Housepets on Youtube?
So guys, especially the ones who were thinking of a radio show
What would we need to do to make single-comic shorts for Youtube?

Couldn't tell ya Rick... I might be in the show, but I couldn't tell you what to do. Sounds like fun though if we can make it work....

Re: Housepets on Youtube?
Voice actors, an animation software, a short script and probably a lot of time.
How fluid would the motions be? Would there be fur texture? How about physics of details, do tags dangle when their owners walk?
With the most basic of animation, which would look like cardboard cut out animations, there's still the matter of the voice, unless it's going to be in speech balloons or speak in animalese.
EDIT: Also, will new characters be introduced? (Start with those like what chicken before going up to more complex characters?)

NO animation. It would just be simple panel shots of comics that already exist.

Re: Housepets on Youtube?
Oh, my apologies. By shorts I thought you meant short animations.
"Clean" strips would be helpful so that viewers could see when pets start talking by introducing speech balloons only when they actually talk. Makes it look less cluttered and easier to follow.
The voice actors still remain a large factor though. You probably have to hold the audition yourself.
and someone with a very good knowledge on transitions, it could make a picture video appear slightly animated.

Hyper, talk to Teh_Brawler and Ebly about that, they're heading the voice casting (not actual voices, but they decide who goes where).

Oh. . .
Also, one of the easiest to try would be the one-off, one panel strip involving Peanut, Bino and the mailman.

Hmm, I do not know whether you know but someone has already done this on YouTube for Housepets, I watched it myself.
Was that an illegal video perhaps?

No, I didn't know about about it. (anti-climatic slump O /\ o)
Well I think I'll correct myself instead of editing my above post.
Clean strips may or may not be cleaned of bubbles, the text could just appear once it is starting to be spoken.

Re: Housepets on Youtube?
Basically? Just a series of voice actors with microphones and an editor to put it and the comics themselves all together. A person who can edit in sound effects - such as the squishes and stuff - would also be a good idea.
Re: Housepets on Youtube?
I would suggest getting in touch with the guys who set up the VG Cats Adaptation With No Name. It's a quality radio adaptation that has done a large number of strips so far.
At the most essential level, you would need nothing more than some slideshow/presentation and voice recording software, to provide voices and do transitions from panel to panel (whether or not you have fancy effects, like fade-ins on voice balloons and whatnot, depends on which piece of software you happen to use). Going the extra mile and providing a musical score, sound effects, etc. would require a little extra effort, not to mention some slick sound editing.

Who cares? YouTube comments are probably the single dumbest place on the internet, literally. I don't think I'm exaggerating. Any video is going to have stuff like that. It's not like it's a good reason to not do something. What harm do comments do if you can always just not read them?

Re: Housepets on Youtube?
Rick's idea is quite feasable, and I'd be the first to watch such a show.
In Italy, it was done a similar thing, on RAI TV channel, in an old show called 'SUPERGULP-FUMETTI IN TV', with comics in which the only 'animations' were the ballons appearances and the zooming: here's a sample with a most famous comic, Alan Ford

Hmm, again you might want to watch the Housepets promotional video that has already been made and shown on YouTube by someone else, you could be making a virtual copy of that video.

Re: Housepets on Youtube?
I assume that some of us auditioning for the radio show are already half way towards what you're after Rick.
For example, this isn't full comics usually, but just the characters I was auditioning for; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfFsEIePQzM (I've worked on some of my voices since then, so that is the older version of my Keene and Miles, but you get the picture)
Then there's a few other people who have done a similar thing; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIuUHgh8 ... re=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBd6Jq2Y ... re=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BN11r7QV ... re=related
There are a lot of other voice actors who auditioned for various parts, but these are the ones I could find that were on Youtube and showed the comic as they spoke. But as people have already said, talk to Ebly and Teh_Brawler. They've got every audition so far, I think.

Let's do it like the VGCats Adaptation with No Name!
Let's just do some random comics shorts and give them voices. It also needs to be funny. What do you think?

Or did i just read that wrong.
We also need someone with editing skills (for transitions, sound sfx, video effects such as animated fire for example.)

Re: Housepets on Youtube?
Hmm, I was wondering, how is it to hear voices put to your characters Rick? Have you already thought what they might sound like, or is it a case of "That voice suits him well" and "That doesn't really fit"?
