Reginald was in pure awe. He SO wished he could be so agile and fast! And yet, he barked out, "C'mon, Prowler! You can get 'im!"
The thing roared again...but this time, it did not jump toward the cat -instead the Lurker jumped toward the wall, its claws penetrating the solid rock like knives into butter. With an unsuspected grace for such an apparently clumsy creature, Prowler reached the vault! There, in the shadows, it gurgled, its claws ticking rapidly.

Levi kept his eyes on the creature (well, as best he could in the dim light)
alright, where'll he come from next? he thought.

"I still have to be sure I'm not moving into his line of attack," Levi replied. But he did keep moving, all the while keeping an ear out for the next assault.

The cat made it just in time, before the monstrous mass landed with a ground-shaking impact!
Prowler roared. It looked like the creature was getting really annoyed now... But then the bats came and started flying all around its head, dodging its attempts to capture them.
"Aw, you're scaring him!" Reginald protested, as the creature moved back into the shadows.

The serpent opened his mouth, revealing two pairs of immense fangs and a row of smaller teeth -if 'small' could be considered dagger-size.
Virgil gave the example and...walked *into* that maw. Then he turned and offered his paw to Tacite. "Let's go impress someone."
Tacite squeaked a little gasp and hesitated a little before drawing a calming breath and walkinh in after Virgil. The ferret held ontp Virgil's paw, trembling slightly. She smiled up at Virgil, giving the signal to go

Virgil wagged as the immense serpent started slithering into the forest. Bigby was definitely a fast creature, it was like riding a train!
"So, how do you like it? Hey, look! There's Isaac and Icarus and two humans I don't know! Bigby, operation impression!"
The serpent did as insructed. Though he had already met the two new staff, he was fairly sure they'd react definitely impressed at the sight of the monster with its 'preys'.

Walking along the tunnel was like walking in a smooth tube. One had to watch his step not to slip.
"We're almost there," Reginald said. "Can you smell it already?"
Water. The air was becoming definitely cooler and moist.
And there was a growing blue light at the end of the tunnel.

"Okay, I was just playing with a dangerous creature and now I'm seeing a light at the end of a tunnel," Levi thought aloud. "I'm still alive, right?" he asked jokingly.

The glowbat on his shoulder chuckled. "Yes, you are. Get ready for a show only a few selected outlanders get to see."
A moment later, the tunnel opened in another round maw.
the two pets found themselves staring at a second tall glass cave...only, this one was filled with niches in the glass, and inside each niche, a glowbat! it was like staring at a constellation inside the very earth!
And on the bottom of the cave, 50 feet down, a small lake that reflected the light, just as if the sky had been inverted.
"Welcome to our nest," the glowbat said to Levi.

"Trust me," the bat on his shoulder said. "There's no other way out of here."
As if to underline those words, there came a familiar gurgle/hiss from the black depths of the tunnel.

"b-but," Levi stuttered. "ah **** Reg, I said I didn't want to get wet."
He then took a deep breath and then took a running leap into the water.
as soon as he hit the water, he yowled and made his way to the nearest dry land as quickly as possible.
He sat there waiting for Reginald. Luckily, the water from the lake was masking the tears on his cheeks.
"stupid nightmare," he said under his breath.

Reginald too made it to dry land, then went on all fours and shook himself. "Wow, never saw anyone swimming so fast!" he tugged at the cat's tail. "Now come on! You must see this!" his muzzle was pointing at another, smaller entrance. Even a pet had to crawl to get inside.

The tunnel was not long in itself but there were many curves shaped by the lava flows. Reginald was moving at ease as if he was a rabbit. "Almost there," he said.
And again, a growing blue soft light greeted those words.

The Moon Howler wrote:The engines roared and the machine lifted from the ground, heading for the first stop - Salisgrave.
The Helicopter was close to the lycaon village of Salisgrave. Inside, in the cabin, four figures were discussing the landing spot.
"Balkan, you can't possibly think we can land that close to the village." The first pilot protested once more, glancing back at human next to the Half-wolf "Mr. Johnson, please explain to him."
The man rubbed his temple "Okay, okay, let's make a compromise." Dimitar said, looking at the pilot "You want to land in the middle of the meadow - far enough from the village" he looked at the canine at the entrance "And you wanna land right next to the village." He sighed "So here it is - land as close as you can to the village without threatening it in any way. Is this acceptable by both sides?"
Mr. Johnson, why do you want us to land that close, anyway?” the second pilot asked.
What, do you two want to carry the chests by yourselves, while I fly this thing? Dimitar asked, raising an eyebrow.
No,sir!” Both pilots replied and began landing procedures.
The Chief Archaeologist looked at Balkan and winked at him. The half-wolf grinned in return and nodded, going through the door to the passenger/cargo part of the helicopter.

There he grinned once more at the rest of the passengers.
“We’ll be at Salisgrave shortly!” he announced “I could see the village and the humans are preparing to land at the moment.
He looked at the wolves and told them in the wolf tongue “Prepare yourselves!
Varg, Ulv, Ur and Vex all saluted and headed for their chest, opening it and taking some weapons and armor from it before they closed it again.
The items they took, they began to equip and not too long afterwards, they were in a ceremonial garment as well, wielding ceremonial, but still dangerous weapons. Varg handed Balkan a set of ceremonial garbs as well.
Balkan’s garb was a simple and short, enhanced with leather and silver ornaments tunic with a red cloak, reaching to the ground. The belt provided enough space for a few small pouches and a scabbard. The wolves’ garbs were similar, spare for the fact that their ornaments were made of simple iron and the cloaks – gray. The final components were shields for the four wolves and beads for the five, representing their position.

