Tatiana gave a somewhat glitched raspberry through her modulated voice as she clambered onto the boat, stumbling a bit, "Souls, gods... Bleh, I don't think on that stuff, don't understand it. Just over complicates things if ya ask me. But what I DO know is: that-" She pointed her good arm at the mech and the darkness around it, "Can be punched. So let's punch it and get tacos." She turned her smile to Jenny, "Heh, who needs oars when ya have a power motor? All aboard and mind your heads! We got a super naturally charged mech to dismantle!"

Ulrich stepped aboard and crouched near the front of the boat to keep his head out of the line of fire, "I am sorry that there are not any seats. I did not think we would need them. I would suggest to keep your heads down."

Jenny crouched and readied her weapon in firing position as they began to move through the waves.

Kolt pulled out another energy bar and started chewing on it, trying to regain some of the energy he lost with that big strike earlier. ”I can just push the boat across you know. We don’t really need oars.” He offered as he stepped into the boat, seeming a little amused that they seemingly forgot he could do that. He became rather confused when Jenny said she wouldn’t get a soul. ”Wait, what makes you think you’ll never get a soul? As long as you live a virtuous life, the gods should give you one when you die. Or is that not how they work in your religion?”

She grimaced slightly as she replied to Kolt. "People who created me, Kolt?" She shook her head. "Amoral scientists, not gods. And I'll never accept them as such. Means they can't bestow souls so it's not an option here." She ran a weapons check.

”That doesn’t mean you won’t get a soul when you die.” He said, somewhat confused by his teammates pessimistic attitude. ”On my planet, there are plenty of stories of man made creatures that evolved beyond what their creators intended, and were rewarded with a soul when they died. It doesn’t matter if you were born, made, or procedurally generated. It’s what you DO with the gift of life that determines your fate.”

The mech slammed its fist into the deck, causing the ship to rock and the area it hit to cave in. The malicious shadows of the dark demon swirled around the mech as the taunting cries and jeers of thousands of condemned spirits filled the air, whispering in the ears of all present. The metal monster picked itself up fully and roared in fury. The pilot felt unstoppable as the shadows pushed him beyond what he was physically capable of. His missing missiles were replaced with glowing spectral wisps as if they formed from his own spite. He was ready for round two.

The demon's influence is strong. He will no longer be impacted by the unseen guardian force.

His shields are full, and cloaked in darkness.

----------------------------

Tempest and The Lycan recognized the harsh aura of Odium's corruption. The rage it brought, the desire for violence and vengeance, was something they trained extensively to become resistant to. Without hesitation or even explanation, they bolted in separate directions. They knew each others' plans without saying.

The Lycan ran toward Gear, who was prepared for him. Gear grabbed the case with his gun and let the Lycan pull him into the deepest shadows where they vanished from all sight in the inky darkness.

Morgan ran as fast as she could to the boat as it floated slowly toward the warship. She dove into the water and was suspended beneath the waves for a moment before rocketing forward like a torpedo. As she went, she generated a current. When she reached and passed under Ulrich's hardlight boat, it would lurch forward and trail behind her at high speed.

----------------------------

Before they got into the boat, Hivemind ran up to Kol. He quickly pushed the duel chain-axes into her hands. "You'll need these as backup." he said before climbing in after her.

As they floated toward the warship and his team started discussing souls and gods, Hivemind almost laughed. "My brother," he began, "would have some very interesting things to say about this, but I'm not sure now is the time for-" He stopped as the boat suddenly lurched forward even faster as Tempest passed beneath it.

After Tempest and the Lycan bolted off Rika looked utterly confused "I'll just stay here then, shall I!?" She shouted after them, unsure if they'd hear her. She sighed and packed up the green pod by her side, taking a green pill before closing it up fully. "Right, guess I'll just go.. Somewhere.." She mumbled to herself, standing up. With everything of hers packed away, she headed toward the resort.

As Rika got close to the resort, a voice sounded behind her. "I have a feeling you are in the wrong place," it said as the Police Chief stepped in close.

Once in the engine room, escorted by two of the personnel from up on deck Talya made a beeline for the main junction boxes, opening one up and plugging straight into the ships power grid. With that behemoth on deck still functional there was no time to be polite or subtle. The lights on all decks would begin to flicker and sputter erratically, a few systems blinking on and off.

