Wow, so much good art in this thread! I love art threads, they are simply the best. But for all the while i've been lurking, I've never seen a 3-D piece. As this is what I plan to do for a living, I figure I might as well post some of my stuff. I Like simple pieces, so my work might not be the most complicated. I Do hope you guys enjoy it though!
The texturing for the globe took a couple hours, the model itself was like, 10 minutes.
If you are wondering the reason for so much empty space, It was originally a desktop, but I resized it way down to be able to post it here. the blank space was area for Icons to be placed without overlapping the image.

I use a free, student version of 3DS max, (not to be confused with the gaming device :p)
You can sign up for a free download if you are a student.
It's not the most beginner friendly program, but the things you can do with it are pretty awesome!
(And oh my, thank you to you both! I'll post more soon!)

For context, this was based off of the suggestion of a random character generator; one which Psyke linked to with that picture but which I will less discreetly (more creetly?) link to

A generator which I then stole for to make this drawing

It's interesting, regardless. I like that everything converges to a point, and the noodly strings around the bottom. They remind me of those slow-exposure photographs of moving light, which I'm not describing well but probably has a name (stuff like
this).
I haven't made it much of a secret that I am a big Maxis fan, so here's me screwing around in an obtuse way

Finally coloured this... somewhat
My drawing of NickCole for the previous SSD.
The style's from the DS game, The World Ends With You, and the pose's directly adapted from Neku Sakuraba's portrait.
That's all *scampers off*

My first thought "Wow, that's an awesome picture of a furry Sora from Kingdom Hearts."
Second thought: "Holy crap, that's Nicky! I didn't know it was possible to draw him so well without it being adorable! Nice job Kuro!"
Final thought: "...wow, The World End's with you copied Sora's character design."

Not sure if this quite qualifies, But I did a drawing, I call it "Safe". I'll link due to it containing blood and being potentially ideologically sensitive.
http://r3create.deviantart.com/art/Safe-290009395
It's a metaphor for some psychological things about myself.

I'd say it qualifies. It's art, ain't it?
I like the little details, like the warning label and the little drip off of the "L" button.
If I may, my one suggestion would be to cut back a bit on the blood. Not cut it out altogether, of course, I'm not trying to completely change your point. Just scale it back a bit, because a little bit of blood popping out at your eyeballs can have a much more striking impact than a lot of it.

Yaaay. Thanks I. ^^; I also actually ended up putting considerably less blood than I had originally in mind, But I think I could go with a little bit less of it.

I don't think a work of art has to be beautiful, safe, or proper to be called art. I figured art is about what types of ideas, thoughts, or feelings you want to instill in the viewer's mind. A violent death, I believe, is one of the strongest messages an artist can show. Also spring loaded doors tend to close fast. What that makes me think is that bad things can happen to you in such a sudden way and that it is easy to ignore or downplay all the warnings around us. Do you ever hear those stories of football (American football) players who suffer from a concussion then go back on to the field as it were just a small bump on the head. Later, you hear stories of those football players suffering from long term brain damage. Am I the only one who ever heard that sort of stuff on the news? I wonder If I'm giving too much meaning to the "Safe" art? My only problem is that the color of the blood is a bit too bright and that there are no shadows or highlight for the blood. It just seems to be runny and thin. I find that blood isn't as easy to draw as you might expect. Anyway, I like it. It's a great piece of artwork.

Yes, I Kinda gave up on the blood and took an overly simplistic way of just mapping out it's shape and having no lighting on it what-so-ever... Anyways, Thanks! ^^ Means quite a lot to me.
