Flint covered his ears and looked around at the group. The dog opened and closed his mouth like he was talking.

"Well let's see, weed, till, fertilize, seed, water," Luke said, counting the steps with his fingers, "But don't worry, we're not vegetarians so we won't be doing much farming, heh."

"So, you two horses friends?" Amber asked Boomer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Khun stared out to the water.

"She was pretty, wasn't she?" Monique asked.

"Unbelievably so, unbelievably so," Khun said sadly.

"Don't underestimate the need for dirt food," Boomer answered. Preserves have made the difference between bellyful and starvation."
"Well," Botticelli said in answer to Amber's question, "We've been herded from the same herd, heh."
"Enough of that, please!" Donau said. "Just hop aboard, guys. Gotta go."

"A quarter, tops. Enjoy the scenery in the meantime!"
And it was *some* scene. The sun was projecting wonderful shadows all over the green surface, mists still rising from the densest areas of the forests. Seagulls circling over the boats, dolphins playing in the open sea. Lancaster looked like an ancient print had taken life, with activity quietly teeming all around.

One after the other, the trucks turned on their engines and started.
"Adventure awaits!" Donau said, slapping the cougars' backs. "So, have you decided how you will call your territory?"

"25 years. Arrived here when I was a wee kitten and Dad a total jerk. You could've given me a piggy ride, I was so small. Bernese family took me in and raised me into a farmer. Died ten years ago, I still live in their house and take care of their...well, not-so-much puppies anymore."

Amber looked at him.

"Why, Argon, of course," Amber said, "We almost always use family names."

Khun simply stood in silence as he watched the scenery play out. He just now realized, that, he did this on the cruise ship as well. He turned, sat down, and tried to stare at the bottom of the boat.

Flint nodded to Alyse before he walked over to take a seat next to Khun.
"Find anything interesting down there?" The dog asks, raising an eyebrow when he saw the other dog looking down.

"The area currently used as resort used to be a military installation of the Allied Forces in the Atlantic War, during World War II. It was a strategic shipyard to hide, repair and mantain a whole convoy fleet. After the War, it was abandoned. Spencers expanded it and repaired it, so now you can stuff an Oasis-class ship such as the Sea Dragon."

"Oh, many of the military vehicles were converted for civilian use. Trucks, jeeps, boats. I think that there are some tanks as well, although all ammo were given back to their governments. The base itself is a historical site, in a way. The main infrastructure is still there. We also have a couple of submarines for emergencies."

"We sing and exchange tales by the campfires, or put up a theater play once a week, and once a month the traders come to us and we have a great time all together. Sorry if it's not fancy media entertainment like you're used to, but there is literally not much time to distract ourselves. And when we can, we also like to read the books that Spencers gives us; hard workers we may be, but we don't want to lose contact with culture and knowledge. We eve have our own school for our youngsters."

Way to go dummy. He thought.

"Nothing I'd want to talk about," he said.

"One thing at a time there bud, we have to secure ourselves in the territory first," Luke said, patting the horse on the nose unsure of what kind of attention they like. Amber nodded.

"Fine." He elbowed the dog again. "Then at least for dog's sake wipe that frown off your face and put on a smile. Flint grinned. "You're bummin everyone out." He teased. "Or I'll have Reggie do something about it."

The wolfdog puffed up proudly, "No doubt about it! And you look better than any of those wild bunnies we may meet there."
"Almost there!" Alyse said, maneuvering the boat. "That's our destination, behold Blue Peak Shore!"
The tall building stood atop the tall cliff, and the cliff itself was a metallic wall composed of multiple layers. Alyse was right, that door was large enough to take in the whole Sea Dragon.
From the cliffside, the land gently sloped down in a long 'comma' shape down to the large beach. It looked like people were filling it already.
"get ready for a nice view," Alyse said, moving the boat toward the steel wall.
The bottom steel layer lifted up with a sound of heavy gears and chains. The little boat passed under a curtain of dripping water...
And in they were!
She hadn't joked about the size: the hangar hosted two nuclear submarines each laying on her own pier at the sides of the main pier destined to the Dragon. The hangar was longer than tall, and enormous fans kept the air going. And other ships were docked in the distance.
"Those are Virginia-class submarines," Alyse explained. "You won't get deadlest, more advanced warships. Those ones, instead," she pointed at the two battleships whose stern was visible, are Tirpitz-class battleships, modified to the more recent technological standards. It's said that Spencers recovered the original German ships."

He wagged his tail happily behind him, glad to know they'd reach land soon.
