Hey,
I've seen there isn't Housepets translation here.
Thus I submit to translate the comics in French, even if that's not easy. Enjoy!

Some names in French (but not translated in the French version):
_ Fox : Renard
_ Grape : Raisin
_ King : Roi
_ Peanut : Cacahuète
_ Pridelands : "Terres Fières"/"Terres de la Fierté"
_ Tiger : Tigre

Good luck with the Translations! :D

Good luck with translating the puns, I know they've had difficulty with the puns in the Spanish and Italian translations.

Hmm, there has got to be an easy way to put together an alt language version of the site

There probably is, but I would be of no help whatsoever! :B
Hooray!

You might be able to rig up some kind of toggle script that loads the alt-language strips instead of the English ones, but if you wanted to go farther than that, you'd have to re-write the whole site for any particular language you wanted to support.

Ehhh, that's what I was afraid of. Creating a toggle script would be easy enough that even I could do it, but rewriting the site for each language is just tedious and would take up a whole lot of space. :/

i don't speak french, though some words i can comprehend. Plus, given the fact that we already know what's the original text, it makes it easier read through the translation.
OK, I'd have SOME problems with Arabic, Russian, Chinese and so on... But it'd be very fun to see the translations of that, too

Great new: I downloaded Webletterer Pro on my computer (legally) and I can now type my text without having to change the font for each accent. :D

Cause I do not want to see a full half French and half in English (hypothetic marketing issue for the book), Pridelands has been translated as Terres fières.

Current strip (one-off):

Great work so far! I'm still laughing at "Mon humide salut"

And just a question, doesn't "par-ce que" require the hyphen in the middle?

Frank wrote:And just a question, doesn't "par-ce que" require the hyphen in the middle?
No, "because" is really translated by "parce que" in French. :)

I re-read it more slowly and I might have found some translation errors:
Foldo wrote:Qu'il Pleuve !
The original "Let there be rain" is lampooned from the bible's "Let there be light." In French, this would be "Que la lumière soit", so maybe it should be translated "Que la pluie soit". Currently, it translates back as "let it rain" (but not yet sounding like a lampoon of "Let it snow").
Of course, you might be referencing something else here. The Spanish version of "It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring" goes "¡Que llueva! ¡Que llueva! ¡La vieja está en la cueva!" (literally, "Let it rain! Let it rain! The old lady is in the cave!") If French has a similar song, this might just work as it is.
Foldo wrote:Qui a dit qu'il ne jouait pas au jeu ?!
I was wondering, wouldn't Rex know that Grape is a girl? (Of course, using "elle" would ruin the joke at the end of the arc, maybe if we went for something neutral? Such as "Qui a dit ça ?! Qui ne jouait pas au jeu ?!"
Foldo wrote:Hé, Bino. Qu'est-ce que nous étions supposés faire dans ce jeu ?
The original implies Fox has a slightly better memory: "What were we not supposed to do in that game?"
Foldo wrote:Tu n'avais pas creusé aussi pronfondément lorsque nous avions discuté du chapitre du lancier
The original has "spearbearers", in plural. This leaves the possibility that the "hundred lions in tribal gear" are the ones carrying spears.
The other possible objection is that "lancier" implies they know how to use the spear –spearbearers only implies they are carrying the spears, possibly as squires– but I can't think of anything better ("porte-lances" sounds kind of silly), so let's just leave it at that.

Some of those seem a bit nit-picky to me, Frank.
It's also possible that the perfect, direct translation would be considered a strange thing to say for someone who spoke the language as their first.

But anyway, I've forgotten all my French vocab so I can't really offer any help. It's all up to our resident French national, Foldo! :D
