Joy: Today is the last day that grades are really due. That means I have a little- just a little- time to fix a couple grades.

Sorrow: Since the grades are due today, I have had enormous amounts of stress put on me.

Joy: Tomorrow, I can relax. There is nothing more to do for the next three months or so. That is something I've been waiting for since the beginning of the 2nd semester.

I think we all wait for the time where no work is being given nor is due, sadly for me it's in 70 or so years and it is called Retirement.

I finally got around to looking at my final grades for last semester.

Sorrow: I didn't do as well in some classes as I felt I did.
Joy: I didn't do as badly in one class as I felt I did.
Joy: I don't have to retake any classes from last semester.
Sorrow: unless I really apply myself for the next 3 semesters (which I will try to do) I won't graduate with that great a GPA

Sorrow: Instead, I have three D's. I'm not sure if that'll land me in summer school, but as far as I know, D's tread the line between fail and barely passing.
Joy: Schoolwide carnival today. That and the last day of school is an optional attendance day. I think. It was last year

joy: still in the planning stages but the short film I'm working on this summer is really coming together.
Sorrow: my mom is stressed about our financial situation and I'm can't help but blame myself and this stupid study abroad coming up. I wish my mom had thought it out more and just said no.
Sorrow:I was trying to learn the bass this summer but I can't seem to find the time now that I'm working.

I know this would sound wrong, but that's good news to not fail anything ^^

Oh, that lonelyness in the crowds... I get that feeling quite often, but yea, a quick random talk, even like posting in games, helps, at least for me.

Sorrow - scored much, much less than I expected (and could have!!!) on the physics exam.
Kind of a joy - well, given some luck, I still have chances to get to the faculty I want to, or have the results reconsidered. But... Can't remember when I was lucky in that way last time.

i already took him on his walk. my dog is too old and too sick to play most games. he's 11years old and has multiple health issues

A little Joy: We did this "Team Building" activity for our class awhile ago. It was really fun. And I had a lot of hugs too.

Major upset: I started watching an anime series, expecting it to be a slice-of-life, when in fact it literally slapped me right in the face with drama. I mean, the reason I stopped watching any movies and real dramas for a long time is because I have a very low tolerance level for climax scenes and strong conflicts, and having to see all that again without any preparations really shocked me. Heck, my chest is still hurting.

Little joy: After reading the synopsis of the anime, and watching a few more episodes after that, it turned out that this anime series is a slice-of-life, only with a more realistic outlook and logical reactions to situations than the others I've seen before. I find it to be quite enjoyable at the moment, chest pain and all.

Worry: I'm a little worried about myself at times, and whether I'm ready to live out my life as an adult, with these childish behaviours and outlooks....

Hope: ... still, I'll hold on to whatever I learned from the counselor, as well as the quote below. A silver lining is always there, it's just a matter of finding it ^^

I admire how you can be so emotionally effected by a series at such a deep level. I don't seem to have any kind of emotional response to such programs any more

Still, you can always strive to be better, and make them proud again (though they are already proud to be your parents for the past years, even if they rarely, if ever, show it).

Well unless you become a multi-millionaire I think any parent would be ashamed of their kids. My parents are annoyed because I don't take their advice, because when they take it themselves they fail.

I'm not sure that's an option. I'm finally pretty happy with who I am and where my life is going. If I have to choose between my happiness or their pride I'm not sure I can ever get it back. I think kyuubi kitsune is probably right. If I don't have money to show them I doubt they'll ever be anything but dissapointed

I see, that's kind of a sad way of looking at things...
It is true that your own happiness and contentment is of paramount importance to leading a good life. I tried pleasing others, believing that what they say is right, and I have definitely suffered a lot because of it.

However, even if your parents are ashamed of you now, and you could not bring them any worldly possessions as an adult, they would still acknowledge you as their son, and have brought you up to the best of their abilities, despite making mistakes along the way. As Rico had said, they will always love you, and accept you as who you are in the end, even if they do not show it, have trouble showing it, or just flat out refuse to show it. That, I believe, defines who a parent is.

I guess I'm saying all this because I have thoughts of wanting children of my own myself at random times, and tried to think like a father would. I'm still too childish and irresponsible to be one, though.

While it's not right to completely ignore advice that may come from parents, at the end of the day making them proud is not your top priority. Do what's best for your future. Not their impression of your future.

Try not to focus totally on the future, or you may not enjoy the present and will become sick with worry.
