Also, would drawing them on paper and then scanning be fine?

I was just wanting to know, are we restricted to just drawings or could we do other art mediums like watercolor or whatever?

I don't speak for Rick or Diss but I see no reason why it has to be limited to a single medium. I know at least one guest comic in the past was done with watercolor.
