Flint shut his eyes in fear of the Fox before him but then, not before long the light that shined through his eyes dimmed. He re-opened his eyes, seeing a large figure blocked his sight of the Fox and casting a large shadow over him. Flint just sat there breathing heavily, trying to regain his ability to hear, to know what is happening. He was hoping that the bear would ask the Fox to leave but of the few words he could make out entailed quite the opposite. Flint hope sank as the bear was trying to reassure him that the Fox was harmless, probably the only reason it did not do anything was because he was with him. Something Flint has learned is to never, under no circumstances, trust a fox. This fox did not even sound sincere. "You want me to believe that?!?" he rebelled with a shaking voice. Flint tried his best to pull himself back up to his feet but he still felt dizzy and uncoordinated and just toppled over once more.

"Now how do I start this...", the bear wondered deeply yet audibly. "What would I gain for lying to you?", he asked back without much thought. "Now I don't know what happened in the past that would make you fear foxes, but at the same time with all that has happened between me and Mina, I have all the rights to believe in what I told you.". He then stood up and offered his hand to Flint, "Now I can't force you to believe in what I told you... So instead I ask you, do you believe I would lie to you?", smiling as soon as he finished the sentence.

"I believe you, I just don't believe that!" Flint interrupted quickly in a panic at the very start, pointing to behind the bear. Flint thought that the only reason that the fox had been so nice to the bear was because he was bigger then it was. "I believe you! You have been so kind to me." Flint said in a low voice, trying to make it so the fox won't hear. "But I do not believe you may be right about it." His voice was still stuttering, unable to calm down due to the given situation. Flint grabbed the bear's paw, hoping to be pulled up and hopefully nothing else. All this felt like a gamble now, but what else could he do. His leg itself was also starting to ache again probably caused by the panic he was in.

Mina watched on, impatiently. Then again, she had the patience of 6 year old child with ADHD. She folded her arms and her tail swished back and forth, "Flint, was it? Flint, I am not a feral fox, I'm a pet fox. I have no desire to harm you at all. I know my kind has a reputation for being deceitful, but trust me, trust Salvadore, I will not harm you at all."

Salvatore pulled Flint up to his feet, lightly brushing off the snow that had stuck to the squirrel's fur. "It's just as Mina said, most animals here are pets who have lived with humans and other pets for most of their lives.", said Salvatore as he adjusted slightly so that he blocked a straight path from Mina while giving the squirrel a clear view of the fox. "Mina. . .", Salvatore paused for a moment. He closed his eyes and produced a calm smile before he continued, "Mina here might have a fearful aura about her right now because, as much as I can guess, had just been bombarded by snowballs.", he claimed after analyzing a trace of packed snow on the fox's fur.

===========================================

"We go them on the run!"
"Jailors! Chaaaarge!"
Various battlecries roared from the children as they advanced through the final lines of the pets' defenses. The rain of snowball unfaltering, the beastly snowball plowing though everything still and nor children brandishing jacketfuls of snow started appearing on the walls and pouring heavy snow on both Ash and Brill.
Then everything suddenly stopped.
"So Agents A & B, do you surrender?", asked a child who stood before the two with her tinted goggles and a puffy snowhat.

When Flint was pulled up, he instantly leaned over to one side, forgetting to have grabbed the stick back, but the pain was currently the lesser of his concerns. "B-But.....But...." Flint attempted but then paused. He did not feel good about being told to trust a dangerous stranger with what could be his life. He wanted this all to end, he wanted it to go back to how it was a few minutes ago. But he knows he can't change time back, and he knows he can not run away this time. He felt trapped. They were both waiting for him to say it, and doubtfully would give up in trying to do so. Flint looked at the agitated Fox for a moment and shuddered as he started thinking of the past. "F-Fine.........I trust you. But please ohh please do not hurt me." Flint said in a sad voice, feeling as he was about to cry saying it. He did not know what else to do.

Mina nodded, "Flint, I assure you that I won't harm you." She said. She smirked at Salvatore, "I do dread that part of this season. The kids tend to get into snowball fights with us pets, and I always seem to be caught in the crossfire."