[Emergency power disengaged, main power restored. Charge at 0%]

{Overide the entire ship power-grid, Route power to recharge Internal Zero-Point Cell.}
{Initiate repair sequence.}
{Deploy loadout 7B.}

[Repairing... Charge at 5%]

"my apologies for the inconvenience, but I need to be back to full power as fast as possible." Talya stated, her synthesized voice no longer skipping. As the power surged through her systems, she felt the pain ease. For the first time since her boneheaded maneuver during the crash, of trying to use her own reserves to forcibly restart the Landshark's truster assembly, she was actually running at more than 4% power. The casing of her shell seemed to shimmer as replicated replacements for the damaged parts materializing in place of the damaged ones that automatically disintegrated to make room. Crumpled and warped sections knitting back into their proper shapes as replacement structural elements appeared inside them and stretched them back into their correct spots. There was an additional set of part appearing as well; An infantry scale shoulder mounted Charged Particle Canon on one, and a rack of micro-missiles on the other. It still wasn't a fraction of what the mech had, but atleast this time she wouldn't be on the sidelines watching.

[Scanning restored, Communications restored, Charge at 20%]

>Hivemind, I found a compatible power-source. Will be back on deck repaired and recharged in a little under a minute.

Kobor had been on the surface of the water ahead of the group, doing his best to keep the device he was carrying from fully submerging, and was a little surprised when the rest suddenly caught up. Usually he was only slower than everyone else on land, not in the water.

"You have an extra rifle by any chance?" he asked just as they reached the ship's bow, slamming himself into the side suckers first and beginning the climb up the vertical surface. He still has that slapped-together contraption strapped to his back, the sleek metallic emitter looking at odds with the tape, cables, and what looks like a car battery, as if that one piece comes from somewhere wholly different from the rest of it.

It seems that while kobor might be slow out of the water in general, he moves the same speed up a vertical surface as across a horizontal one thanks to those sticky limbs of his...

Back on the beach, one of the locals it throwing a fit, because somebody forced open the hood of the sports car Kol was looking at earlier, and commandeered a few parts.

- - - - - -

As she jumped as high as she could, not wanting the dents from her climbing to be low enough to make the ship leaky, and climbed the side of the hull. weapons held in her forward arms as the reinforced covers on her claws bit into the metal. Kol was quiet. Hive mind was right, this was not the time to be chatting idly.

Tatiana flew off the light boat, seeing as she was no longer needed to push the boat, and landed on the larger ship, rifle in hand. She wouldn't deny she was feeling a bit on edge, though she also felt excited; an opponent like this was something interesting and she was very much willing to crunch up her Armored Shell to make the oversized hunk of junk wish it had stayed keeled over!

She waited for the others, preferring not to anger the demonic mech man. Yet anyway.

Once they got close enough to the ship, Kolt flew up towards the shadow-covered robot, preforming a flying punch right where he imagined the face would be behind all the darkness. While it wouldn’t be anywhere near as powerful as his punch from before, it should still make the mecha stumble a bit. ”HEY DIPSTICK!” He yelled, pulling up some of debris created when robot caved in part of the ship. ”I don’t know what’s the deal between you and Gear, but there’s no excuse for threatening civilians like that!!” He threw the floating chunks of metal at the forcefield, saving a few of the larger chunks to protect against retaliation fire. Each piece slammed into the mech with a satisfying SCRUNK, with any piece that wasn’t too damaged by the impact to be useful pulling back to repeat the process from a different angle.

In the deepest shadows, The Lycan kept Gear hidden. The cyborg placed his gun case on the ground and opened it up. His gun was very simple. Bolt action, single shot, no magazine. It had a scope. It was a basic x6 x12 x24 scope. It was also detached and looked like it hadn't been taken out of its case in decades. Only one thing was special about this gun: It had a projectile accelerator barrel giving its bullets a varying velocity.

Gear pulled the gun out of the case, propped it on a bench, and took aim as The Lycan kept watch.

------------------------

The sea seemed to come alive as tendrils of water reached up to the ship and pulled the crew off of it, placing them into boats made of ice. Morgan shot out of the water carrying some of it with her. She launched the blast of ocean at the mech as she made way for the door. She needed to get everyone off of the ship. There was no way it would survive the fight. She ran to the the bridge to where she thought she might find the Prime Minister. When she eventually found him, the told him "Mister Prime Minister? We need to get you and your crew off of this ship. If it isn't blown to smithereens by the demon-possessed fighting robot on the deck, it will be sinking by the end of the fight from all of the attacks being thrown around."

-----------------------

Jenny would find that trying to fight hatred itself by using hatred to motivate her is a very bad idea as the inky black shadows of corruption began leaking from her uniform.

>Good.
>I hope you have some weapons.
>We're going to need...
>hold that thought.

"Jenny! Snap out of it! That's an order!" He yelled.

-----------------------

The mech placed it's arms in front of it, shielding itself from Kolt's attack. YOU HAVE NO IDEA He began as he took aim. Before he could finish however, Tempest's blast of seawater hit him. He stayed upright, but was forced to cancel his attack as he needed to resist the force the water was hitting him with.

10 days until full corruption.

Once most of the people were off, Ulrich moved closer to the remaining ones as his boat vanished except for the floor. It rose up to the deck of the ship. He stepped onto the deck and started this fight much how he started the last one, enough walls of light to cover the mechs most destructive weapons. This time though, he tried something a little different. He made a shorter, thicker wall near the ground and swept it across the deck intending on taking out the mechs legs.

