towards the exit. "Come on, come on!" He happily waved them over, wanting them to follow. He stopped and tried to calm himself down, knowing if he didn't he might very well run off and leave them behind.

Luckily, Ulysses had never stopped keeping himself in shape, or his first day with such a hyperactive cub could have well been his last. "Coming, mongoose in wolf's clothing!" And he ran after Gian. He hoped he wasn't being rude to Miss Roxanne, but for now his son was top priority!

"Hey boys, don't leave me here!" Roxanne called out as she broke into a run herself. She was lucky she was of a herding breed, it made it easy to keep up with the labrador and the wolf. She ducked between tourists and their pets as she left the hotel lobby, careful not to bump into anyone. She almost failed though, when she brushed past a cat and barely avoided colliding with her. She seemed to be talking with a german shepherd. "Sorry!" she called out to them over her shoulder, as she kept running towards father and son.

"I'd rather enjoy that---ah!" Celeste stepped back, as to not get trampled by a dog barreling past her. "Please, miss, watch where you are going!" she called to her, brushing imaginary dirt off her with annoyance. Turning back to Adel, she said, "Well, I'd rather not see whatever she was running from. Let's go, before I actually get run over."

Gian giggled as he waited by the door, watching as Roxanne caught up to him and and his father. With a push, he opened the doors and stepped out. He stretched as his face as hit with sun, and he closed his eye's enjoying the warm sensation of the wonderful bright orb in the sky. He started to walk, heading for the brush where it looked as though a rough path had been carved out of the tree's and bushes. The grass along that area was dead like it had been walked on and would never really be able to grow back again thanks to high traffic.

Gian blinked as he looked back at his father, smiling as he was called a brave warrior, causing him to puff his chest out and walk taller. Though he stopped and laughed a moment before tilting his head to the side. "Um, I dun kno' 'bout da' militar-ii'... this is jus' de' fastes' way to de' bunnies place..." He pointed down the path. "We 'ave to take de' long way around them, since they dun' like me too much..." He rubbed his muzzle, remembering when he got caught with one of their own. That was a painful day, and he never really could smell anything right again after that. "They cut me preddy' good... now food smells kinda... gray." He blinked, up at his dad, still rubbing his muzzle.

He smiled a moment later, and looked away, letting his paw drop. "I guess it's mah' fault though... I broke de' rules... but, no one said I wasn't allowed to give de' girls there gifts.."

Ulysses kept a neutral face, but his eyes glowed, for a moment, with rage.
Of course he knew the rabbits could be fanatic about the mixed blood creatures, but hurting a cub?! His own son?!
Not to mention that depriving a canine of his olfactory system was almost like blinding a human...
"Well, son, looks like this time someone else is gonna be cut, if they'll disturb us..." He then turned to the collie. "Miss Roxanne? Please, stay near us: Them 'bunnies' can be really the nuisances..."

"Are they really that dangerous?" Roxanne asked, as she caught up with them. As she saw noticed the cut on Gian's muzzle she shuddered and winced, now knowing that it was not a wound from an accident but inflicted on purpose. "Chieftain Amelia told me a few things about the rabbit tribes, but I didn't think they'd do something like this. At the very least, doesn't this island have a private security force?"

"Well, last time I checked, it had one," Ulysses chuckled. But it's easy to slip your guard, here: Security doesn't go beyond the resort's borders, unless for escorting the scientists, and the atmosphere here is definitely relaxed, and the bunnies know better than giving problems to the humans or their pets. But some of them are bold enough to break some rules, bully other animals or humans around...Troublemakers. They gave me and Ghianna a hard time, when we were escaping from the wolves..." He cringed his teeth at that bitter memory

Gian blinked tilting his head to the side as his father and Roxanne discussed the security. He shook his head no though when his dad looked back at him. "Hurting de rabbits will only prov' that we are no bedder then them." He smiled softly. "De elders taught me that... said if de rabbits bother me again, I should run, and not fight."

At the mention of his mother again, Gian twiddled his fingers and smiled softly. "Hey fatha'... was... was I named after motha'?"

