If you've bought the game, (you should have, its 50% off) i'm sure your aware of the almost recent update which allowed multiplayer survival mode.
I was wondering how many people would actually play if i made a server, considering that i have no idea of how many people have even heard of the game.

I've gotten minecraft.(ex bought it for birthday present) and i got the server working. I have a computer that i can *entirely* dedicate to it.(2GHz Pentium M, 2GB of ram. Sufficed perfectly(lots of available resources, with me playing. :V

The only problem might be that my connection(wireless broadband stalls and sometimes comes down at night. (though at day it's great

And flint, monsters can be disabled in the game. I think if you disable it in the server settings or change your difficulty to peaceful in single player.

I have one i could dedicate, 6gb ram, quad core Intel i7. the only worry i have is the network, 5.55 mbps download and 0.5 mbps upload.

25565 is the default port, No need to put :25565 in there. Just the IP.

And i joined, seems to work, but its night and a mob of zombies pwned me like 3 times. ;-; also lag.

You could replace it with the one youre building in single player, thats what i did when testing my server.(just get the save files out of %appdata%/minecraft/saves and copy it, IIRC)

Could you disable monsters? They're annoying and get in the way when you just start the game. ;-;

its another guys, it has mods and other players. Plenty of trees, diamond rich, and more. There are monsters, but as long as you have a little shack built its fine. You can spend the night at my hotel i'm building x3

Well, my ISP sucks and doesn't let me port-forward. So i probably won't be able to host directly. <_< Uness if you guys want to try over hamachi. The network name is "housepets_minecraft" and the password is the same. The server will be running 24/7, not sure how stable hamachi or my internet would be.(the server is named "minecraft server") Tell me if anyone manages to connect and get it working without exessive lag.(my connection is somewhat better than zander's)

(usually it's around 2x better than this, but today it's been at this speed D:)

(and i connect to this myself to play(over LAN) , as its the only way for it to be playable on my tabletpc, because it can't simulate the world fast enough, so its not entirely empty :v)

You can. Just do a chat between one of them and hit "add people" to add the other.

(and minecraft multiplayer has it's own chat system, why use skype? O_o Not to mention i dont think skype+multiplayer game is a good idea, too much bandwidth usage..)