"You are welcome to hep but do your compatriots not need you," the Chief asked Rika. "I have a boat, if you want to use it?"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jenny shook her head clear. "Sorry," she said, feeling an ice cream headache, "gotta remember not to hate this thing. And there's always another gun," she added, passing Kobor the gun that was strapped to her left leg, a high power, double energy barrelled, pistol before mounting the ship and opening fire. She slapped a round device with a pockmarked top onto the wall above her head. It seemingly did nothing but it would. It was a lightweight intercept laser that detected incoming missiles and shot them. It wasn't ideal in close quarters but every inch counted in Jennys' estimation.

[Charge, 40%. Repairs, Complete. Fabrication, 80%.]

> Please. Personal nanofabricators are standard features for every reputable Hardsuit Dealership, and I'm a deluxe model. How did you think I was repairing myself? I already have it fabricating a few 'toys'.

>I can probably get a shot from down here if I shoot through the messhall floor and aft deck, and I could feed power to the beam from the ships engine. Going to loose some firepower needlessly cutting the hull if it moves around too much though, try and keep it fixated on one spot if you can, please?

>Also, can you let Tempest know there are about twenty crew still below decks? Mostly engineers here and a few heat signatures I'm seeing in the armory on deck two.

Along with the messages Talya uploaded her latest scan of the ship. every piece of abandoned military ordinance aboard is highlighted, in case additional firepower needs to be scavenged. some of the tagged objects though aren't strictly weapons, and some have odd names... things like the wrecked helicopter's fuel tank being tagged as [worlds biggest Moltov], and the live shells rolling around on deck from the destroyed AA Gun are apparently [Party Poppers].

- - - - - -

Offering a quick "Thank you" Kobor finished his climb onto the deck, getting up on the opposite side of the machine from where Kolt was, and wasting little time in opening fire, taking cover behind the husk of the aft port deck gun.

If he could attach the interdictor when the shield went down it might lock up a few of the mech's joints... assuming this black gunk misting off of it obeyed inertia anyway...

First things first, that shield needed to come down.

- - - - - -

And of course, Kol does what Kol does best: Charge straight in like a berserk lunatic swinging as many melee weapons as she can hold.

Kolt noticed that the mech was distracted by Tempest, and decided to take advantage of that. He gathered all the remaining debris from around the ship into one assembled mass, and thrust it into the mech with the force of a jetliner, trying to force it off the edge of the ship, or at least damage the shields a fair amount. ”You’re right. I have no idea what the deal is between you and Gear. But as I said, regardless of whatever kind of grudge you have against him, there is NO excuse for trying to attack civilians like you did.” He started smirking, and his voice took a much more mocking tone. ”Not sure what I expected though. You seem like to kind of person who blames everyone but himself for his problems, regardless of whether or not they’re actually at fault. Plus when you do seek revenge, you suck at it! You had a walking WMD at your disposal, and you still had to accept from a dark god to stand a chance against a couple of rookies, a traumatized old man, and a superhero who gets his power from overeating!!! You might be the worst supervillain I’ve ever fought, and trust me, I’ve faced some dumb ones.” He taunted, already moving to dodge the inevitable anger fueled attack soon coming his way. If this dark god’s corruption worked like he thought, then if he kept this guy mad he’d be too distracted trying to shut Kolt up to block any attacks the others threw at him.

Tatiana began a volly of plasma once more, seemingly gliding along the deck in an attempt to get behind the mech while dealing damage along the way. Feeling like she shouldn't be too conservative with her ammo, especially as Kolt probably made the raging hate demon even more hateful, she decided to try something that probably wouldn't work too well, but it was something she'd been meaning to try for awhile yet. Using her telekinesis, she tore one of her plasma cartridges from it's place on her hip and sent it rocketing towards the mech. As it traveled she started to apply pressure to the casing, causing cracks along its surface. Once it was right in front of the mech she directed most of her shots towards it, causing a small, yet decently sized explosion.

She continued to glide, firing through the small obscured sight line her attack caused for herself, and yet mull into some thought as she did, You know, now that I'm a part of a team 'n all I should probably stop taking the safeties off stuff. Well that and having to care about the condition of these jerkos, that too. But the explosions so pretty!

Jenny kept herself under control now, choosing her shots precisely, aiming at the hole Gear had blown from a mile out. High energy blasts smacked into the mechs' shielding as Jenny changed position, her defence drone sniping a missile that detonated in mid air, clipping Jennys' left ear with a piece of shrapnel.

The mech grabbed the hardlight constructs blocking his missiles and tried pulling them off. Instead however, the corruption surrounding him sprung to life and immediately started surrounding the constructs, consuming their light in Odium's cruel darkness. The constructs shattered, but at the cost of some of the Mech's corrupted shielding. The same thing happened to the construct Ulrich used to try and trip the mech, though that took more of the corruption to destroy.

