 Re: Spanish translation
Well, let’s start with the original sentence ‘all hail the rain-ing king!’ Of course, it cannot be properly translated as it is in Italian, thus I chose another ‘climatic’ pun. ‘Su questo non ci piove’ it both means ‘this is just true’, and also is a mockery about the inability of the weather wizard to make any rain –‘non ci piove’, lit. ‘it doesn’t rain over us’
it wasn't really hard to hide Grape's gender for a few strips. for example, I put substantives instead of adjectives, such as in 'blashpemer', which I replaced with 'blasfemie' (sub) instead of 'blasfemo' (adj)
The real challenges I had were with Rufus 'dead' jokes in the farm arc and above all the 'ode to the cat' Peanut recited for his napping friend.

 Re: Spanish translation
But... Grape's gender was reveled much much before that, in the cat-lover ark, so I don't think it's necessary to hide it anymore after that.

 Re: Spanish translation
Oh wait no! you mean the puns, not the gender hiding, haha, yeah, I'll have a fun time with those... but it was hard with the rain-ing king joke, because, I don't even get the joke! English puns are hard...

 Re: Spanish translation
To reign is to hold royal office - as a king or a queen. It means more than that, but that's the joke, as reign is pronounced the same in English as rain. Being the weather wizard, Grape can cause rain, but Grape is also the leader, thus is reigning. It's just a really bad pun, that's all.
Good luck with the puns in Spanish, yeah. This strip must be really difficult to translate, considering how wordy it is.

 Re: Spanish translation
It's really similar, it only gets difficult when using very country-specific words and slang, but other than that I think this is understandable for most people, and believe me i will completely avoid Mexican slang in the translation.

I wonder if people from Spanish speaking countries (where the game's not played) will get the whole thing... but well.

 Re: Spanish translation
I keep approving of these translations 'Rayos' is the best swearing I heard in this language! PS - I wouldn't have used a genre-indicating word such as 'tramposo', since Grape's gender is not to be revealed for some few strips more

 Re: Spanish translation
Well, it's no much like s swearing, means litterally "lightning"and it's the same as saying darn- and, yeah I know Grape's gender must be kept ambigous now, but remember everybody in the comic thinks that Grape's a guy, until they're told otherwise, and if you see the original English of that particular strip, somebody says: "give HIM the chainsaw" meaning they believe Grape is a guy.

 Re: Spanish translation
Wow, and I'm surprised how I can understand some Italian without studying it, and you can undertand some Spanish too (Although I don't know if you studied it) pretty cool.

Of all the people besides me who noticed that, the first who actually mentioned it is from Mexico. Awesome.

 Re: Spanish translation
Hahaha, sorry, man. When I said it, I didn't really think in terms of nationality so much as that's what the language is called. It was a silly mistake.

 Re: Spanish translation
the only spanish I ever 'studied' was the one of the 'Mafalda' comic. Since I already had the italian edition, comparing helped me through many words.

 Re: Spanish translation
Three easy and short ones for today, I was going to star with the "Cat-lover" ark today, but no... I start with it tomorrow while I figure out how the heck I'm supposed to translate "Cat-lover" to Spanish...
Valerio, I see the Italian word is "Gattaro" funny you can say it in one word hehe, but, how so?

 Re: Spanish translation
YAY More spanish stuff. Mmm, good... Anyway, back to biz: the regular term should be 'amante dei gatti' or 'gattofilo'. But the first was too long for translations and the second too technical. Spoils all the fun. 'Gattaro' is used in Rome to define those people (usually our elders) who use to take care of the stray cats, especially the ones living by the Colosseo. It's more of a slang word, but it defines excellently a cat lover. Couldn't resist using it. So, is 'mascota' the spanish word for 'pet'? In this, italian is a disaster, we don't have a single word for it PS - since you use to translate each strip's title (a thing I should do as well), here are two suggestion for 'a real buzz' you seem to have forgotten un zumbido un verdadero choque

 Re: Spanish translation
Wow! that word is so perfect! I wish Spanish could have a word like that hehe And yeah, Mascota is the word for pet... much longer than the word pet, which gives me problems sometimes...
and yeah! thanks for the help with the word "Buzz" I know what it means, but not all the meanings of it are so easy to translate... how did you get it?
