Sockpuppeting the comments section

. . . is most DEFINITELY not allowed and is a bannable offense. It will be added to the forum rules as well.

We have people who do that? On comment threads for a funny animal webcomic?

... why?

Haven't you heard? Bashing webcomics is almost as popular as enjoying them.

So, wait, if I understand correctly, people are pretending to be you, Rick, on the comments section, to bash housepets?

There's a fellow carrying on a debate with himself about the merits of the current story arc, supporting his own positions and generally saying Rick is a big dumb-face.

That's obnoxious. Debates are fun, but debating people who aren't trying to make logical points or who go for endless repitition is no fun at all - and why would anyone want to debate with themselves?
But over-analyzing things is half the fun!

Not debating with himself, agreeing with himself to make his position look more viable than it was, in order to stir up controversy because he's drama-starved.

That's really quite pathetic. Too bad you can't send them into a real christmas special.

Next time on Housepets: Joey develops a split personally between he and this cat suit adorned alter ego.
He then goes off to argue that 'catlover' haters are dumb, siding with himself in the debate.

"Max, what are you doing?"
"Some idiot on the Internet made fun of my theory that Petir is secretly a member of the order, so I'm writing a reply."
"I see. 'Tomcat34', is that the guy?"
"Huh? No, that's me too. No one was agreeing with me, so I'm pretending to be someone else in order to drum up support for my position."
"..."
"Hey Grape, where are you going?"
"To talk to Peanut. I've found that there's generally little drama in a game of Animal Crossing."

You can totally use that Rick, it's okay.

you people scare me more than the people you talk about sometimes O.o

isn't... isn't that technically considered trolling? doesn't that fall under that cumbersome category?

not necessarily.

it's how Sinder described it. Basically, you create additional accounts to support your own claim by making it look like people are agreeing with you, when in reality it's just one user that's creating multiple 'people' to make it look like he's getting a valid argument.

Trolling is just one person trying to enrage or at least start a heated debate with someone on the community, usually going on endlessly and can be annoying.

You know you're doing a good job when people start comparing you to Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.

Presumably that would be a set of names - although I don't think it's really necessary, and at the moment there are problems reaching older comments anyway.

Ebly you wait until Housepets is read aloud in Drama classes across the globe.

.. Wow that was a horrible image I just gave myself, of some weird drama teacher making students dress up like animals and reenact the comics in a stuffy YE OLDE ENGLISH voice.

No, seriously.
It could be like one of the alt languages, only awesome as opposed to functional.

This topic is pretty much done serving its purpose, is completely derailed to boot, and there's a new topic for the derailment in this topic. This thread is done.