It barely noticed Jenny and Kobor firing upon it, as demonic shields were highly resistant to small arms firing. Mostly their constant attack prevented its shields from having the chance to recharge.

It did notice Kol, however, as she hacked away at his legs with her close range attacks. They were doing more damage than the pistols, mostly because of the speed of the attack. Once again, the mech took aim at her with all of its guns... before once again being smashed in the side by a chunk of debris. The mech stumbled and the energy cannon went off, putting a hole clean through the ship from the deck to the hull just slightly above sea level.

The mech turned to Kolt. "HE MURDERED MY FAMILY!" It roared. "HE MADE ME AN ORPHAN! MY HOME WENT UP IN FLAMES BECAUSE OF HIM!" He turned his minigun and energy cannon on Kolt. "AND I WILL TEAR THROUGH WHOMEVER I NEED TO IF IT HURTS HIM BACK!" His voice turned harsh. Demonic. Like the growls of every monster, every killer, every corrupted, dead soul were speaking in unison through the mech's loudspeakers. He fired both main guns at Kolt while at the same time launching a volley of missiles to carpet-bomb the deck. He was so enraged he didn't even notice Tatiana's volley of plasma until the exploding casing caused him to stagger slightly. He looked at Kolt, then Tatiana, and then decided to fire his minigun at Tatiana and his energy cannon at Kolt.

Ulrich did moderate damage. (Light is effective against dark)
Jenny and Kobor did minor damage.
Kol did upper-minor damage.
Kolt did moderate damage.
Tatiana did moderate damage.

The Corrupted shields have been damaged, but are still fair to good strength.

9 days left until full corruption.

>Understood. Hivemind said as he continued to fire. "See if you can keep it still for a moment!" he called to the others while he contacted Tempest.

"Tempest, there are about twenty crew below decks. Engineers in the engine room and some in the armory- AH!" He dove to the side as the energy cannon went off, tearing a hole in the ship. "Tempest! Need you to hurry up, before this guy kills someone!"

--------------------------------

"Sir, I'll make you a deal. You evacuate now, and I'll keep the ship from sinking. Ok, so I'll do that anyway, but I really need to get you out of he-" She staggered as the ship was hit. She then received Hivemind's message. "Sir, I need to get the rest of the crew out as well, so please come with me."

Time to try something else, Jenny told herself, checking her other pockets for useful things as the Mech ranted. "And you reckon this will make things easier, pal," she called as she found the magnetic drain. "I'm from colony fourteen. I saw my entire race ripped apart in the name of progress! You think I don't want revenge on them for that? But what they did will never be known if they're killed! The reason for the revenge will go unnoticed! Your family will still be dead, no names on their graves! All people will remember is what you do now!"

She'd been moving whilst she talked, up onto the deck above, across the wounded ship and back again whilst the hand held device charged. She needed it in direct contact with the shield to try and draw as much power from it as it could before detonating and giving the charge back. She threw the device after stepping out of a passageway and threw herself back out of the way before a micro missile roared into the wall beside her. The leech grasped onto the top rear of the mech shields and began draining as Jenny moved for a new location and began firing again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Only a fool argues at a time like this," the Prime Minister admitted as, on the deck above, threeNaval ratingscovered the retreat of their fellows.

Well, add that to the list of things that needed to be explained. He didn’t have time to focus on it though, as he was too busy trying to avoid all the blasts coming his way. Still, he needed to get this guy distracted, and what better way to do that then by applying his signature charm? ”So in order to hurt the guy that killed your family, you’re trying to kill me? I haven’t spoken a single word to him!! Before yesterday, I’d didn’t even know he existed! You’d have more luck hurting him by killing his pet rock than by hur-GAAHG!!!! His mockery was cut off when one of his opponents shots hit his tail, cutting almost a fifth of it off the tip. Luckily the heat of the blast cauterized the wound, but it still hurt like all howl. Kolt’s face went from mocking to furious almost immediately. Tails tended to be a source of pride amongst his people, and this idiot just cut half a foot off his! He looked at the mech with murder in his eyes, a radiant purple glow covering his body. ”Boy, did you hit the wrong spot. He said as he lifted up one of the helicopters the mech had damaged earlier, a purple glow surrounding it’s tailless body. With a weird, swiping hand gesture, he thrust the vehicle at the shadowy giant, it’s fuselage exploding in a ball of fire as it hit the robots forcefield.
I would not recommend doing something like that again. Lifting that vehicle put us at 36% power. You might want to go back to taunting him.

