The Moon Howler wrote:"Balkan is not our *boss*!" Ur said, standing and crossing his arms on his chest "He's our Ambassador, the nephew of our Chieftain and our Leader in this place. And I think it's up to you to say what's with him, human healer!"
Lidley looked at the unconscious canine. "yeah, yeah, as if any doctor could diagnose a patient unable to talk... Spencers, where's the bar?! Ah, there!" he managed to look dignified while walking toward the well-furnised bar. Under the Very Puzzled glances of wolves and human, he took a shaker, then put in it, as he listed the ingredients, "Two spoonfuls of Cantaridina, one spoonful of powdered Alba black Truffle, black ground pepper, white ground pepper, one whole Jalapeno, Ethiopian piri-piri, gun powder, trinitrotoulene, nitroglycerine, and a short fuse. Three inches." After putting it all into the shaker, he walked to his patient, then started shaking with energy. Spencers paled: he was fairly sure he wasn't going to see the next sunrise!
"Well, what are you looking at, mongrels?! Just open your Ambassador's mouth or he's gonna spend the rest of day like a dummy for ER training! You want him cured or not?!"

The Moon Howler wrote:"Who's that?" Shadowclaw asked
["He's bound to the mortal world, similar to me - he's harmless if left alone!"] The demon's words echoed in Gilestra's head
"Oh. I asked because he just came to visit. And he's a bit nervous... But back to us, Shadowclaw: I think I have a way to help you regain your memories...though it's not going to be pretty. Are you game?"

RandomGeekNamedBrent wrote:"I only saw one," he replied. "Why are they supposed to be extinct?"
The old canine stood up. With trembling steps, he went to an old pot that needed seriously to be cleaned, tossed the fish in it then added water. "Because, long ago, they tried to help bring peace between the warring tribes. Their mistake caused the destruction of their city, creating what you know as Ruins of Atlantis. Since then, they live in a temporal limbo, forever prisoner in an endless time, and yet still acting as guardians should a situation turn really...ugly as you youths use to say. now get me those matches, this fish will never cook by itself."

Levi complied, grabbing the matches and handing them to the old dog. "What do you mean when you said "temporal limbo" exactly? are they trapped reliving the end of their days, or are they just in some dimension where time doesn't pass as it does here?"

The Moon Howler wrote: A pair of golden eyes shone through the hood, as the hooded canine spoke with a grave, powerful, echoing voice.
["I don't think you have much of a choice, runt!"] his white robe darkened slightly ans he waved his paw and teleported Randy next to his wife. He stepped against the Ilia and raised his arm at her ["Your arrogance knows no boundaries, spirit! You should be grateful the price for your actions was so light!"] The hooded wolf warned telepathically the lioness to stay away ["It seems my previous illumination wasn't enough to show you a mere fraction of my power, so now I will show you what I am capable of doing to teach others a well deserved lesson in respect!"] the armor of the spirit once again got to her, but this time, along with the pain from the pressure, her mind was filled with memories of the soldiers - both lycaons and wolves - that perished that day, causing the spirit to relive the last moments of each of them ["Imagine reliving this every day, along with constant pain from your armor - that was your true punishment, but the plead of a single, pure soul is what made them reduce that punishment!"] he moved his arm back, the pain, the pressure and the memories fading as if they were never there ["Is the lesson well learned, pup?"]
Ilia screamed in pain as the familiar pressure from her armor began building up progressively onto her slender body, iron edging into her flesh and crushing her bones. To add salt to the wound, the scenes of her troubling past, the war, where she recalled losing 3 brothers.

''MY NAME IS ILIA, NOT PUP!!!''

As the pain subsided, Ilia could only growl more in anger, her muzzle salivating with hate. She gripped her sword and stood up slowly. With a roar she quickly rushed to the hooded canine and gave him a knock with the tilt of her sword, knocking him to the ground. She held her spear to his neck as she closed into his dark face, staring menacingly at his glowing golden eyes.

''YOU LISTEN TO ME MONGREL!'' Ilia growled, maintaining her deathly stance. ''I have lived in torment way more than you can ever imagine! Yes, so it was because of lust that caused me to suffer like this, but I will be free from this sickening torture when I defeat Ereba. There can ONLY be one guardian, foul creature, and that is me!'' Ilia screamed, bringing the spear's blade closer to him. ''You will conduct a ritual to summon Ereba out of Randy, and I will kill him with my bare paws! You will also get another shaman here, and conduct a ritual to get Ereba's foul spirit out of Salina's cubs!'' Ilia said, snarling.

