And here is it again. Artwork wednesday! :)

Today I have for you: A new character who will shortly appear in the comic :D

Beatrice the Australian flying fox

Image

Many thanks to Hlaoroo who's providing her Australina accent! :D (So he's technically the voice of Bea ;) )

Well, Hello Beatrice
G’day! Oh, and please j’st Bea. Oi feel so old when somebody calls me Beatrice.

OK, Bea then. Uhm... How old are you? I mean the grey hair and...
Woah! Never ask a lady ‘bout ‘er age... Or ‘er weight! Oi’m middle-aged. Let’s keep it that way. An’ that’s silver, not grey. It’s moi natural colour. ^^

So, you’re a bat, right?
Are you kiddin’ me? No! Oi’m an ‘Strayan Flyin’ Fox!

Oh, really? Nice Accent. I love Australia!
Yeah, I know. Moi ‘Strayan’s a bit rusty. But I get some ‘elp from an awesome vet-to-be.

Hey, that sounds great!
Yeah, right?

Alright, you’re a new character in “Simon&Freddy”...
Well, acshully, I’m a returnin’ character. I w’s away for 2 years to visit moi famly and to study some magic stuff.

OK, so tell us about your family.
Oh, there’s moi mum, moi two sisters, and my stepbrother. Lea, moi older sister, lives in India and Rea, moi younger sister, lives in Africa. They’re both very talented shaymans. And there’s moi stepbrother, Damien (a dingo) who lives in ‘Straya with moi mother

I see. So you visited India to study some voodoo and Indian magic. So, like in “Indiana Jones”, that soul devouring and heart-rip-out thing?
Uhm... This comic is PG, innit?

Oh, yes, sorry. So just the “normal” magic stuff like divination and so forth?
Yeah, j’st the “normal” stuff.

So you really like this magic and mystic stuff. Any other hobbies?

Oh, yeah! Oi’m a big fan of poetry an’ I really love readin’

OK, sounds good. Thank you very much for this short interview. Have a nice time!
Thanks! An’ if you have any other questions: j’st ask!

Nice Character Hux!

*reads the night before* *sees the name "Dani"* *thinks:"hmmm refrence to my name I wonder?":)* *checks back the next day* *see's it changed to Damien* Awwww :| *thinks "But Hey! Damien's a really cool name!"* *feels better*

REALLY nice character, I already think she might be my favorite, Cause I LOVE bats, and she reminds me of a bat ( flying fox, yeah, I know )

and I'm glad Roo's going to be voicing her/helping... Ya know I may not be a good artist, but I may have a way to make these into animations if you want me to try Hux! (it can get you more fans/readers too!)

Thanks. ;) I wrote some of the sounds in a more phonetic way to try to replicate the Australian accent more closely. If you guys are finding it a bit difficult to read I can put it back to more traditional spelling though. ;)

I think it's fine. It's not as easy to read as plain English, but that's fully okay. I think we all have that extra minute for reading and that there is no need to rush through the text. i really had the illusion to hear an aussi. Good work mr. Vet-To-Be!

No problem, Hlaoroo. The purpose has been that, indeed (you Austalians eat words). Yeah Render, the little difficulty there has been only at the first reading. ;)

Impressive all the typical objects in the scene and the candle spot light. That snake is so tired to be in that glass jar. :P

Ah yes, I've read it from his profile info. So the character should be at least based on what he does as a newbie vet... Ok, it's enough to know for now. :)

Actually, on my last placement I got to do heaps of things - including performing surgeries (with a qualified veterinarian watching and assisting, of course). So I can do quite a lot. ;)

And using the thermometer THAT way is actually the most accurate way of taking one's temperature, even if it is uncomfortable to say the least.

Alright. That Housepets! comic strip example, which I figured out at the time, cleaned the poor Freddy's scared expression (no, that's a stroke face, which I know well about). I focused too much on the vet character look... Now it's needed to see the consequence of that, isn't anymore important see how's the vet (what he did is known). ;)
Also you didn't figured it out earlier, Render. What would it say about us? It's fine or not? :P