Once he had noticed that anything he created was cancelling out a relatively equal amount of darkness, Ulrich put most of his energy into feeding the mech light constructs.A few rods appeared from the ground and started feeding their way into it, being destroyed while simultaneously weakening the mech's shielding. It was a relatively power efficient way of attacking. He used resources to create constructs, the mech freed up resources by destroying them and he made progress in weakening its shields. He threw up a shield in front of him as a helicopter exploded on the mechs shields. Bits of metal and flaming fabrics bounced off his shield. After the bits of flaming anything stopped or at least slowed their rain on him, he returned to feeding the mech more constructs.

Scrambling back, Kol barely avoids the misfired beam thanks almost entirely to Kolt's help, before returning to the attack, going after the other leg this time, remembering the weapon on that side jamming earlier, and mistakingly thinking it unreliable.

- - - - -

Kobor is still firing waiting for an opportunity to use the interdictor.

Keep it together... Tal is close enough that you can feel her link. Focus on that. Don't freeze.

- - - - -

[Fabrication complete.]

Breaking communication and shifting her stance into one better suited for firing of a heavy weapon, ram bolts deployed from the heel of each foot just as a massive beam tore a chunk out of the engine room, destroying one of the three generators, wounding two of the crew, scaring the rest half to death, and giving Talya a clear view to return fire on the mech.

{Set beam strength: Maximum}
[Confirmed, power set to 5Gj/s]
{Continuous beam mode}
[Warning these settings will exceed safe thermal tolerances.]
{Override}
[Warning this will deplete power reserves faster than safety systems will allow. Alternate power source?]
{Ships Engine via wrist interface}
[Confirmed.]
{Fire}
[Firing Main Canon.]

The entire ship would go dark, all power failing everywhere, as every last drop is continuously siphoned into a white-hot beam of supercharged ions firing up at the mech from the engine room. Talya's frame flinching downward under the strain and recoil from firing, as the weapon's barrel and intake vent have already started to glow a faint orange. she'll only be able to keep that up for about 45 seconds before it will need to stop and cool down.

Not enough. Not enough. keep going.

By the time it's done the weapon is red-hot all over and demanding at least a five minute cool down, and the ships engines are looking pretty overheated as well.

>Make that count. Make him bleed. It's going to be a while before I can do that again. she messages as she leaves the engine room, grabbing a a rifle out of the hands of one of the two soldiers that had escorted her and making her way topside. Her message somehow managing to convey a sense of growing aggression despite the limitations of the chat...

Hivemind might remember from what he found in her mind, this has happened before. Away from Kobor her psyche is incomplete, an old trauma that never fully healed. He's her conscience, and she's his courage. Right now she wants to do as much damage as she can, but is thankfully fixated on the mech. not out of hatred, there's no actually malice towards the mech pilot, just a desire cause damage for its own sake.

Starting the fire just to watch things burn.

They probably didn't expect to be apart this long...

(EDIT: Slight correction, as I forgot something I really should have accounted for. I didn't think about it because he was supposed to link back up with her and help her get onto the mech, but then that got derailed by the mech taking off and everything else.... oops.)

Welsh Halfwit wrote:"We do indeed," the Chief said, escorting the Doctor down to the triage station that consisted of three ambulances and medics.
As she entered the triage, Rika noted how many patients there were and how many medics were on hand. Twelve or so patients on beds, six medics. Most injuries from what she could see were varying from minor to mild, all being treatable by a single one of her pills easily. She wanted to hold onto her supply just in case, so she thought she'll use the medic's stocks for the time being. Nothing like going old-school from time to time.. "Right, thanks Chief, I'll get started straight away."She said, taking out a green pod which she held held on her hip for the time being. She stepped forward and addressed one of the medics. "Excuse me sir! Dr. Rika Montoni, I'm here to help, care to throw a few beds my way or do need me on the walk-ins?" She asked, gesturing around as she spoke.

The young man she addressed turned from the patient they were hovering over. "Ah.. Sure, beds seven through ten if you can, Nurse Lena's on walk-ins back there once your're done with them. Glad to know we've got someone trained on the scene.." He said exasperated, pointing to the said beds and over his shoulder toward the front of the triage.

Rika nodded deftly. "Thank you. I'l get on tho- Hang on, what d'you mean 'someone trained'? You've got a nurse, and another doctor right?" She asked, noting how he spoke.

"Currently not, ma'am. One was to be inbound on a fourth ambulance, but that was about.. Half an hour ago?" He said meekly, continuing to talk as he treated a patient. "Must be busy back at the hospital, too.."

Rika sighed. "Understood. Once you have time, see if you can trace them up. No rush." She said before turning to bed eight. "Will do, ma'am." the man replied.

