You wanna be my third e-husband if my other two e-marriages go belly up? I haven't found Hlaoroo yet, but Deske seems interested.

That helps not at all. Is it decidedly German sounding? Can I play 20 questions for it?Render wrote:It's not that easy with my real name. In Germany it's a male name, in the US it's rather a female name (also the spelling is slightly different).

Well that doesn't sound like a healthy relationship. Spouses ought to consider each other equals, I reckon.Amazee Dayzee wrote:No Hlaoroo. You do not get a say in it. *puts on a shirt saying Hlaoroo's e-wife*
Interesting. What exactly constitutes as a female writing style? How is this different from a male writing style and how much differentiation is there between the two styles?Therolyn wrote:However, I have been mistaken for female a few times in certain old haunts online, due to my typing/writing style in the past.
As a man who tries to look at least somewhat presentable, I like shoes. They add character.Drake wrote:The only time I have seen typing style be noticed was when I went anonymous by mistake. I guess how I type is noticeable and different enough.
I think for many, there are different things some people of different genders might focus on or different stereotypical topics (like shoes, and cars, obviously this isn't a positive thing and kind of rude to assume someones gender by if they like shoes or not). though I have no idea if I am right or make sense. Either way it shouldn't matter what a posting style says of a person. obviously it isn't the best indicator.

I think it's safe to say my choice of footwear is about as stereotypicaly manly as you can get.
nowadays you actually have to get into what kind of shoes to use that as a stereotypical judgement, some guys spend hundreds of dollars on high end sneakers.Drake wrote:different stereotypical topics (like shoes

personally, I get one pair of Dr Scholl's sneakers at Walmart for about $30 and they last me a whole year to a year and a half.
I'll start first by clarifying that in all but twice in my experiences it has only happened during the period of my life when I was posting up works of fan based fiction. Also an old female gaming friend also assumed me to be female for nearly a year at one point and shortly after I eventually revealed I was actually male, we drifted apart. I cannot be sure why it was the case but I think these sort of mistakes are based on the experiences that the other may or may not of have. It doesn't seem to be held to each gender, while as I know of I've had had more ladies online assume I'm female than men online both have mistaken me in the past. My guess would be that I don't have much of the stereotypical male mannerisms, nor do I tend to converse in a way that easily points me out as male. As for my writing/typing until recently I was always reserved in what I would say, which would of made it more difficult to judge me.deepskycyan wrote: Interesting. I've had people assume that I was male in the past, but when I asked, they just confessed that they assume everybody on the internet to be male unless proven otherwise. I did inquire on whether my writing style affected their judgement, but they said no, and that it wasn't an accurate way to determine a persons gender, as any person of any gender could adopt either writing style.
So I'm genuinely interested in this subject, hope it's not too off topic.
