So this 'College' thing

Post by BeyondUshuaia »

Hah, so I keep hearing people referencing their college. I got this crazy idea to see if we could guess each other's colleges. (unless you want to remain anonymous- I'm cool with that)

but as a show of good faith I'll go first. (mine's kinda cool)

Our whole academic campus is on the national historic register. And we take one course at a time.

Haha close, but not really. Yale is a university, and thus has normal class schedules. Remember, I take one course at a time, one after the other. Its a fun system.

I have no idea XD My college is probably the most abstract one here so I'll just tell you: I goto Boston University's Center for Digital Imaing Arts (cdiabu.com)

Why is that abstract? It's not directly part of BU, They just give us money, and we put their name there... more or less (Though my ID says BU so I get discounts EVERYWHERE lol)

It's a 9 month college, I came here in September and will graduate in May, and I don't get an actual degree, I get a certificate degree ;)

Our class system is similar to yours I think, we have modules, a module is a week long, and we focus on the same thing, 8:30-4:30, every day for a week. :P

Yeah, that's about like mine. Each block lasts 3 1/2 weeks long with a 1/2 week break between each. I'll give another couple of hints though. We're in Iowa, and Its a Liberal arts and Sciences college.

well i know something like nothing about brisbane's teritary education facilities so i really can't guess that one unfortunately. :c

on the upside i DO know about adelaide's
c:

but i like remaining anon, unfortunately.

anyway, i'm at school 8:30 to 3:30 so i get an hour less than ferret
i've noticed that the less time you have to go to school the more intensive schooltime is and the more homework you end up getting.
everyone goes through (almost) the same curriculum. so just because, say, in france people get five billion years of holidays and hours of time for lunch doesn't mean they learn less. they work hell harder when school's actually on. or at least that's what my french insider says. |U
anyway i just find that cool how it works out like that. that's all i'm saying. like is it better to have longer hours and more relaxed work or less hours and more intensive work kind of thing.
I was going to make a joke but then I did.

Our schools pretty muffins and cookies intensive, We learn about what a 4 year college teaches... in 9 months... And we don't have homework by the way.

okay
mentally change that to 'tends to be', then.

frankly though i tend to do that automatically. when i'm interested in knowing something i will know that something.
i've had second year psych students actually ask me questions in their subject.
...and half the time i have to say i don't know but that's not the point. whatever.

I demand that this topic be changed to include universities

Oh, and on the note, the tiny university in Washington Heights, if anybody has ever heard of that one.

What? I've only gone to universities. They're basically the same but bigger.

And sometimes you finish a comic in the middle of a lecture class because you're going to pass no matter what you do

I am well aware of this. I see though that my sad little attempt at humour failed. There's always next time.

But ya, university can be just as bad time wise. I've had semesters with classes from 9 until 8, followed by theater at 9 until as late as 1.

That was an amazingly fun year [/sarcasm]
