Since people are going to be coming in more now it might be good to have some moderators around here. Who is up for it?

I've moderated on a few different forums before. I was also a admin for a few CS:S servers, one DoD server and a 3rd party mod for half-life 1 called "The Specialists". I do not abuse powers, and will plan on rating users, posts, threads etc by rules and not personal opinion.

Also, Ebly for mod. :>

I've never tried, and haven't bothered participating in that many forums. This is the first one that's actually been fun. Given that, if you really need someone I'll try - but I wouldn't suggest asking me unless you're desperate.
But over-analyzing things is half the fun!

I don't even know what moderating a forum entails. I was made a mod on an extremely small forum (one which is now dead), where my main role was to delete spambot posts if I ever saw one and the admins weren't around. It was fun, actually, sort of. But on another forum I was on, being a mod apparently entails resolving drama, and I don't know crap about doing that. I can't say I'm particularly motivated to involve myself in drama, anyhow.

Plus, I'm a n00b who doesn't have 100 posts yet. :) Good luck to anyone who takes on this job, though; may you prevent this forum from becoming a place I hate and stuff. (That second forum had so much drama from buttwipes trolling other users for the lulz that I felt a little betrayed that any of my friends would want to STAY there. x.x)

the role of a moderator is to basically make sure the users stay within the confines of the rules, warning and keeping an eye on the forum, it also entails teh basic upkeep of the forum with regards to pruning topics and keeping things organised, it is a thankless job and one in which you will /always/ be seen to be in the wrong...... trust me on this, i used to be a mod on the FA forums until i gave the position up (admin drama etc....) currently a mod on the UK fur forums as well as an owner of 3 channels admin of 2 and operator on various other channels on IRC (furnet network).

I would love to be a Moderator. Cleaning up the forums sounds like a job I'm willing to talk. (Trust me, I have the patience for it, and time on my hands. If you met both my brothers you would be surprised how I put up of with them.) Well anyway, I guess I'll have to wait and see if I get the job or not.

It's a thankless job when the regulars you cultivate are a normally bitter and aggravated bunch, anyway. I've been trying to avoid doing that: Step one is to realize that the internet is not a democracy, it's a series of tiny dictatorships.

haha true, being a mod on other sites has cultivated quite a lot of cynicism in me :P the sarcasm?? well...i'll put that down to being british :P

anyway, even though i'm brand-spanking-new here i would humbly like to put myself forward for the role.

*Raises hand*

I'd love to volunteer to be a moderator. Please consider me when you're making your final decisions.

While I do often put off an aura of silliness, I can be very serious when I need to be. I have moderated another forum before, and have been able to use the powers responsibly. (It's oh so sweet banning spambots.) In addition...as you've probably seen, I'm on here all the time, possibly an unhealthy amount of time.

Anyway, good luck picking from all these great candidates.

So when are you going to volunteer yourself so Rick can pick you, huh?

I volunteer because I'm quite obviously here too much and also because it's probably completely and utterly expected that I do and I wouldn't want to disappoint, but my reccomendations are more along the lines of Sinder, Buck and Dissension even though you and Dissension aren't the same person.
I was going to make a joke but then I did.

I volunteer. I'd be glad to help out. I already have previous moderating skills, and I'm sure I could be useful around the forums here.

Also, just as Buck and Ebly, I spend an unhealthy amount of time on this site >_>.

I'm also volonteer, especialy to Comic and a bit Not a Comic sections (because otherwise I will have no free time and the english isn't my native language). Since I translate the comic in French, I know more and more the story.
I'm administrator of a French php forum about a series of books (Redwall) and I'm known on a forum that has imploded on having me go out and be able to communicate between different camps with diplomacy.

But that's true there are a lot of experimented volonteers here. To you to decide. :)

(And if all the volunteers were appointed moderators? )

I have the time and patience, so I might as well make use of it. I also see this as my opportunity to contribute to the forum I care so much about.

I may not be one of the most outspoken members of the forum, but that most certainly does not mean that I spend less time on it. I am constantly checking the forums, and refresh it every few minutes. What can I say, I have an addiction to this comic and this great community. I read through every topic in all The Comic, Not the Comic, and Roleplaying and fanfiction. I have not ever been a moderator before, but have a firm understanding of the responsibilities that come with the title. Everyone has to start somewhere. I am also familiar with the rules, and will not make any decisions based off of personal opinion.

*sigh* Like I have said before, I realize there are those more qualified than I am for the positions, but I would be honored to have this opportunity to help out.

Drama AND smut? The forum I had the displeasure of being trolled on just had drama! Adding smut would only make things worse for me. :[

I would throw my vote for Foxstar. He/She usually posts when it counts =P

But i also wouldn't mind signing up for the position as well. I mostly check roughly 5-15 minutes per day before work and as far as modding goes, i know when to use my judgement.

Interesting, although I never ever want to be a moderator, topic name "So, moderators" caught my attention, because it sounds like when Master from Doctor Who says: "So, earthlings.... basically... um... END OF THE WORLD *big smile*".
Not that I'm suggesting that moderators will bring end of the world on Housepets forum... :D