"There, now you have her word. So the only thing left now is for you to give her a chance...", elongating the last syllable, the bear then fell silent. "Wait that doesn't sound right...", he told himself as he rubbed under his chin. "Let me rephrase, *ehem*. So now that she has given you her word, as a witness, I can hold her accountable to it so that in case she goes against it, I can take action. Not that I remotely believe that Mina would though.", he clarified and ended with a smile to the squirrel. He then turned to the fox and flicked the snow off her fur, "I like to believe that one day they'll know the weight of their actions and come to their senses, so you should forgive them for now.", giving a dramatic pause before continuing, "After all, they are just children who knows no better than throwing snow as fun. So long as they're not causing any real harm, we shouldn't take the gift of happiness for them. It is the same gift we want for ourselves right?". After giving the fox a similar smile he suddenly continued in a lower more fatherly tone, "But it's a shame they pelted our town's princess with snow so I'll be sure to have a word with their parents at the next meeting.", he said to her before stepping back and giving the two access to each other. "So, are we all friends then?", he asked in a loud cheery voice, directing most of the sound to Flint though allocating enough so that Mina wouldn't find it hard to listen to it.

“That depends, what you will give us…” Brill looked towards Ash, and gave a wink. “…if you don’t want me to reveal our hidden weapon!” His tail was wagging viciously, as he stood back up. His wide, menacing smile showed what he was planning was truly despicable. He was still covered in snow, although he didn't care.

Mina nodded as Salvatore helped remove the snow from her fur, "Yes, I do know that they are young and playful. They just shouldn't attack so suddenly. Had I been wearing a parka or a jacket, I might be more inclined to participate in their snow war." She said.

Flint just stood there with his ears drooped down, he just listened to them talking to one another. Paying full attention to the movements that the fox made and the tone of voice she used. Flint was having a harder and harder time holding himself up as he stood still without any support. But once the bear suddenly turned around and asked a question in a loud tone, Flint got startled and feel over, but only onto his knees. Luckily, the walking stick he was given was laying in the snow right in front of him in arms length reach. Flint stretched out for it the best he could without falling completely over and caught hold onto it. He placed one of the ends straight into the cold snow and used it to climb his way back up to standing. "I'm Ok." Flint said quite a bit embarrassed, though quite glad he has the stick back. He tried his best to make out what the question the bear did ask him, but he really did not catch what it was. "Umm.....can you repeat that please?" He asked towards the bear.

Ash stood up as well, pumping his fist in the air and grinning like they'd already won. "Yeah, our secret weapon!" he echoed. Still grinning at the kids, he lifted a paw and behind whispered to Brill, "What secret weapon are you talking about again?"

================( Salvatore, Flint, Mina )=====================

"That I'm sure.", backed the fox's words before the bear turned back to the squirrel. "Uh, I can't really just repeat it because it would sound odd. Though all I meant was since nothing's between you two now, maybe you two could affirm that you two are friends.", clarified the bear as he remained in his position on the two's sides.

=================( Asher, Brill, Kids )====================

"That doesn't work. . . You just watched too many movies.", said the blonde haired battle princess with great disappointment in her tone. "Anyway, could you two clear out for now? It's the annual winter games and it's going to start in less than an hour and we still need to regroup after that mock battle.", she requested in a more graceful tone.

=================( Ethyl, Pierre, Hermes )====================

"Tempos!", called out a collie to Pierre and Ethyl as he skipped to their side, "How are you two today? Been hit by snowballs yet? It kinda sucks that we can't join in on the winter games, no? I'm sure the pets could form one great team if given the chance.", he continued. "So how's it been?", he kept going, "Took any good films lately? You seem to be always carrying that camera.". The collie finally stopped with that and just awaited for either feline's reply. lifting himself up tiptoed, rocking back and standing on his heels then back to tiptoeing, over and over again.

Flint gulped as he looked at the Fox's tail swaying back and forth as she said that, but really, it was very apparent that this situation would not end till he tries to show trust, or make it look like he does. Flint looked back at the bear and then at the Fox. He really was terrified of trying this, but if anything ever went wrong, he hoped that the bear would be able to pull him away. Flint limped over to the Fox very slowly but surely with his head down, making sure that the bear was securely behind him. Once only a few feet away and could see the Fox's feet, he looked back up and got startled by the image. He has never let a fox get this close to him......or him get this close to a fox before. He, as quickly as he could, tried to shake off the feeling of the sight and slowly raised his free paw up to be straight in front of him, signifying a handshake. "F-Friends?" He said, trying to keep his hand from shaking as it was.