When they finished, Dimitar entered the passenger part/cargo bay of the helicopter. The man raised an eyebrow at the sight.
“Either this is some sort of carnival or a ritual I am not aware of. If it’s the latter – I would like some answers… later.” The Chief Archaeologist noted “Well, we’re about to land, ready yourselves!”

Before he could finish saying that, the helicopter landed. As the pilots agreed to, the helicopter landed as close to the village as possible, yet not close enough to have any effect on the huts of the village. The pilots turned off the engines

The Lycaons (being as curios as they are) were already coming from the village to see the human machine up close. The door opened and four armed wolves jumped from inside, making a small guarded perimeter in front of the entrance, then Balkan came out of the helicopter, along with Charlie by his side.
Dimitar looked at the rest What are you two looking at? Get out of the helicopter!

When they were out of the tunnel, the sight that greeted them was not less spectacular!
The water of an enormous lake rested on a surface of thick, natural glass. And in the water, there swam swarms of luminescent microorganisms, dotting and striping the water with their blue light. it was like staring at a liquid sky!
---
Koros, always up to her reputation, just gestured. Just as if she and Randy had never existed, they vanished...

...to reappear the same istant already close to the curious crowd.
Curiousness that turned into awe at the sight of a fabled lion-kin! Immediately, the villagers knelt on one knee, the shaman and the chieftain Amelia bowing deeply.
Only one of them forgot every possible manner, and ran toward Randy. "My love!" Salina barked and hugged him hard. "You are back!"

''Sa....Salina!'' Randy blurted out as he peered out the helicopter window, spotting his beloved wife among the crowd of villagers who came to witness this strange flying machine from the sky. He excitedly tapped Koros on the shoulder. ''High Shaman...over that's-''

And even before he could finish, he and Koros found themselves right in front of the entire Salisgrave village, just in time for Salina to embrace her loving mate.

''My wife!'' Randy exclaimed, letting out a breath of air in shock as the Lycaon female hugged him tight. He quickly recovered from the abruptness and tenderly put his arms around her waist, closing his eyes and closed his muzzle in on hers, kissing her slowly and intimately.

''Mmm..I missed you sweetheart..so much...'' Randy said in between kisses, feeling her tongue. He slowly released his muzzle and gently bumped his moist nosetip on his mate's. ''I hope you're not mad at me, Salina, because I was as anxious as you to get back....and I've got Shaman Koros over there to explain everything too...'' Randy said, nuzzling her chest. ''I'm really sorry for leaving you like this...''

"I knew you'd be back. You couldn't die. You could not fail our cubs." She gently stroked her belly. "Now, before--"
"Eereba," Amelia said. She was staring at the saber. "You have the fabled Slayer. How did you come into its possession?"

''Ereba?'' Randy asked, unbuckling the sabre wrapped around his body and holding the scabbard his paw. In one steady motion, he slowly unsheathed the weapon and let it's wonderous blade glitter on the sunlight. ''I got this from the Chieftain back in the Green Ring Village before my departure. I-ulp...'' Randy said, stopping in mid sentence as something grabbed hold of him within.

The blue shaman marks which swirled around his white furred body began fluctuating violently with aggressive colors of dark red and a misty cyan within the patterns, before settling into a ebony black. At that point, Randy came back to his senses and stared in shock at the evil which dominated his body.

''GAH!'' Randy exclaimed as he quickly dropped the sabre and scrambled back in horror as he stared at his arms. ''Wh...what's happening?!'' Randy shouted.

A tall figure, pure ethereal light tinted with red, emerged like smoke from the blade. it was a wolf, but it looked more like the dire ancestor of today's Tricana wolves.
The creature looked at Randy for a full minute, before pointing a finger at the saber. "I am yours. You are mine. Take me." it said with a voice that sounded like dread incarnate.

''NO! NO I WILL NOT!'' Randy screamed, making a point to this...demon. ''Neither you nor your denizens of the underworld will take me. Not even Cereberus' cousin Sylar! No! I stand strong and against anything that is evil!'' Randy yelled, drawing his other blade tethered around his waist.

''Stay back! And don't you dare hurt my mom or my wife!'' Randy said, shakily pointing the sharp end at the demon while guarding his family members..

The figure just reached out with his paw. He grabbed Randy's arm and effortlessly put the canine paw against the weapon's hilt.
Then the fingers contracted as if of their own will against the hild and grabbed it.
A moment later, just the time to lift Ereba...and the weapon seemed to melt into Randy's flesh. Metal turned into liquid, burning with crimson light, and then it ran all along Randy's arm, creating an elaborate shaman pattern...
Until the weapon was no more and the white-furred dog had an arm covered in a new tattoo in the place of the old, blue one. A tattoo that reached the right side of his chest, terminating in a stylized, snarling dire wolf head.
"I am yours. You are mine. We are one," the tattoo spoke, before falling silent.

Randy just gawked in shock as the deadly sabre began fusing into the dog's arm, and before he knew it, Ereba's form and the sabre had melted right into the fur and skin of Randy.

Stuttering with utter horror, he got up as he stared at the aggressive portrait of Ereba embroidered perfectly on his chest and arm.

''Sa...Salina....wh...what is this?! My blade....it's gone! And it's in here!!!'' Randy exclaimed, refusing to believe what he had just witnessed.

Koros examined the tattoo. "You have been given the spirit-slayer as a gift, and you accepted it. The blade recognized you as worthy and now your bond is complete. Only your demise could break it." The lioness turned her gaze to the wolves in the incoming helicopter.
What games were they playing?