''Ilia! W-what are you doing?!'' Randy yelled, trying to knock some sense into his guardian, but somehow spite and vengeance was in the way of Ilia's reception to logical thinking. This was definetly NOT the Ilia he knew.

Quietly and calmly, without arousing the attention of Ilia, he closed his eyes and began communicating with Ereba in his mind. <<Ereba, I'm not sure what's going on, and I don't exactly trust you yet, but please, if Ilia....has to be stopped, please do so...>>

<<....With whatever means neccesary..>>

The wolf figure burst in laughter as he sank into the ground, leaving a patch of grass and blooming Moon-flowers as he materialized in the air behind the spirit, still laughing. The darkened by clouds and a strong wind blew through the place.

["Hahahahahaha! I haven't had that much fun in quite a while!"] his happy mood suddenly turned into the previous dark, grave one ["But such fun is not to be tolerated!"] he spread his arms sideways, as Ilia was wrapped into invisible, indestructible wraps ["You meddle with forces out of your league, spirit! You will pay the price for your arrogance!"] The wraps around Ilia became transparent and slowly visible, while they wrapped everything but the spirits muzzle ["You will speak with respect to everyone else the memories and the feelings will return tenfold! In addition, you will only come to Randy o'Salisgrave or his wife when they ask you to!"] A portal opened behind Ilia ["Was I clear, Ilia?"] he asked with a booming, thunderous voice.

Ilia yelped as an invisible force grabbed her and viciously wrapped her body, squeezing her armor tight into her fur and flesh, making her grimace with the unforgiving pressure surmounting upon the guardian. She barred her fangs and immediately had her eyes glowing her own eerie blue flame.

''GET YOUR PAWS OFF ME YOU FILTHY DEMON!'' Ilia growled. ''YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND DO YOU!? There can only be ONE guardian! A battle must take place in order to determine the rightful guardian of Randy and Salina! And I will not stand as my rightful bearer is being held captive by the works of darkness! NEVER!''

Ilia started heating up. A flame slowly began enveloping her body and soon enough a furnace-like fire could be felt within a small diameter of the canines and the lioness. ''I WILL BURN YOU IF YOU DO NOT LET GO!'' Ilia said, howling and producing a brighter cyan flame!

["I do-"] the hooded wolf began, while suddenly three figures materialized around him - two of canines, which resembled lycaons (but one couldn't be certain because of the robes and the hoods) and one, smaller, that looked like rabbit, all of them - with the same kind of robes and hoods as the wolf. Yet they did not spoke, simply stared at the wolf, who in return looked at each of them, then back at Ilia.
["I see... I let myself be taken by anger for a while... I will meditate when we get back... but there's one more thing I can do..."] The wolf clapped his paws and when he separated them, a small orb appeared, flying to the spirit ["You will stay in there for now, it will protect you."] the orb sucked the spirit within it, forming a small crystal sphere, which got encased in a silver medallion ["For now you will remain to guard the medallion..."] The spirit looked at Randy ["With your permission of course.."]

Balkan opened his eyes. He was in a strange place, surrounded by a thick mist, through which he could not see more than step ahead. The half-wolf noticed it was dark as well. He had no idea where he was, all he remember was that he fainted and grabbed by Ur and Vex.
Voices began to speak from various locations around him. Voices that sounded both familiar and alien. The half-wolf looked around - he couldn't see any of the sources, but neither could he tell where to look, the voices seemed to be everywhere.

"What is this place?" he asked "What entity has something in store for me now?"

Yet he did not receive any answer, the babbling around him continued. One voice though caught the half-wolf's ears, as his eyes managed to see a faint light in front of him. For better or for worse, he headed that way, as the voice became stronger than the noise around him, but still just a whisper, whisper he could not understand... until he suddenly got out of the mist, just like that, and found himself staring at a small campfire with a cooking pot hanged over it, few logs to seat on and a leather tent under a few trees close by. The small camp was surrounded by the mist. There was a strange figure sitting on one of the logs - it was a canine, judging by the size - a wolf, but covered with black cloak and a hood of the same color.
The wolf turned to Balkan, revealing a very few details - he wore black clothing underneath the cloak with his paws, white in color, could be seen and only his muzzle (also white) could be seen under the hood.

"Well, hello there, young traveler!" The wolf raised his paw "Come, join me by the fire, warm yourself!"

Balkan carefully stepped towards the other canine, which only made him laugh.
"Come on, Balkan, I don't bite..." he reassured the half-wolf.
The half-breed walked up to the fire and sat on a log on next to the hooded wolf. "...much!" he finished.
As Balkan moved away with a worried expression, the wolf in the cape burst in laughter.
"Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! Don't worry, Balkan, you're safe here."