Mina smiled at Flint as he approached, offering his hand for a shake. She reached out and took his hand very gently, shaking it, "Yes, friends." She said. She smiled, but her tail flicked again, 'Dirty feral hand touching my beautiful clean hand...' She thought to herself subconsciously. She was a bit of a neat-freak, and did not enjoy touching dirty things. She thought ferals were dirty. But she would bear it to help make the squirrel feel more calm.

"Now that wasn't so hard, was it?" said Salvatore as he watched the two shake hands. Looking at his watch he notice the long hand meet the short hand at 12, "Seeing as you two just met, would you care to join me and Flint for lunch Mina? I think it would be a very good way to know each other more. Though I do need to stop by the grocer fist for some salad dressing.", he invited the fox with a casual voice.

"Perfect, the grocer's just around the corner.", Salvatore said as he started walking to the corner. "I shouldn't take too long, unless there's a long line which I doubt would be there seeing as almost everybody's in the Sunday Market.". The bear then smiled and turned the corner straight into the store.

Flint backed up slowly, relieved that his hand was free and stood ideally by as the Fox and the Bear were conversing. When the bear walked away and around the corner, Flint looked back at the Fox and noticed that he is alone with it. Flint started to grow in stress and ran over to where the Bear just disappeared to. "Wait! Don't leave me!" he yelled and disappeared around the corner.

Mina smiled and followed after Flint and Salvatore into the store. As they entered, she almost laughed at the thought, 'We must look like the setup of a bad joke: So a bear, a fox and a squirrel walk into a store.' She thought to herself as she looked around the store. She hardly went into the grocer, as her owner did all that sort of shopping.

(Just to clarify, Flint never entered the store)
Flint looked through the window near the door, seeing the bear go on with his business in the store and noticed as the Fox also entered, which put him at ease. It probably was not safe at all to be out in the open as he was, as someone might see him, though he has not seen any human at all yet now that he thinks about it. Probably should stay on the safe side......... Flint thought as he looked over at the alley in which he has hid away in before. He made sure neither the bear or the fox was looking, and quickly limped away, over and into the alley way and sat down against the walls and in the shadow of the building, hidden from view behind a dumpster. I'll just wait till he comes back out. He thought to himself.

"Why if it isn't my favorite bear. Come in come in, to what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?", the storekeeper said as he beckoned Salvatore to enter.
"Thank you sir.", said Salvatore as he navigated his way from the door to the counter, picking up a large bottle of thousand island dressing on his way and setting it on the counter when he arrived. "Just the usual, I always run out of it."
"Indeed you do, and I see you brought Lady Mina with you today. Looking mighty pretty as always too.", commented the store owner as the vixen entered his establishment.
Salvatore dropped a few silver and copper tokens on the counter then looked behind, "Indeed she is.", he chuckled as he watched Mina look around the stocks. "Does anything come of interest you Mina?", he asked while clearly noticing the squirrel's absence, I wonder where he is right now...

"I guess this is all we'll be taking then.", Salvatore informed the shopkeeper who had just punched in the jar of dressing.
"Thank you for your purchase.", said the man as Salvatore took the bottle before he even reached for the plastic bags, "Oh right, no bags."
"It's all for the best. Let's go then Mina, it's bad to keep the stomach waiting.', said the bear as he escorted the fox out with him.

Outside, Salvatore looked around for a while. Failing to see the squirrel, he started calling out, "Flint? Are your still here?", hoping the squirrel would hear him at wherever his hiding spot was in.

Flint heard as the Bear called his name out. Wow, done so soon? He thought to himself as he pulled himself up. Flint limped out from inside the Alley way, looked down both sides of the street. Seeing no one else around, he waved over to the bear and his accomplice and slowly walked back over to them. "Got what you needed already?" Flint asked, quite surprised by how short the trip to the store lasted.

"Yea, I am ready to go back. Thanks again for having me over." Flint said shyly. Glad that he was never asked why he was hiding in an alley. But then just recalled the conversations the Bear and the Fox were having, indicating that the fox would be following them all the way back, and even staying for lunch. Hope the fish is enough to satisfy it... Flint thought to himself, very displeased with the outcome of all of this.

