Photography Thread

Post by Beagle »

Since there is an Art Thread for fan art and drawings, this is the Photography Thread.

For all the pictures you've taken, you can link to them here and show off your amazing shots and cameras. :D

Rules:
~ All the regular rules of the forums apply. No nudity, inapproprite pictures, etc.
~Don't link to pictures of people. It wil cause too much stress, and technically it's illegal to upload pictures of people without their permission. So let's not go there at all, shall we? If you want to post a picture of yourself, there is a thread for that. Find it and use that one.
~ Don't use .biturl or .tinyurl Those two have been linked to too much spam and phishing schemes. Use links like Photobucket and Flickr.

Also, if you'd like to share or talk about cameras and photography tips, you may do so on this thread as well. I know there's a Tech Talk thread, but most of those posts are about computers and such things.

So I'll start. This is my photography of some butterflies in the shrubbery of my yard (they are hard to shoot properly- which makes it fun), and the fireworks display at my town this past 4th of July.
http://s919.photobucket.com/home/Beagle0205C

For an artical on photography tips (specifically fireworks):
http://blog.photobucket.com/blog/2010/0 ... rial-.html

And I use a 10.2 MP Samsung SL420 with 5x optical zoom, in case anyone wants to know.

So... go ahead and show off some pictures! :D

@ Dissension- Wow! Those are some clear photos. What kind of camera are you using?

@Ebly- Woot! I have a Mod's support. XD Thank you. :)

@Tobee- So that's Sweden? Oh goodness, pretty. =) Reminds me a little of Massachusettes.

Hey, does anyone know how to set a camera so there's no color distortion and loss of focus when taking pictures indoors?

All that snow... still reminding me of my first home state. You're making me homesick Tobee. XD

If I have time later, I will post some pictures of the NC snow on my photobucket. And maybe some of my most recent trip to Virginia a few weeks ago. I'm at school right now though.

I have a band-aid on my thumb for reasons I don't remember.

And thanks Dub, I like that background a lot too. The little bit of stone wall on the top-right corner ties that gritty look together well in my opinion too.

I've been getting into doing photos with 50/50 placement of topic and space recently, as well as banner style sizing. I think it fits well

FINALLY, someone I can learn about taking better pictures from! XD

@Spargo- That's a great picture! I love the light effect from the the dawn and dusk, especially when it's a little cloudy outside. =)

@Aaron- Wow! What setting did you apply to that photo to get that effect? And your camera rocks when taking pictures of the falling snow. :D I wish we had enough snow here for me to test MY camera!

ISO, Exposition, Shutter Speed, Aperture, Flash, etc.

I'd recomend you to take a look at this for some basic info about the camera settings.

Hmm. It's very blue and it makes colors unatural. Have you checked your whitness balance setup in your camera?

Also there's too much space above the golden star. You should've made it closer to the upper edge, or find another perspective. Then, there would be more tree and technically your picture would be correct.

Well, It's kinda hard for me to explain this in english. I hope you understand what I'm trying to tell you :)