The middle-aged man on bed eight was holding his right shoulder, a trickle of blood seeping through his fingers. Seems he had just been sat there. Rika stepped around the bed and leaned her knees onto the side. "Hello sir, Dr. Montoni. Can I have a look?" She asked. The man looked her up and down before moving his hand. It was a mildly deep vertical gash just below the shoulder's point. Rika gently moved the shirt's sleeve he was wearing away from the cut to get a better look at it before releasing it and opening the pod she had to retrieve a pair of gloves. "Now, how'd that happen?" She asked as she put the gloves on. "Slipped over running from the-the bullets.. Hit a brick wall.." He said gruffly, wincing from the small movement. "Well, i'll get that fixed, don't worry." Rika replied, wriggling her fingers. "Pff, it's your job to.. Just - get it done.." He mumbled, wincing again. Rika rolled her eyes. Charming.. well, I've had worse retorts.. She thought before readying herself. "Right, let's get started.."

Rika'll be busy for a little while, and a lot longer once those marines get onto shore..

He'd made mistakes over the last year, he knew that. Ever since he'd left, in fact. Well, left/been kicked out. It was semantics. But he'd made errors. Like when he'd got to this marble in space. He'd heard they were stopping at an island first so he'd assumed they meant America. It seemed quite large and wasn't attached to anything that wasn't called America - three Divisions, North, South, and Central - and access to the other countries in the world. It was also big enough to lose him in. He could wander and keep his own company. Hunt what he needed to eat - which was why he'd decided not to try Australia - too many deserts in the middle and the edge wasn't that wide - and, maybe, the odd bit of pilfering.

But they'd visited here first. An island barely twenty miles wide from side to side. And he'd got stuck here, unwilling to risk jumping past security at the airport - who travelled in the air any more - or seaport - as that had lots of humans in the same clothes around. That was one thing he'd learnt from looking. Humans wore clothes. A lot of them. They wore things that looked sensible and things that didn't and things that made your senses reel and your eyes bleed and doubt that this culture could eer have created some of the nice art he'd seen in the art gallery in the islands town. Humans didn't make sense in that respect but one thing about clothes did. If you met a group wearing the same clothes? Stay away. They were probably hunters and likely to tell you to stop or they'd shoot you. A couple had tried. So he'd taken to eating what he could find. The Human food was cooked - which made it weird - and spiced - which made it unpleasant - and the Chickens were guarded by humans with long guns but no-one seemed to mind him eating the scuttling Rats so long as he didn't do it in public. Then people screamed and called for the Police. He didn't know why. It wasn't as though they didn't eat socially. Just because they killed it first.

Today he'd found his way to the beach line of houses, following the shooting shuttle overhead. Keeping out of sight and running where the Humans wouldn't look meant he'd got there too late for that one but now something was going on somewhere else so he went there... And gave a small gasp as he saw Rika. Or, rather, her arms. He checked his over. Yup, the same arms. Well, except for the fact his 'gloves' were white all the way down from the red but she must be from off-world. Or one of his had lain with a Human which was unlikely as humans were quite nice but hardly handsome enough for a Celican to choose to mate with them so she must be from off-world! She might take him with her! Even if she didn't know it...

Using his skills, he approached the triage tent unseen and, hidden in the folds, listened to her. and determined to do what he could to help her without her seeing him. Questions could be answered later.

"Hivemind," Jenny called, "can I put in a requisition for a shoulder mounted, stabilized, rapid fire plasma cannon? I'm feeling so out gunned here!" She kept up her firing rate, concentrating on one particular point on the shields as the leech kept collecting power, its' colour changing from yellow to blue.

Tatiana's body spun as bullets hit her Armored Shell, a few even managing to pierce through the Shell's weaker areas, mainly at her shoulders and lower abdomen. This annoyed Tatiana to a degree, as she pushed kinetic energy into her left arm, "Gotta try harder than that moron!" She used the spin of her body to align her punch towards the mech's direction, sending yet another strike of kinetic force easily worth hundreds of pounds its way. Tatiana was flung back, hard, into one of the above deck structures, denting the wall with her impact and bouncing off, laying on the ground, somewhat dazed. Tatiana knew she was being reckless, but if she was going to become incapacitated, or her Armored Shell destroyed, it would be on her terms against that hunk of junk.

As Rika worked on her fourth patient, she started to notice a feeling of being intently watched, or at least a specific set of eyes on her. It didn't affect her as such, but it made her check behind herself a little more often than usual.

