Tobee, I'm rather jealous of that creek you have. :P We have a lot of them here, but none are near my house. X3
And we have those same little white flowers here too. :3
And the pictures where the grass is more of a brown-ish color, well, that reminds me of North Carolina during the summer when everything is dead because it hasn't rained in a month. :P

Hiking pictures! And some abandoned stuff that my dad and I found in the middle of the woods:

And before you say anything, I do go out! Just not to take pictures in specific, hehe. I might take a few pictures of my local park some time soon, with it being Summer though.

I've been thinking about getting into photography, including portrait-type stuff. To that end, I've been brushing up on my picture-taking and photo manipulation skills. Photo was taken roughly two-and-a-half years ago with a compact digital camera; I edited the picture about a week ago. Since this is my first touch-up attempt, I'd appreciate any and all feedback, especially constructive criticism!

Camera Information: Polaroid i835
8.0 Mega Pixels
3X Optical Zoom

Am likely going to switch to a DSLR in the near future. I've been looking at a Canon EOS Rebel T3 (1100D). Any thoughts on that kind of thing?

One trick that usually helps quite like guidance, especially when you have little idea of the technical side, is to go to pages like Flickr and view photos that you like. Then you can see the camera that took that photo, that will give you an idea of the performance of the camera.

About cameras. A Reflex camera is always great but even so, you can take great shots with a compact camera. Obviously the picture quality will depend on other factors, but the sensor size is key. A bigger sensor equals a better quality picture. The sensor size is usually on the specifications, in the camera box, on its official website, and if you can not find, it find it in Google. Remember, the sensor is critical, do not underestimate it.

There is a "best camera" for each type of photographer for each type of photography. So do not forget: when you go to a store and ask the manager or salesperson for advise, give hints, indications, tell him about your photographic tastes. That is the basis, that is what will help the seller to keep you pointing in the best possible way.

(Is this your mom?)

I personally think it looks very natural. You didn't go overboard with the touch-up'ing, so it doesn't look like you're shaving decades off a person and/or making the picture blurry/too phony looking.

You did a really good job! :D

Your sense of balance is phenomenal. And you took this on a phone? My gosh, you've got some skill. How did you do the lighting?

Agreed! :D

Cm4F, did you use spot or center-weighted lighting? Something like that?

Haha, I just used the phones editing tools to make the lighting effect. The effect name was "Lomo."
It gives pictures a higher contrast and gamma with stronger and darker colors, while putting a faded black frame around it.

I was in Maine with a friend when I took this. The original picture was kinda bland so i went through some of the effect Mr. Droid gave me and thought this one was really good.

Frankly speaking, I don't know anything about pro photography, but I really like the picture, Cm4F. The colours of the chairs really accentuate the whole image. (^_^)

Alright, I've been trying to update my 3 year old DA with more recent photography and have failed miserably from procrastination and work, so I'm just going to post it anyway. The roman numerals may be off on some due to me removing a couple.
I'm still trying to improve my low-shutter shots, so some of them might not be that good. I'm also trying to take a majority of my picture in monochrome.
These are some of my favorites, mind I'm really bad at giving titles, heh. ^^;
Dark Tree, Tree and the Sun, Sunset in the South I ,Fries, Smoky Mountains V, Dark Leaves, Frost V, Blue Shores III, Quiet White Cat I, Plant Shelf
I really need to know, are my watermarks distracting? Also, any opinions and critiques would be nice.

Hey everybody! As y'all know, I have dial-up at home, and I have very limited high-speed internet access.

But guess what I recently discovered! I can Skype voice call with someone and then share my screen, which eliminates the need to upload photos on an image hosting site. :3 (I've tested this with two different forumites- it works, surprisingly.)

I really do have a lot of photography I'd be more than happy to share with everyone. I've got everything from fireworks to landscapes to flowers to random (epic) pieces of artwork and pottery in my school's library.

If you'd like to see it sometime, send me a PM and we'll work on a date. (It will most likely have to be on a weekend.) And then we can talk about what specifically you'd like to see. ^_^

I provided the picture of the geese because some people don't like ambulances as much as I do. They were near the emergency, anyway; a young man was overcome by heat while playing basketball. The basketball courts are near the pond where those geese were swimming; I took that picture on my way back from the exciting stuff.