The half-wolf gave the other canine a skeptical look. "I don't want to be ungrateful for inviting me to your cap, but who are you and how do you know my name?"

"I know a lot of creatures by their name, Balkan..."

Balkan felt as if he was burning from inside. A mere moment after one of his eyes opened - the other opened as well, as the half-wolf jumped out of the bed and shouted.
"WATER!"
Vex and Ur were just staying in one place, staring in terror at their leader.

The hooded wolf landed down, clearing the sky and regaining the white color of his robe and hood, holding the medallion in his paw. The golden eyes from underneath the hood were staring at Randy for a few more seconds, before he grinned and simply threw him the amulet ["She's all yours, Randy o'Salisgrave! You'll be the bearer of the medallion and therefore - she's still technically your guardian. Just call her by name and she has to come out."] The hooded being raised a finger ["But word of advice, young pup, she might be more annoying than ever."]
He stepped back and levitated back to the rest and waved his arms in the air, causing the four of them to disappear into the thin air, leaving a rain of white rose petals.

Balkan did not hesitate and grabbed the bottle from the doctor's hand and emptied it as fast as the liquid was able to pour out of the bottle and into his burning throat. Randy blinked twice as the hooded figure dissapeared into thin air, leaving him standing there beside Salina and the two other wolves, Varg and Ulv. He shook his head briefly, looking down at the medallion in his paw, glistening in the sun.

''Ilia...'' Randy though, gripping the medallion tight.

He turned towards the two wolves. ''Hey, I'm not very sure about this you guys. I cosider Ilia really dangerous now, but I need to talk to her. Is there anyway you can put some sort of restraint on her while I have a conversation with the guardian?'' Randy asked.

They reached the Archeology team's quarters. It was a big building - four floors high and wide. Dimitar lead them through the gate into the lobby and headed straight towards the stairs in front of them. The few people that had a day-off made way for Dimitar and the group with him, greeting them with a friendly smiles and on a few occasions - they patted the two canines. After they climbed on the fourth floor, they faced a double-door, which the Chief Archaeologist opened and the group entered.

"Welcome to the former prison of the military base!" Dimitar announced, pointing at the few seats in front of a beautifully ornamented wooden desk on the opposite side of the room "Or as it's currently known - the Archeology team's quarters! Have a seat!" he said and went behind the desk, sitting in a comfy president class chair "At least my colleague had a good taste in chairs" he mumbled as Martin and Mr. Meyer sat on two of the chairs.
"So, Let's get to business, shall we?" Dimitar asked "Why do I have the pleasure of seeing three guests in front of me?"

Mr. Meyer took off his glasses and while supposedly cleaning then, spoke "Dimitar, I am here to bring one bad and a two good news!"

Dimitar sighed "I can only imagine the bad one's first, yes?"

The old man put his glasses on and shook his head "I'm afraid so..."

“He’s finished, isn’t he?” The young man asked directly
Both Mr. Meyer and Martin nodded.
“Did he suffer?”

The old man shook his head “He left us in peace with himself.”

“You lie, he was worried if I should accept Martin as my own.” Dimitar cut him off with a stoned expression.

The old notary was caught off-guard “Aye, that he did, indeed, but the will says that you must take him.”

“There’s one more thing he should’ve given me…” said with the same expression.

Mr. Meyer nodded “You’re right in here as well – a box – quite a masterwork, if I may say.”
Martin took the box out of his sack and very carefully, as if worried not to damage something very precious inside it, placed it on the desk.

Dimitar sighed “Just too much for such a short amount of time…” the man grumbled, then got a hold of himself “Okay, so far only bad news are being told.” He gave Flint a piercing glare “And what’s your story, pup? Why are you here, with them?”

The Moon Howler wrote:Both Varg and Ulv stood up and looked at Randy, then at each other, then back at Randy.
Ulv stepped back, leaving Varg to explain
"You're holding the trinket, Randy o'Sallisgrave, you're the bearer. Bound spirits can't harm the one that holds the item they're bound to. You're safe..."

Ulv took the cloak off his garment off and put it on Salina "And now, your mate is safe too. The cloak bears runic protection. You may call the spirit."
Randy nodded nervously as he stretched out his paw with the medallion rested on the pads.

''Ilia...'' Randy said softly as he whispered while looking intensely at the medallion, which later began vibrating violently.

Terrified, Randy dropped the trinket and quickly backed away and stayed closer to Salina's side, holding her close.

