welcome back from the dead, Lopiko! great work as usual. couple of observations:

'larga' is the italian word for 'large', hehe

you should start syllabazing the words to gain some space. 'Club de los perros' is fine, but it's too generic. 'club de los buen perros' is better.

and about the dog club thing... yeah, I thought that it could sound too generic just to make it like that, but due to space issues and the fact that "Club de los buenos perros" sounds kind of weird in Spanish, and can have some weird meanings too.
and I finally solved that of the cat-lover thing, first I have to say that the last page was the most difficult and tricky to translate, partly because I translated Cat-lover as "Gustarle las gatas" (to romantically like female cats) so it always changes depending on who says it and things like that...
that's why in the last panel everythig seems so different from the English original.

and well, maybe "bueno" wouldn't exactly mean Gay (I'm talking about Mexico, I have no idea about Chile) but in Mexicoi it COULD mean something like "sexy dogs club" or something like that.

I also have to add the only name I will translate is "Tiger" because is just very minor difference (Tigre) and because you need to know what it means to get the joke.

the second comic was very difficult, and had to have some minor changes to have the same gender puns, if you want more details ask me...

and sorry, but I won't be able to translate anything this week, until Saturday, when Saturday comes I will translate the next 3 comics and the 3 extra strips which were before the comic!

"Mujer" doesn't fit quiet well, use "hembra", thats does the job.

I thought about it, and "Hembra" sounds kind of awkward, seeing that's the way you talk about unsentient animals.
But I don't know, maybe it could be used...

Well, I had to stick to a Human gender word because of the lack of a general gender word (like male and female) but yeah, I thought it would be awkward to use a word like that in the context of sentient animals, but I guess that can change.

If you are going to do that, so change it to "chica", that fits more i guess.

Of all the translation projects going on, I think this one should remain top priority, since Spanish is the second-most spoken language in the world (the first being Mandarin Chinese, but since I haven't seen anybody here from the PRC that likely isn't going to happen).

So far Lopiko has done a great job, I can't wait to see how the limmericks and that part when Peanut recites a poem to Grape are gonna come up.

We've already seen how French would be.

italian: Peanut = Nocciolina -- Grape = uvetta
spanish: Peanut = Manì -- Grape = uva
german: Peanut = Erdnuss -- Grape = Traubenmost (which could be shortened in 'Nuss' und 'Trauben')

Any way, they are not even cool as 'Peanut' and 'Grape', not to mention that the other pets' names should be translated at this point. And each translated name would sound SOOOO awkward, since each culture christens their pets according to their customs. For example, in Italy I *never* heard a dog named 'Nocciolina', no way! And that cutie we know as King? We use a lot the name 'Rex', which is its equivalent in latin, but never a dog has been named 'Re'.

Well it is common for people who speak spanish to name their pets after things or food, like "Dona" (donut) or "Canela" (cinnamon) and they sound fine, so I don't think it sounds odd to call Peanut, for example, "Mani" or Grape, "Uva".

What it IS odd is to speak spanish and call your pet by a name in english.
Then again, this can only by applied in Mexico... I don't know if it isn't in the rest of South America or Spain.

czech: Peanut = Arašíd; Grape = Hrozny (plural)/Hrozen (singular) (both could be suitable). Although it's in "it" form, for "she", "Hrozenka" would be better.

But still, all those names sound completely ridiculous and I doubt that anybody would use such names for pets in my country. I always hate when somebody translates names literally, like one unnamed TV station does with films (it actually modifies the somewhat good translation and translates all names literally and removes all puns or interesting sentences - why they do that, when the film is already translated by someone who actually likes films in general, instead of somebody who obviously didn't even see the film he's translating...), because in most cases, it tears your ears as well as the part of brain responsible for the auditory system. If they at least made up different, better sounding name, but I don't think they should be translated at all. However, there's a small problem - (at least in czech) non-english speaking people will pronounce these words (Peanut, Grape) differently, so they would sound weird, but that happens all the time with english names, that people never heard of pronounced (books, names of games and such).

Or whole names: Peanut Butter Sandwich = Sendvič s arašídovým máslem *snnnrrrkkk* Grape Jelly Sandwitch = Sendvič s hroznovým džemem (he)/Sendvička s hroznovým džemem (she, but sounds wierd, "sandwich" has no "she" form) *snnnrkkk ha ha ha* That is complete nonsense. No... never translate names literally. It's like calling a dog a "fried chips with ketchup"

Yup, no one in his sane mind would call his/her pets in such guise. And translate it all so to switch to an entirely different kind of naming genre would kill half the fun.
