Re: What's today?
At first I wanted to give you this one from my home, but I think even for Germans it would not be too easy to get (if I would remove the year and other easy to get information).
So I have looked for something different and found the following. What has happened today (15.01.) some when in the past related to this picture?
--
PS: If somebody wants to guess the first one, they're welcome but the second one ifs the real question.

Oh, yeah, sure. Sorry, forgot about it.CosmicCoyote wrote:So out of curiosity, what was the first one?
That has been the Grote Mandrenke (Middle Dutch / Lower German for "Great Drowning of Men"), also called the 2nd Saint Marcellus' flood. A storm tide that started on January 15th 1362, reached the highest point on the 16th (the day of Saint Marcellus) and ended on the 17th.
Some chronicles say that about 100,000 people died during this flooding, but it is assumed that this figure is way too high. The flooding had some impact and changed coastlines not only where I am from (the picture I already posted) but mostly also in North Frisia where it removed islands islands completely.
Here's a map of the area how it was before the flood and a google maps map how it's now:

Re: What's today?
Huh. I'm actually familiar with the second one in the early-mid 1600s because of family ties (the van Nordstrandts), but yeah, I'd be stuck guessing pretty much forever on that one.

Alright, this'll probably give it away.
Re: What's today?
Well, that one was a lot easier than the ones I saw the last time.
The Beatles make their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, performing before a "record-busting" audience of 73 million viewers across the USA.

Re: What's today?
Ah, finally found something.
What has happened today, 09 March?
These little comic strips are your first hint:
Little translation of the texts:
1. -
2. "I don't doubt your past is impeccable - it's just too short for me."
3. In Italy // "Oh my dog, all Italian words I know from hit songs in Germany seem to be some kind of declaration of love."

Re: What's today?
This was a fun game. Let's get it going again!
I can't find anything on that guy, sadly, beyond him being an Argentinian architect, thanks to my lack of Spanish skills...
Anyway, here's an easier one to get us going again. What happened today, January 27, related to this picture?

Oh, nice idea to revive this game!
Joannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart was born 27.01.1756 in Salzburg.
Yeah, that was an easy one. The solution was basically written on the picture. ^^Hlaoroo wrote:Anyway, here's an easier one to get us going again.

Most important thing I've learned from D&D?
No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

That's The Beatles, Buster, and Render's puzzle was that that was the day they did their last public performance on top of the Apple Records building in London. ^^

Fully correct. I only have the year to add here, it was 1969 - the year with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walking on the moon.Hlaoroo wrote:Wooow. Kids these days. Okay, maybe I can add something more: The concert was aborted after just 42 minutes because of the traffic chaos it has caused.