Soon enough, the transparent blue image of Ilia seeped out of her prison, and she roared with fury. Not only was the armor clamping down on her body draining her energy, her two wrists and feet were bound with iron clasps chained to the medallion's hole in which her spirit had poured out.

''EREBA!!! COME OUT AND FIGHT ME!!!'' Ilia screamed, trying to kick and struggle her way out of the entanglement she was in! A deadly fury flamed within her eyes, and she snarled menacingly at the canines. But as she looked at Randy, she couldn't help but shed a tear whilst in her fuming anger.

''CALM YOURSELF GUARDIAN!!'' Randy called out. But Ilia did not deter aggressive demeanor towards Randy. In her eyes, Randy's soul was dying....as long as Ereba was imprinted on him. An agreement between Spirit/Demon and Mortal alike, to be bound to the bearer as the only protector in his/her entire lifetime.

Randy, already tired and exhausted from Ilia's stubborn nature, drew his blade and pointed it at Ilia, growling deeply. ''You will tell me everything...why are you like this?'' Randy asked.

Ilia's aggressive growling ceased, and within seconds, she started crying. She fell to her knees and hid her face away. Confused and feeling a little pitiful for the Guardian Spirit, he put back his blade and went towards her, but she shifted away from him, dragging the heavy metal medallion along with her chains.

''WHY! WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS?! TELL ME!'' Randy asked, already desperate to get an answer.

Ilia, shook her head and weakly got up, showing a defeated smile. ''Randy, it is because of your acceptance of Ereba, that I, your guardian, am going to die...''

Randy's eyes widened as fell to his knees. He clambered up to Ilia and held on to her strong armored leg. ''NO! WHY WOULD YOU PERISH! WHY-''

Ilia barked with fury as she kicked Randy away, sending him rolling back to where Salina stood.

''It is because of your decision to bond with this foul demon Ereba, that I will fail my mission. Make no mistake Randy, that there can only be ONE. One assigned guardian for each mortal. Be it Demon or Guardian Angels like me. I guess......I guess there's no point carrying on....'' Ilia said, beginning to remove her armor, starting with her silver shin guards on her legs.

''W...WAIT.....What are you doing....'' Randy asked, already termbling and holding on to Salina tight.

''When I remove this armor, I will go against the punishment which had been administered to me. I will die the moment I remove this breastplate right here....sigh....at least...I will finally be free.....from this suffering....even if I have to sink to the lowest depth of the netherworld to let Kruga punish me...so be it....oof....it's so...heavy....'' Ilia said, heaving as she began loosening the straps of her breastplate. She had already removed her shin, shoulder and arm guards, and she was loosing strength fast!

''Hey! Don't do that!!!! Please!! I'm....I'm sure we can work something out!!!! R-right guys!!!'' Randy cried out, looking at the two wolves Varg and Ulv. ''Guys! Help!!!!''

Levi soon was back where Koros was, but it was obvious something had occurred while he was away. and was still happening. He walked up to the lioness and said "I feel like I missed something here."

"Your guess is correct," Koros answered. "This farce has gone on long enough." her eyes shone.
An untrained eye would find the experience...sickening, as if riding a series of narrow loophole in a multidimensional rollecoaster, while the image of Salisgrave beach was being replaced with that from another time, another place...
And then Koros, Levi, Varg, Ulv, Ilia, Randy...and a towering red wolf with a purple flame for crest stood on the beach...
But there was no longer any crowd.
There was no resort.
And, in the distance, the thick forest was littered with splendid palaces.
"I am free," the warrior said, the living emblem of the glorious species that once was. he looked at the red wolves standing in front of him...and bowed, his paw cutting his belly. "And I see our bloodline survived. I am Ereba the Slayer, of the Purple Flame Clan." then he turned to Randi and repeated the gesture. "I am honored to be talking to you in the flesh, mortal."

"Well that just raises more questions," Levi said of the sudden shift and the appearance of the large wolf. "and almost my breakfast. But at least it was exciting, I guess." he chuckled a bit.

Randy shuddered in terror as the menacing stature of Ereba stunned his senses and sent him to the ground, using his paws to slowly shift away from the cold-blooded spirit, keeping his eyes fixed on his twisted expression.

''Ereba.....'' Randy whispered, eyes legs and arms turning jelly in seconds and jaw hanging open, feeling really scared.

''So....you're my guardian?'' Randy asked, still looking at him.

''HE IS NOT YOUR GUARDIAN!!!!'' Ilia yelled, quickly strapping back her breastplate and the rest of her armor. Grabbing her spear, she charged towards the demon, only to realise that she was still bound to the medallion. Realising this, she slammed her fist again the ground, roaring at her adversary.

