Swedish Translation

Post by Ferraigo »

Hello to all of you stopping by the translations forum from time to time! :D

Having followed the great Italian and French translations that valerio and Foldo have made of Housepets!, I feel inspired and want show my own appreciation of this comic by translating it into Swedish.

I've run into a minor problem however, and I'd like to ask you guys what you think.
Since Housepets! is written in the Webletterer font, I'd like to use it, but I need to be able to write the letters å, ä and ö, which Webletterer doesn't have. So, should I just go for Webletterer using Komika Hand for the letters that Webletterer doesn't have, or does anyone of you know of a similar-looking font that has the letters I need?

Legal solution on the website of the designer :
http://www.blambot.com/font_weblettererpro.shtml ($20)

This is the font that I purchased to translate correctly Housepets in French.

Thank you for the font suggestions. I ended up using a combination of Webletterer and Komika Hand after all, and I have now translated the first arc of the comic. I've got to say, translating puns from one langauge to another must be the worst thing ever!

Enjoy!

This is now my favourite translation
Because I read everything with a cheesy accent
I was going to make a joke but then I did.

fantastic!
Keep it up, man! Swedish is adorable
The first song I bought in this language was Playboy-Hanna. I can't help reading your strip with that accent, 'tis cool!

And yes, the puns are #1 obstacle
#2 is until the 'cat-tail' arc was to make sure the reader couldn't tell Grape's gender.

I'm glad you guys like the translation!

Thank you Esquire Fox, I spent like one hour trying to come up with something weather-related in Swedish that could be used as a pun!

Actually valerio, hiding Grape's gender isn't very difficult in Swedish, since the genders of our nouns are not masculine and feminine. ;)

This is really fun, so I couldn't help but to translate the second story arc today, enjoy!

Oh and thanks for translating the titles too, I don't think the other translations do that, but they should =O.

One question: 'Sjuk' is the swedish word for 'silly' rather than 'sick of mind'?

Hello everyone!

I haven't been on here in ages, but I'm really happy to see that there are translations into many more languages than five years ago :)

Is there still an interest in the Swedish translation? I've been considering giving it a go again.
