Anyone into any winter sports? I've been really interested in snowboarding lately but I'm apprehensive to try to learn, mostly because of the gear, I know you can rent a snowboard but I doubt you can rent snow pants and gloves and stuff... or can you???

Anyway what's the learning curve? I looked into a snowboarding basics course which is an hour long, but how long before I could actually enjoy it instead of falling down every 5 seconds?

Well its give and take. If you have good balance then it wont take too long to learn how to bank and turn without falling. It just took me awhile to learn not to go straight down. heheh breaking something is usually a good way to learn.

Well... On the rare chance I get, I love to play Trudge Hockey. All the em.. rules of hockey without the ice/street and skates, and trudging through atleast a foot of snow in some feild with a brightly colored ball and such. Heh, it's such fun. As for snowboarding, I've dabbled lightly in it, nothing major due to my whole lack of balance while moving with my feet held in place.

NO ice or snow in Adelaide (ever), except for the ONE rink we have which is really very small and the snow is not for skiing, just sledding. Either way, I like ice skating, but I haven't gone for almost two years. So I'm probably so bad at it if I tried I'd roll my ankle 50 times like I did the first time I skated.

It rarely snows where I live, but if there's ever any sleet my friends and I (proper grammar FTW!) take a cardboard box or something and slide down the steepest slope we can find, which is usually the side of his house >_>;

But every now and again I go to the ice skating rink, though my feet are incredibly sore after 30 minutes of standing on the skates awkwardly.
