 Re: NationStates
I think it says a lot that my nation's animal is the forest-frolicking kangaroo, currency is the Jub Jub, and apparently, burgeoning market is in Baskets, Cheese, and Trout-Farming. ... I didn't even know you COULD farm Trout!

 Re: NationStates
The Federation of Polvasnia"The Federation of Polvasnia is a fledgling, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its burgeoning jaguar population. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 5 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often. The large government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Religion & Spirituality, and Social Welfare. The average income tax rate is 21%. A large private sector is led by the Trout Farming, Book Publishing, and Woodchip Exports industries. Crime is a problem. Polvasnia's national animal is the jaguar, and its currency is the clancil." Thank you for getting me hooked on this, Ctcmjh. Oh, and I think "trout farming" means raising trout in an actual compund for such.

Oh. Well. ... Trout-Farming High-five! That aside... I may be biased, but I still prefer the Kingdom of Nonsequituria. ... And yes, that is a taco on the flag.

 Re: NationStates
... Aw... I feel bad. I got a message from a guy that signed off, 'your servant, [insert name here]'. It seems like standard recruitment stuff, but... I still feel kinda bad to be spoken to so reverently while I'm waving a flag with a taco on it and spending my heard earned Jub Jubs on baskets full of trout.

 Re: NationStates
Anyone in a nation that they'd like to recommend? I'm getting spammed with nation invites, and, quite frankly, I'm not sure what to do.

... Oh my. Banning cars and installing surveillance cameras has increased the average civil rights for my Kingdom... But, somehow, changed my manufacturing plants from Cheese Making to Arms Manufacturing.
...
Whaaaaat?!

 Re: NationStates
Inoffensive-centerist democracy. Or in otherwords a country that can't make up its mind http://www.nationstates.net/nation=akalaisThe Republic of Akalais is a huge, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its compulsory military service. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 271 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often. The large government juggles the competing demands of Education, Defence, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 24%, but much higher for the wealthy. A healthy private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Furniture Restoration, and Book Publishing industries. Radio shows frequently feature people denouncing religion, urban high-volume mailers now receive their mail via chauffer-driven limousines, the government is promoting multicultural values with the new 'Just Be Nice, OK?' initiative, and all footpaths have tollbooths. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Akalais's national animal is the lion, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the pride. Akalais is ranked 728th in the region and 34,350th in the world for Largest Public Transport Department.

 Re: NationStates
So... I made Kangaroos a protected species... Outlawed extreme political groups... And allowed for a SMALL portion of the rainforest to be cleared in order to make room for mines and excavation, as a sort of economic compromise.
...
And somehow Arms Manufacturing has now overtaken Basket Weaving as the nation's primary business Sector. ... Oh, and in other news, Cheese making has also replaced Trout Farming, working it's way back into the top three, and there's also a--
How does this make sense?!

 Re: NationStates
I made a joke nation. The dictatorship of Sillytown! | | | | Quote: The Dictatorship of Sillytown is a tiny, economically powerful nation, notable for its absence of drug laws. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 10 million are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.
The enormous, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Social Welfare, and Healthcare. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 24%. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Gambling.
Political activists are routinely executed, Harry Potter books are banned, employers may fire workers without giving any reason, and college students make ends meet by selling their kidneys. Crime is moderate. Sillytown's national animal is the circus clown, and its currency is the Chuckie Cheese Token.
Sillytown is ranked 1670th in the region and 36,138th in the world for Most Beautiful Environments.

As you can see, it's more messed up than silly.