The patient she was looking after now had seriously sprained her ankle and had grazed both her knees pretty badly. Rika had already cleaned and patched up the knees before she thought about getting started on the girl's ankle. She'd need a couple packs of ice to reduce the swelling and a brace for the foot. After she told the patient this, she turned to find exactly what she needed at the end of the bed. "..Oh, there they are. Thank you~!" She said bluntly before picking them up and kneeling down to the girl's foot. "Right, I'm just going to carefully put these around the ankle. It's gonna be cold and hurt a bit, but trust me, it'll help okay?" The girl meekly nods before Rika puts the ice packs gently around the ankle in a way that both supports the foot and keeps pressure on the swelling. "Good, now that's going to sit there for a while.. I'll be back in a couple minutes to check on that, don't move too much and don't put weight on that foot. Thank you.." She said calmly whilst moving to the next bed. This patient had a small cut above his right eye and bruises up his arms, another obvious fall victim. "Hello sir, Dr. Rika Montoni, how can I help today?" She asks almost rhetorically. "Jus' the eye, luv'.. t' nurse said these'll clear up quick like.." He replied in a heavy Brightoner accent, shaking his arms at the last sentence. "Understood. Let's have a look then.."
The cut seems small, but it went rather deep. Seems like a sharp rock or stone sliced it at an angle, barely missing the eye itself. "You're lucky there, it cut pretty deep.." She notes aloud, still checking the wound. "..If it was a little lower, you could've been blinded. I'm going to need to clean that a bit, then give it a couple stitches. Hope you don't mind needles." Again, as Rika turned around she saw an antiseptic swab kit and stitch-kit sitting on the bed. "I - Hang on.." She picked up the items. "Okay, these weren't here a second ago.." She mumbled to herself, looking around.

First, the packs and brace, now these kits.. And did she get up to grab those bandages for the girl's knees? She might of..

Somthing's not right here..

"Ah, y'alright ma'am?" Asked the Brighton man, leaning forward. "Ah! Y-yeah, just fine. Let's see about you.." Rika replied, turning back to him.

She knows somthing's up now, Rika is on high alert..

The mech continued firing as his dark shields steadily consumed Ulrich's constructs. "THEY KNOW ABOUT IT. THEY KNOW, AND THEY STILL WORSHIP HIM AS A HERO. YOU ARE PROTECTING HIM. YOU ARE HIS ALLIES. YOUR -" he was cut off when Kolt slammed the helicopter into him. It exploded on impact and engulfed him in a fiery inferno. Out of the fire and flames, smoke and debris, the shadowy mechanical monster stepped forward. "GOOD HIT. I'LL GIVE YOU THAT. NOT GOOD ENOUGH THOUGH." He fired his minigun to Kolt's left, and his beam cannon to Kolt's right. He locked onto him and was about to fire his remaining micromissiles when Talya's beam attack erupted from below and slammed into him. His arms flailed to his sides and the mech staggered backwards out of the beam, almost falling down. It regained it's composure just before Tatiana's kinetic blast sent him reeling again just before the leach detonated and sent it finally sprawling onto the ground. With all of the attacks hitting the mech, there was a burst of darkness as the corruption retreated into the mech. It slammed it's fists into the ground in anger. Getting up, it prepared the attack that was interrupted.

Fwiptang! "AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!"

Gear had taken his shot and the mech reeled backwards, the pilot gripping his left arm that was hanging limp by a small amount of skin and tissue. The dark corrupting malice poured out from the wound and started... pulling the arm back on. As if the hatred was keeping him alive. It was keeping him going.

The mech roared again, unleashing a massive pulse of darkness in all directions. The corruption returned, and the shields recharged. He pulled out his wings and prepared to launch into the air. The wings were twisted. Distorted. They looked almost like they belonged on something organic. Dead and organic. The mech leaped into the air and took flight and started charging its beam cannon to its maximum power. If he couldn't take those worms close up, then he would send them to the bottom of the sea.

Kol did light damage. Shields are fair to good.
Kobor did light damage. Shields are fair to good.
Ulrich did heavy damage. Shields are damaged to fair.
Kolt did heavy damage. Shields are poor to damaged.
Talya did heavy damage. Shields are near broken.
Tatiana did heavy damage. Shields are broken.
Jenny did medium damage. Shields are broken.

Gear took his shot. The Mech's shields recharged.

Shields are Full. The Mech is airborne and using evasive maneuvers.

8 days left until full corruption.

--------------------------

Gear pulled back on the bolt and ejected the cartridge, quickly loading another one in.

--------------------------

Noting Talya's change in voice and having seen the files on the two of them and their relationship, Hivemind contacted Talya back.

>Talya, you are getting aggressive.
>Return to and reunite with Kobor immediately.
>Do not delay.

--------------------------

Tempest knew it wasn't safe to go out the ordinary way, so taking over some water from outside she jammed icy shards into the walls of the ship, tearing a chunk of the wall out. She lifted an ice boat to the hole and ushered the Prime Minister and his guards into it. "Sorry about that, Mr. Prime Minister. It's the only way out that doesn't put you in the middle of the fight." When he was safe, Tempest rushed to get to the rest of the crew, tearing holes in the side of the ship as needed and pulling them out into ice boats as she went. Each time an ice boat was full, she sent it off to land and made another one. It took time, and the ship rocked and groaned ominously from the fight above her, but she finally got them all out and sent them on their way. She watched them leave to make sure they got there safely.

