Hey everybody! What with the influx of new members and the fact that this thread hasn't been active in seven months, I decided to bump it to allow new posts.

I'm also male, but I posted here a few ages ago didn't i? I don't remember. XD I always wanted to make a script to index this thread and compare the number of males to females by searching each post for keywords. Though I have a feeling the result would be somewhere around 90% male and 10% female.

The lopsided ratio of male:female isn't surprising, as the Housepets! forums is host to a large amount of furries - and as Wikipedia and the internet in general tells me, there are a lot more male furries than female ones to begin with. (Not that that's a bad thing of course, nor a good one; just an observation.)

Can we please not stereotype women as people whose predominant social life on the internet is Twitter, FaceBook and Myspace? While I'm not a woman myself, such statements are unequivocally demeaning to the opposite sex, not to mention patently false.

I'll give that, statistically, women use social networking sites somewhat more than men (Though even that has several contradictory studies to show for it). However, I highly doubt that there is any evidence pointing to men showing more variety in their internet habits than women, or that women are more likely to stay cooped up in their Facebook and Twitter profiles and not take a look at the literally hundreds of thousands of online communities and games throughout the web.

alright, let's get back on topic. things we agree on: there are a lot of guys on this site and it's not that surprising.

now back to sharing our genders. again, I'm a dude.

There is ample evidence that males venture onto internet forums more often than females do. Does that mean there's anything wrong with girls that go to forums? Of course not. But the statistics are there and hard to argue with. The only thing that can be questioned is what, if anything, the statistics mean.
