Rockbox is an open source firmware for mp3 players, written from scratch. It runs on a wide range of players.

Finished Ports:
iPod Video/5G or 5.5G
(and all 320x240x16 targets)

A) Use the Rockbox Utility

Currently working on:
(220x176x16 targets): Sansa Fuze v1/v2, iPod 4G Color and iriver H3x0 (will be released 11/11/2010)
(176x132x16 targets): iPod Nano 1G/2G (will be released 11/12/2010)
(176x220x16 targets): Sansa e200/e200v2 (will be released 11/14/2010)

I do believe this belongs in the Media Median.

I don't doubt that you can do this at all, but I think Anthro is right.

Alright, I have the iPod Video 5G/5.5G part done.
I think it will also work on any 320x240 LCD screen.

Working on the Sansa Fuze v1/v2 port tomorrow.

Is this possible for the latest iPod Nano? not the touchscreen one though.

No, it's only possible for the older iPod Nano 1G/2G. I wish it were though.

If you're talking about the 30GB or the 60/80GB iPod Video (5th gen), then yes, it's supported.

Finished the main menu, the iPod 5G port is officially DONE.
And it seems that music file is glitched... it's MP3, not MP1.

Also, I need help figuring out this license stuff I don't understand.

I think you're talking about the 120GB 6th generation Classic.

It would help to see a picture of what yours looks like. The 6th gen and 5th gen have a noticeable difference.

No, I'm starting with the iPod 5G, and then moving onto the Nano 1G/2G. [2G is now stable as of version 3.7. ].

It hasn't been ported to the iPod Touch.
However, they've started porting it to the Android OS as an app, I think. I don't really know. They might try doing the same for the iPod Touch/iPhone OS if they're porting it as an app.