Jenny found herself flung at the nearest wall under the impact and shook her head as the Mech got up and started flying. She shook her head clear. "I need a bigger..." She looked up at what she'd hit. "Hello, sweetheart," she said, forcing unwilling legs up as she looked for the door. a few seconds took her into the small space and she glanced around. "Manual," she said, examining the hud, "where's your manual, my friend? Ah." she drew on her knowledge and released the automatic function so she could fire the three incher from here on manual. "Manual load," she huffed, pulling one of the three charges from the ground, straining to put it in the firing position. "Jenny to Hivemind," she said over the comm as she worked on taking aim at the mech. "I found a bigger gun, boss. Duck and cover." When she had a clear shot, she fired.

”You know, that reminds me of something.” Kolt said as he followed the mech up into the air, wanting to make sure the dumb as bricks pilot could hear him. ”Why should we believe a single word that comes out of your mouth?” He said, constantly swerving behind the mech whenever it tried to turn and face him. ”The first thing we saw you do was attack two of our bosses, which you followed up on by trying to attack some of the civilians who had nothing to do with Gear killing your family! Assuming he really DID kill your family, which I doubt.” Kolt lied, dodging another missed shot. He was moving much more cautiously after getting part of his tail seared off, which he fully planned on kicking this jerk for once they got him out of his mech. ”I think if family were your main motivation for going after the old man, you wouldn’t have tried to do the same tragedy he supposedly did to you on the dozens of parents and children you would’ve killed if you weren’t so terrible at programming targeting systems. Though even that’s assuming you built this hunk of junk yourself, and you didn’t just buy it on the black market because you were too busy huffing paint fumes to actually create something for once in your pathetic life.”

she states adamantly, sounding anything but. Still she does start making her way towards Kobor, scooping up a second assault rifle on the way, and splitting her hands so she can aim and stabilize both properly, the majority of her attention still being on putting lead and micro-missiles downrange now that she's on deck.

Frustrated at the enemy's distance Kol glances around, before getting an idea, and starts carving a giant version of a particular butchers tool out of the ruined helipad, sharpening the edges by cutting them smooth with the energy blade of her staff before lifting up the 5m wide serrated saw-blade-like-disc she's made. It's rough, crude, full of small holes, dented and pockmarked, but has a the next best thing to a laser-cut edge on it.

"KOLT! DOWN HERE!" she shouts, holding the improvised saw blade up so he can see it, and hoping he needs something to throw. "MAYBE YOU CAN CLIP HIS WINGS!"

As Rika continued, the items she needed for each patient seemed to be 'teleported' to her. Something is definitely doing this, and it's not the other medics.. But what? And for what end? She'll find out, she's determined to. After finishing with her last patient, she told one of the other medics she was going to step out for a second before exiting the triage.

Once outside and away from earshot of the triage, she thought through her options.

Okay, Option one: Confrontation. Call out to the apparent being and ask them what their intentions are forcibly. Possibly scare them off. Option two: Ignorance. Continue to let them help you and hope they come to you. Option three: Hinderance. Ask for items you do not need, then complain about it and possibly annoy or sadden them enough to draw them out..

She thought about this for a while, weighing the pros and cons of each option. Finally, she goes for option one.

"Alright. I know you can hear me, and I know you're there. Come out and face me, you have my attention now!" She stated firmly, looking around. "Who are you? What is it that you want!?"

She let her words sink into the suroundings. No reply.

Rika sighed. "L-Look, I-I.. I don't want to hurt you, I just want to know what you are.. I want to help you, like you were helping me.." She continued calmly. "I-I just want to return the favour. Please come out."

She waited for a response, or a movement, or anything to happen..

He ummed. He ahhed. He reckoned he could outrun her if she had a go. So carefully and cautiously the little Foxboy poked his head out through a flap in the tent. "Um, h...hello," he said, sipping a water he'd borrowed from an ambulance. He blinked.

Rika turned to the voice and the sight she saw made her gasp. A young boy with fox-ears much like hers..

"W-wha.. I-I, ah.." She stuttered, making her mind up on what to say. "..Um, hello.. I, uhh, my name's Rika.. What's yours?" She took a light step towards the boy, seeing that he was as nervous as she was. "I'm, ah.. Thank you, for getting me all those things.. That helped me and all those people a lot.." She took another tentative step, hoping not to scare the boy. "You're pretty smart, finding all those things out for me. You're not from here, are you? I'm not from here either, just like you.. " She stopped and knelt down, smiling sheepishly. She tried to look friendly. "Do you want to know where I'm from? I'm from a huuge spaceship called the Beacon of Hope. It's somewhere waay up in the sky, so far up you can't see it from here. Do.. Do you have any parents? Are they around?" Her smile faded as she realised something. "I'm sorry, I'm asking too many questions aren't I? I can tell you more about me if you want.."

She stayed knelt down, waiting for a response.