Flint was a bit curious of why they were walking a different path but did not wish to ask and draw any attention to himself. But right afterward, he got what he rather not have. "The woods? Well I don't know what could happen there that would effect you.....other then my being here that is." Flint laughed shyly. "The woods are quite calm and quiet, but nothing much happens that would interest you." Flint stated, but felt compelled to add. "But umm.....yesterday night, a fox I've never seen chased after me if that counts as news...... I sure do hope it will not stay, it has been quite safe in the woods without it." Flint said with a low voice and shuddered, trying to make it sound like not much of a big deal, though he really felt it was himself.

"A fox you say?", the bear tried to inquire further, "Could you describe it? Personality, items, injuries or anything that can be used to easily describe it? It could be a lost pet as more and more people are starting to take foxes as pets without knowledge of their tendency to escape.". Salvatore waited, but quickly remembered another issue, "It was also brought up that habitat destruction are causing some foxes to migrate so this may be quite worrisome since foxes aren't really famous for their self-control... Though I don't think that applies to you Mina.", he turned to the fox and apologized in that manner.

"Umm....I don't remember how it looked like, I got a vivid image of it in my mind but I really can not think of any specifics, I was to busy running." Flint remarked, not really ashamed by saying he ran away as it is something he more takes pride in. Flint paused as Salvatore did and waited for him to speak as he seemed to have something important to say. Unfortunately it was grim news. "You mean more of them will come?" This news was very concerning. Flint felt that he had enough problems to coup with. The lack of food, keeping Salvatore from finding out he stole food from the town the previous year, and the Fox by the name of Mina to name a few. Why is all this happening to me..... Why now? Flint stayed silent for a bit, deep in thought.

Mina nodded as Salvatore and Flint talked. As he spoke of foxes, her tail flicked a bit, a small amount of anger growing through her fur, but she smoothed out her fur, calming her, "Yes, I do pride myself on having much more self control than others of my kind." She said as she brushed her tail with her paws. She calmed herself and nodded, "Not all foxes are alike, though. All of the pet foxes that I know are more well-mannered than the feral foxes that I've met, but they still have a lot of their natural instincts and feral tenancies. I would guess that I'm a little different, as I was born a domestic, rather than being born a feral and later adopted." She said, going a bit on a tangent, as she was oft to do. She looked to Flint, "More foxes may come, but that is not that likely. Chances are, that fox who chased you has long since forgotten about you. The foxes who live here, Brill and I, will not harm you. I cannot be so certain about that new feral fox around here."

"Well, I do hope you're right about that Mina...", Salvatore trailed off as he passed by a small police watchpost. "There's a new fox here? Well you did say feral so I guess that would explain why I heard nothing of it... But just to be sure.. Wait a moment.". Salvatore entered the watchpost and after a relatively short discussion with the watchman he exited the building and re-entered Flint and Mina's company. "Well, I just asked the local law enforcers to keep an eye for any stray fox in the city, though I guess it must be friendly enough if Mina knows about... Oh....". Salvatore quickly turned to Mina, "By the way Mina, can I have a better description of that fox? The search would be easier if I give them specifics."

Mina nodded, "Well, he is an attractive arctic fox, with light gray fur. His fur was slightly darker in a few spots like his hand and belly. His fur was also slightly longer on his chin, like a human beard, and his ears were a little long. His name is Souji." She told Salvatore

The bear listened closely to Mina, quickly noting in his mind the detail she gave, Arctic fox, with light gray fur. Has a few spots with darer fur, notably his hand and belly. Has slightly longer fur on his chin, his ears were a little long. His name is Souji. "Alright, I'll be right back.", he said as he reentered the watchpost. Upon reemerging, Salvatore was quite deep in thought Souji... Souji... Souji... Clearly it's not a local name so it must have been from somewhere else. If it's a wild Arctic fox, then it must have come from up north, but the name wouldn't make sense as it's clearly an East world name.. Might be born from escaped fox parents, but then that would mean it would know a lot about human culture. Seeing as Mina had met him to the point of getting his name, I would say he is quite relaxed in towns.... He kept to himself as he joined the two's company again, though this time staying a bit behind them as he continued mulling over more theories he had formulated. Darker patches.. Of blue legacy probably...
