As long as they aren't too big, I support it. I don't want them stretching the lines. Or at least not much.

This is the smallest size he made:Sleet wrote:As long as they aren't too big, I support it. I don't want them stretching the lines. Or at least not much.
I guess they could be smaller but I wouldn't push it any further than that.
In general when I use them, I just skip a line anyway to avoid stretching it.
Re: Housepets! Forums Site Feedback & Suggestions
a simple explanation would be:CaptainPea wrote:Ambivalent=No particular feeling one way or the other, basically abstaining from the vote (of course, you could also do that by not voting.)Psykeout wrote:abi-whatzit=apathetic?
And Diss, I see this poll expires tomorrow. Are you perhaps thinking that this thread could host new polls every once and a while?
Ambivalent = both positive and negative
Neutral = neither positive nor negative
they are not interchangeable
you realise if we were to do this we'd have to, you know, ask him first. you can't really decide this without him, silly
I was going to make a joke but then I did.

Re: Housepets! Forums Site Feedback & Suggestions
No, I meant ambivalent. I considered including an option for "neutral" or "other" but left it out because then we'd not have the acronym ANY.

Re: Housepets! Forums Site Feedback & Suggestions
you could really have messed with people by having Ambivalent, Neutral and Yes. Then it's ANY, and then people can't say no.
but then i probably would have changed the poll

I voted no, because I think the emoticons would be waaaay overused, and it's get annoying one day.

Re: Housepets! Forums Site Feedback & Suggestions
Honestly, I'd be happy if the old smilies weren't replaced. I think the old ones have a nice quality. I chose 'no' before thinking it through though. So, if the old ones aren't replaced, replace 1 'no' as a 'yes' please.
Re: Housepets! Forums Site Feedback & Suggestions
I'm on a dial-up connection you guys. :/ These smilies are already making my forum pages slow to load. In fact, I need to disable them on my control panel when I get the chance.
Dial-up and images (large or small) are not a good combination.

Poll Results
Thanks for your input, everyone. If implemented, the Housepets! emoticons would supplement, not replace, the default ones. A "more smilies" link would be created in your posting form beneath the last row of defaults. Clicking this link would create a pop-up window containing the new icons.
I encourage everyone to keep brainstorming ideas and offering feedback so that our community will continue to grow and excel. (If you're not comfortable openly suggesting something, feel free to PM me.)
- Ambivalent: 25% [ 5 ]
- No: 30% [ 6 ]
- Yes: 45% [ 9 ]
- Total Votes : 20

Re: Housepets! Forums Site Feedback & Suggestions
Most of the forums have this and I'm sure there's a reason why this one doesn't, but why isn't there a quick reply option? Seems like it could be convenient.

@TH: Nevar! Muahahah--*cough* *ahem*
My bad, but a quick reply option would be somewhat inconvenient...HOWEVER, it does open up a new option: quick chat bans; As in, if you're quick chat banned, then you can't post anything BUT the quick chat options which are available to you. It's useful to control moderation of language and age-restricted comments. An example of this system can be seen in Runescape, where it has worked effectively (no one wants to be permanently or temporarily banned, right?).

I wanted to know what a quick reply option does, and I still do...

The ones proposed in the poll haven't been implemented (yet?) I don't think. To use them anyway, you have to link them like any other picture.

That's the little thing that shows up next to the URL bar. The main site, for example, has the bone and fish logo.Tha Housedog wrote:A what?Alex M. wrote:I think the Forum should have a Favicon.

Agreed.Alex M. wrote:I think the Forum should have a Favicon.
It could just be the same as the main site's, couldn't it? This seems logical.
Also, Psyke... mmmmmaybe.

i agree with pea on the count that it could be the same as the main site's.

Well, it is like a reply form that appears at the bottom of the thread. So you can type your reply there immediately, instead of clicking the reply button THEN type your reply.CaptainPea wrote:When I said this, I wasn't pointing out a problem with the plan, I was asking a technical questionCaptainPea wrote:What does it do? If my explanation is unclear, then look at this. This is basically what a quick reply is.

Why do you even need more than 350 messages? Just clear out your boxes.

What do you consider an important message? I've been here for two years and some change, I'm a moderator, and I communicate with people via PM fairly frequently. I've emptied my inbox a few times, now, and never held on to a private message.

The box deletes old messages automatically, so clearing it manually isn't too important.
Some forums have a folder for saving messages. Is that a possibility?

Re: Housepets! Forums Site Feedback & Suggestions
As far as a "quick reply" box, I think that's an option from the admin control panel, but there's not really a reason for it. If you're in that much of a hurry, post when you have free time or use the IRC for more nearly instantaneous communication.
Increasing the size of your PM inboxes would take up space on the server and honestly, there's not a clear need that I've seen. I'll look into the other suggestions regarding the private message system.

and then it would be like, whats it called? where you could watch it, like, right there? without having to click a link?
