I see a ton of Magic Cards at our local Pawn Shop. ^^ No idea how much his cost though, nor the value of them. Just he has an abundance of those and sports cards.....no Pokemon cards though. ;-;

You sound more awesome than loserly. Did you ever mention collecting Magic cards before? I think I'd have remembered if one of my friends was a fan as well.

Also, get those really cheap plastic sleeves for comic books.

 Re: Do you collect anything?
Or you can use Webcams in the case that you have them, but try to keep this thread to collections, not planning card games. (PM is good for that) Apologies if that is any bit Minimoding, dunno what would be considered Minimoding.
Anywho, I think we might end up with a 4th Virtual Boy soon, reason being we want the case and the boxed games that are sold with it. Will probably need to sell one or two of them to make our money back. ^^;

 Re: Do you collect anything?
You won't get a headache if you make sure to play in a dark room and take frequent breaks. Your eyes are overwhelmed when you quickly go from just black & red to a blast of bright colors. Today's trip was successful. The Blockbuster Case looks great, and so do the game boxes. These massive plastic cases were used by Blockbuster to rent out the console in 1995. Each store only had a few. I was surprised to discover that the Mario Tennis box (most common VB game) was actually the rarest. The game was packed in with every Virtual Boy system, so there was no official retail box ever released. However, Blockbuster was given special ' For Display Only' boxes to advertise the game rental. When the Virtual Boy failed, these were sold along with the plastic cases and everything else. Judging by their price and scarcity on eBay, I don't think many still exist! We also stopped by a local Pawn Shop and found a complete in box Konami LaserScope. I tried it out when I got home. For the first time, I was able to make consistent hits on Duck Hunt! The cross-hair is very accurate, and you shoot by yelling fire (or anything really). That blasted dog had nothing to laugh about today. Oh shut up you... "Fire, Fire, Fire!"------- I don't know if people are interested in hearing about our whimsical video game collecting adventures or not. Do posts like these interest any of you? If so, I can keep posting interesting finds and facts related to them. I just want to make sure I'm not spamming this thread with posts that nobody is interested in.

 Re: Do you collect anything?
I picked this up at the flea market today for just 3 dollars. It is new and unopened with the shrink-wrap fully intact. Apparently new copies are going from 200 to 300 dollars on Amazon and Ebay. Used copies without the box are 40 dollars and up. Does anyone know anything about this game? I can't figure out why it would have such a high price tag on it. Is it unbelievably rare? Does it have a cult following? It looks like it is in the same vein as Half Life. ------ The rest was a mix of games for various systems. Boxed SNES/NES games were a nice find, though not worth much. The unopened GBA, DS, and PSP games were only a dollar a piece. I didn't know there was a sequel to Cool Spot, the 7up mascot game. I'm looking forward to playing that when I have the time, haha.

All I know about System Shock is that Bioshock is an indirect sequel to it, and that game is pretty big.

It has a huge cult following and is considered a very very good game, with a lot of stuff in modern space/horror FPSs coming from it and the first; but its not worth that much at all, even new, it didn't undersell that much though it wasn't a huge hit. And Sleet as far as I know Bioshock is not in anyway a indirect sequel to System Shock 2, its a spiritual successor to it. Calling it a sequel, indirect or other wise, is saying it takes place in the same universe, which as far as I know it doesn't.

I guess spiritual successor is the best word, then. I haven't played either so I don't know how much similarity they have.

 Re: Do you collect anything?
Looking closer at the price...
It looks like the last completed New in Box copy went for $140, but there was a tear in the seal.
From my experience, the price of sealed games tend to change very quickly. When I got my sealed copy of Shenmue 2 PAL, it was selling (and completing) for around $300. Since then there have been a lot more introduced to the market and now they are down to $150.
Sealed games are a very limited market. I don't know who has the money or desire to pay that much for a bit of shrink-wrap. But it is always nice to have some specimens of your own.
Each collectible has a story, and this one came from a box of PC games at the flea market =)

 Re: Do you collect anything?
So, the start-up to my coin collection: lots of Canadian silver! My apologies for the glare; they're all in airtight plastic cases. Here's the ten one-ounce, 20 dollar coins that used to be my grandfather's. They're from the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary: And here's what I just got in the mail late for Christmas: four Arctic fox coins! Special thanks to my buddy Copper for alerting me to their existence! *hugs him* They're 5, 4, 3 and 2 dollars and 1, .5, .25, and .1 ounces from big to small, respectively. I don't get how the big coin with the vixen and kits is worth 5 dollars whereas the Olympic ones are worth 20 each despite being the same mint, metal, purity, and size, but whatever; they're both worth much more than their face value anyway.

I would like to start collecting lights and sirens used on emergency vehicles. This would culminate in a mini-pumper or other fire truck or ambulance, of course. = P

 Re: Do you collect anything?
Nintendo 64 Store Kiosk I came across this beast on Craigslist a few days ago. The seller was a contractor who desperately needed money. I shot him an offer, and to my surprise, he quickly took me up on it. Next thing I know, I'm hauling this 300 pound behemoth onto a trailer with my father. The whole thing is made of steel. It cannot be taken apart into smaller sections. We brought it home, cleaned it up, and fixed the lock mechanism and the right speaker. Apparently a rat had made itself home inside this thing and chewed into the audio half of the AV cable. Luckily, that cable was just a standard issue N64 cable. I had several replacements. We moved it to a temporary space in our game room. Now we need to find a place for it in my room, but that won't be too hard. The hardest part was getting it up the stairs...

That game in (probably) that kiosk was like what opened my eyes to video games independent of my family for the first time in my life. Nostalgia hits hard.

 Re: Do you collect anything?
I like collecting knives. And I don't want that to sound condescending. I don't know why, because I try to avoid using them, (especially if they're over $10) but I've always been fascinated by the way they look and feel. Unlike a lot of people I know, I don't have knives for the soul purpose of making myself look cooler. I just like them. My Favorite one that is the one that I got for Christmas. It's by SOG and it's called the Fielder XL. It has a wooden handle and its blade has a beautiful reflective finish. Is this an unusual thing to collect? I'm actually always a little nervous when I tell people I collect knives, because I never want to give people the wrong impression about me.

 Re: Do you collect anything?
It is not really an unusual thing to collect, no. I see many people taking the habit at the Flea Market. Tables solely filled with pocket knives. You can pretty much collect on anything, as long as it makes you feel happy doin so. ^^

 Re: Do you collect anything?
I prefer pocket knives myself, but I try to avoid knives from Flea Markets. I figured that it would be smarter to save and spend a little more money on a good knife that will last me a long time, them $10 on a cheap on that will get dull fast or break.

Hehe, well if you have so many, I doubt you will need to use the bad ones. However I have never had a use for a pocket knife so I have no idea what they are good for. ^^;

Well, like I said I work on a farm and so I always need to have one on my person. And to be honest, I only have like 5. They range from about $30-$50, which I know isn't a ton of money, but I am trying to save for college. I actually rarely spend much on anything, except for food and gas. Haha

 Re: Do you collect anything?
There is a story behind it.
The previous owner was contracted to do some construction work for a lady. Before the work was to be done, she gave him a call. She offered to give him a game system in place of money. "Just a game system?" "No, no. Its not like that. Just wait until you see it!"
While he was working, he noticed it standing in the living room. Christmas was getting close and the kids would love it. He had to have it! He accepted her offer and got his strongest friends to help him haul it home.
He wrapped it in wrapping paper and put it beside the tree. The kids thought they were getting a giant robot, haha.
This was still a very recent console when he got it. Imagine being the kid on the block with this in your house.