Ulysses took Gian's paws into his. "Yes, son. Ghianna means 'The Dire One', and she was the proudest of them Reds, she always stood up for what she believed in. And she'd call you a chicken at the mere idea of running away from a rabbit..." He sighed. "But if we had lost time fighting instead of seeking shelter by the Lycaons, then you wouldn't be born. So, I guess your elders are right on...keeping a safe distance from the bullies." Then his voice took a more serious tone. "If you break the rules, you are at fault, but if a bully does the same, you have the right to defend yourself. Just use whatever force necessary and never show fear. Be Gian the Untameable, not Gian the Runner." On those last words, he smiled.

Roxanne smiled. "Well I'm sure the rabbits won't give us any trouble, not when they see that there are two, fine, strong males in our group, right?" She motioned towards the path Gian brought them to. "Let's go, you still want to show us something, don't you Gian?" She started walking. "So how did you meet Ghianna, Ulysses? The wolfs are very reclusive, as I've heard."

The black labrador nodded. "It wasn't me who met her...quite the contrary, in fact. Ghianna, as I discovered later, was running once again from home. This island is big, and she hated to be confined to her territory. I was just another tourist she ran casually into. I always loved to explore new territories alone, despite my parents being against that, and it was during such a walk that I got to know Ghianna.
"I can't say it was good ol' love at first sight, but we *were* intrigued in each other: I never met a live wolf, you don't get to know them when you live in a city, safe for the zoo, and she never met a pet from the continent who wasn't afraid of her.
"I was at the beginning of my vacation, I was in my prime, and I had to spend two months on Meriweather Island. I spent that time with Ghianna, she showed me everything she could of this wondrous place, including the so-called 'Atlantis Ruins', and we climbed the Blue Peak until we could see the perfect oval of Sky Lake under the Milky Way."

Ulysses sighed. "It was that night, on the mountain, that I knew I had fallen in love with her, and..." He blushed, shaking his head. "Well, the rest is history. When she it was clear she was bearing our son, she was cast away, but some of them Reds wanted to...harm her too, so we ran to Salisgrave Village, where at least she was safe to give birth to Gian..." His voice faded, the labrador not wanting to remember the pain, the anguish he felt when Gian was born, at the cost of his beautiful Red she-Wolf... "I miss her," he said in a trembling whisper

Roxanne laid a paw on Ulysses' shoulder. "I'm so sorry." She gently pulled the labrador into a hug to comfort him.

Ulysses returned the hug. Hm, she smelled like cinammon... "Thank you, he said after breaking it. "But at least I have Gian now, he... He's so much like his mother, he's the reason I kept myself going all this time, hoping I could see him again. I'm happy enough my wish was granted."

"Trust me, I'll mind," Celeste muttered quietly. She heaved a sigh, but followed behind Adel. She was able to keep up with him, but it wouldn't be long before she gained a stitch in her side and started panting. "Why...exactly are we following her...again?" Celeste panted.

Ulysses' ears perked up. He then turned toward the approaching sources of noise and talk. He thought he recognized Adel, the German guy, but the cat didn't look immediately familiar, although, aboard the Sea Dragon he *had* tried to socialize with all the pets who would get down to Meriweather...
Ulysses waved at the couple.

When she noticed that Ulysses was waving at someone the collie turned towards the approaching pair of pets. Roxanne immediately flattened her ears, it was that cat and the dog she almost run over. Why did they follow us? Oh no! She must be angry!

Gian smiled softly as he listened to his dad talk, his ears flattening as he heard him get to the part of his mother dying. He looked at the ground, wondering about what lead his mother to leave her village in the first place. The Salisgrave's always said if he ever saw a wolf outside of the green circle, he shouldn't talk to them, and that they were only there to hunt prey they had injured. Was his mother hunting when she bumped into his father? Stopping when he couldn't hear foot steps behind him anymore, he looked back and saw two more approaching Roxanne and his dad. He didn't recognize the two, so he just moved to his father and stood next to him.

Celeste waved off the question, "No, I'm fine. We've nearly caught her anyway." She slowed to a trot, approaching Roxanne, Ulysses and Gian. She waved politely at Ulysses, though she didn't really know him. Maybe she'd seen him before...
"H-hello," Celeste said, trying to catch her breath. "Sorry to...approach like this, but we" she gestured to Adel and herself, "just wanted to...to..." she bent over, paws on her knees. "Please, excuse me for a...moment. I'm a bit...winded," Celeste explained.

