Post Dumbest thing you believed as a kid?
When I was little, I got stung by a bee and developed a phobia of bees as well as a temporary phobia of flowers. I was even afraid of fake and plastic flowers because I thought they would attract bees to sting me.

I thought all people naturally died at 100 unless they were killed

I believed that, somehow, animals talked. I had it on good authority, too. "All animals speak English. They just have very limited vocabularies and really thick accents." Or so a farmer who lived near us told me. My mother, Irish and Quaker, absolutely rejected Santa Claus but she told me that animals talked on Christmas midnight. Regards.

That belief was the basis of a Christmas movie. That was an interesting belief.

Actually, the movie was probably based on the folklore. At any rate, my mother's tales - which were shared by some of the other neighbors with a bit o'the Barney in their bloodstream - shared these stories. It's a mix of Celtic lore, folk Christianity that's not entirely orthodox, and parental tradition, I figure. I vaguely remember a number of those seasonal cartoons - some very sweet, others...um.....not so much. Regards.
