 Dungeons and Dragons Topic
I want to know who here plays Dungeons and Dragons. I play it, and I've been playing for a little over a year. I know that's not a long time, but I really do enjoy playing it with my friends. I have played a few variant d20 systems, which are Legend of Zelda d20, Star Wars d20, and Bleach d20. In D&D, I play a Dante the Human Ranger, who has recently become a traveling merchant. In Star Wars, I play Donovan Drendo, a Human Noble and a high ranking officer in the Galactic Empire (We decided to go Dark Side). In Bleach d20, I play Akita Ousosu, a Warrior Soul Reaper who loves hunting hunting hallows. I DM for the Zelda d20.
So I want to know some of your d&d experiences. Did you dm? What was your character? What kind of campaign were you in? Was it fun?

 Re: Dungeons and Dragons Topic
not much D&D happening in my country. So far to my knowledge, there is only 2 in my entire campus of I don't know how many students that actually play it.

 Re: Dungeons and Dragons Topic
I haven't really had the opportunity to play outside of this forum. That could change in college, but, we'll see.

Well, what about it don't you understand? It's got a bit of a learning curve I think, especially for noobs with no guidance whatsoever.

 Re: Dungeons and Dragons Topic
:3 Heh.
My offline group was really a case of the blind leading the blind, with my players teaching me more than I taught them really. Since they pretty much memorized the rulebooks and I clung to my DMG ;A ;

 Re: Dungeons and Dragons Topic
They have card games, board games, paper crafts, model kits, offline/online games, multiplayer rps, and who knows what else. Its like, a whole universe of stuff out there in the d&d world. Its intimidating. Like Chuck Norris counting to infinity. Twice.

 Re: Dungeons and Dragons Topic
In the end you'll most likely just throw away the expanded universe to create one of your own. All you need to get into the game are three books, and your imagination :B

 Re: Dungeons and Dragons Topic
Player's Handbook, DM's guide, and Monster manual. You might need dice. And paper. And pencils. And people to play it with. Btw, I play 3.5

 Re: Dungeons and Dragons Topic
I tried playing with my friends, and I'm still trying. We have trouble getting schedules to line up, and we're all essentially newbies, so we don't really have an experienced dungeon master. Me and my friend (whose idea it was in the first place) kind of fill the role as the de facto "experienced" players, but we can hardly carry the group like a veteran could. Everyone involved wants to play, so that helps us along, but we still have only played like 4 campaigns.
I "play" a monk (in other words, I made a monk and intend to play him at some point), but I have in the past played a rogue. We do 3.5 because that's all we know; 4th edition wasn't out when we first started.

 Re: Dungeons and Dragons Topic
Don't bother learning 4.0. You're better off sticking with 3.5. IMHO

 Re: Dungeons and Dragons Topic
Reminds me of a d&d game i played long time ago on the computer. It had both rts and real time adventuring in one setting. Whoa. Like command and conquer and farcry in one.

 Re: Dungeons and Dragons Topic
Most people think 4th edition is too WoWy and makes you focus on minmaxing as a certain gameplay type, rather than allowing you options in character creation like 3.5> did.

 Re: Dungeons and Dragons Topic
Yeah gotta say... I've played 2nd, 3.5 and 4th D&D. Out of all of them 4th will have to be my least favorite. It over complicates combat as for as the options you have while restricting role playing. While I'm rusty on rules for 2nd, it's probably my favorite.

If anybody is interested, I'm running a campaign on here! I have room for one, possibly three, more!