''If you value Randy's life, you will help me release these chains to free me. Then we will fight to decide who is worthy of watching over this rightful son of Tricana! WHAT SAY YOU EREBA!'' Ilia yelled, pointing her spear at the massive figure.

The demon-wolf laughed. His claw pointed at the two warriors. "Why don't ask for their opinion, first, instead, hm? Or are you so arrogant as to not even ask them why they gave the sword to Radny?"

''I DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR OPINIONS!'' Ilia screamed, swinging her spear. ''All that matters is that we battle to determine who is worthy to be Randy's guardian!'' Ilia said, a slow blue flame raging from her body.

''Ilia, please, there's no nee-...'' Randy said, looking back at Ilia, but was suddenly cut off with a slap from Ilia. Rage had filled her so much that she somehow gained the audacity to hit her master. She was already blinded by rage, but somehow she felt terrible for doing that as Randy had been a little noisy to her ears.

''I JUST HIT THE ONE YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO PROTECT! WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO EREBA?!'' Ilia said, giving him a sinister smile.

All Randy could was cringe and cup his face with his paws....speechless as his mind went blank.

To add insult to the injury, Ilia decided to add salt to the wound by teasing Ereba. She got up and pointed her spear blade right at Salina's tummy. ''If you do not release me to battle, I'll make sure Randy's cubs gets it too!''

Varg and Ulv shared a few worried looks, before Varg jumped, grabbed the medallion and spoke "Back into the medallion, spirit, until the the wearer calls you name!"
The chains abruptly pulled the spirit inside, rendering her unable to move.
The wolf tossed the medallion back to Randy "Do not speak with her. It will be difficult to you, but do not get her out."

Lidley went to the bar and shook more ingredients into a new dose of 'cocktail'. He handed it to one of the red wolves. "Here, keep some with you. Shake before opening and pour it all down his throat. You know the drill."
Balkan crossed his arms on his chest "I will be fine, trust me!" he said, then sighed "But since it's doctor's orders..." he looked at Ur and Vex "Ur take the vial and keep it well."
Both wolves shared a puzzled look, but Ur obeyed and took the vial from the doctor.
"So" Balkan said, turning to Spencer "I think we were on to something before this... interruption..."

Koros took the medallion before Randy could take it. "As I said before, I'll take responsibility for this not to happen again. Randy, I know you may upset about this, but as you may recall Ilia wasn't assigned to you as a gift, rather as a part of a feud between spirits. Gilestra was satisfied. "He's starting to think with his head. Soon, he'll want to know, not just cry all over his shoulder. Why don't you help him remember?"

"That much I know. But I also need to know if I can rely on you to start mending this troubled relationship. I will support you any way I can, but I need to know if you have a strategy, something."

Besides visibly flinching at the word "prison", Flint kept his composure, his eyes wandering around the room as he took a seat next to Martin.
And after idly listening to the two men talk he returned his attention to Mr. Johnson when he was addressed.
"I'm looking for citizenship." He scratched the back of his head with his left paw and quickly glanced at Mr. Meyer for a second. "Or... at least a sort of long term stay here." He paused for to try and formulate an answer

"I came from the US on a boat... Tried to get the resort by cutting through the forest. Met some locals on the way..." He smiled. "Fortunately I have Mr. Meyers to thank, saved my fur and drove me the rest of the way here. And..." He stopped to think. Apart from talking about his criminal history, his encounter with a ghost, and the incident following his first few hours at the resort.
"That's pretty much it." He shrugged nonchalantly. Half truths were not lies, he reassured himself.

Dimitar gave out a heavy sigh "First those two and now you..." he grumbled, then stood up "Mr. Meyer, you'll stay here with me!" the young looked at the two canines "You two are to stay in the Mess hall under the watch of Bachvarov - the Chef."
The chief archaeologist turned his back on the trio, taking an old fashion microphone from a small desk behind him and turning it on. As he spoke, the corridors echoed with his voice.
"Bachvarov, prepare to get a couple of guests in the mess! See to it that they've been taken care of!"
Dimitar looked at the two canines with a raised brow "Well, what are you two waiting for?"

valerio wrote:"Sorry. Distracted. What did you mean about the spirit's 'volability'?"
Varg shook his head "Her soul is unstable from all she went through. From what the shamans have told us - those that gave her her armor have also increased her sensitivity a lot."
"Ya can say she's a bit more... touchy... only tens of times worse..." Ulv added.
"But such is the price of dishonor..." Varg finished