"Hello, Gian, Roxanne. It is nice to meet you. If I may ask, what is it you are here to research?" he asked Roxanne.

"Do you know why the security will become lazy, here? Because the German Lycaons do all the security outside the resort, here. They provide chaperoning, escort, guides, pretty much everything a pet needs to venture throughout the island in safety. The Red Wolves will never move outside their territory, and so we are left with them danged rabbits." The sun reflected on Grimm's sunglasses in a dramatic fashion, as if the environment itself wanted to compensate for the man's lack of emotions. "From time to time, some hothead will try to sabotage the resort. I don't know how, one day they made it into the kitchen and do a real mess: they're smart, they know that without ways of cooking the food we could as well be without any food. We had to organize cooking expeditions by the Lycaons, and Mr. Spencers made it to advertise that inconvenient as part of the adventure." He then pressed his finger to the German Shepherd's chest. "You better watch out: their pranks may be not life-threatening, but we don't need a bad advertisement. Business must run smooth, here, kay?"

Roxanne stepped closer to the wheezing cat. "Are you all right? I'm sorry about earlier, I was just trying to catch up to Gian and Ulysses, and there were so many people around. I really should have paid more attention!" When Adel spoke up she turned towards the shepherd. "Oh well, allow me to properly introduce myself. I'm Roxanne Cooper, me and my father are here with the WWF. We're part of the zoological team, our research involves helping the local population, studying the wildlife, and hopefully making contact with the wolf tribe." She glanced at the still panting cat. "Would you like some water?" She fished out a bottle from her backpack.

Gian smiled up at the two when he was introduced. He decided to remain quiet and let the adults talk. It's usually how it worked in the village, so he would assume it worked here as well. Glancing over his shoulder, he noticed some movement in the brush, and walked over to it. The brush continued to wiggle and bend as Gian sniffed, trying to tell what it was. With his damaged nose though, it was a little difficult to tell. So, naturally like he always did, he would make a guess. "Boar!" He shouted, lunging into the brush and disappearing for a moment. The brush thrashed wildly for a moment, but settled after a bit. Gian walked out, holding a snake by it's head, looking confused as he sniffed at it. A big snake, bigger then him anyways. It was wrapped around his arm and squeezing tightly, but Gian didn't seem to notice it, shaking his arm lightly as though it would just fall off.

Since he was squeezing it's head, it's mouth was pryed open. It's fangs were fairly large, but really served no purpose as this kind of snake wasn't venomous. Gian was busy unraveling it from his arm, grumbling about how it wouldn't let go. And once he had enough unwrapped from his arm, what was lose wrapped around his leg. He shook it and his arm lightly, before he fell over from lose of balance. It unwrapped it's self then, and slivered away since Gian let go of it's head. He sat up, and scratched his neck fur. "Dung beetle..." He muttered under his breath, like someone would say a curse word.

Reese continued on his way through the crowds of the resort guests that had departed the cruise ship, running a bit to catch up with his parents. He looked around and saw several others conversing with each other. The cat sighed. He couldn't see what the big deal was...but secretly, he sometimes wished it was easier for himself to approach others. He slowly shook his head as he continued to follow his parents into the main building of the resort.
Heh. Look at that... I started an actual Housepets! fan-fic.

Mareks wrote:Gian smiled up at the two when he was introduced.

Ulysses watched intently at his son, without uttering a word. And when the snake slithered away, the black labrador laughed heartily. "My word, you sure are a brave one for one so small! I know big pets that would run away screaming like girlies at the mere sight of that snake. And you were actually ready to jump at a boar?" He shook his head, but his eyes would shine with pride. "So tell me, miss Roxanne, how long are you planning to stay here? Enough to stand the presence of an ol' hound?""

"Olà!" said a voice from behind the cat. "You sure like you need a helping hand, or paw as you like!" The voice of a silver-furred fox, a male, coming at the cat with a held out paw. "Name's Streaker! First time, here, right?"

Reese jumped when the fox shouted out his greeting. The cat turned quickly to face him looking up at his parents who were no longer there but had left him behind and were now busy consorting with the receptionist at the other end of the room. He turned back toward the Streaker. "Uh...yeah..." he replied as he backed up a bit from the advancing fox. "Space!" he called out holding his paws up in front of him and leaning away from the fox.
