Very well done, Rick, good story and characters.

Poppa bear invited his ex just to punish her, I am sure.
And perhaps, despite it all, momma bear may prove herself a tad better than we've been led to think :?

In case it flew under your radar, chapter 3 started here.

PG-13 seems all the more appropriate, given that life rather than media exposes a younger and younger audience to the world depicted here. Deeply moving and poignantly funny, salted with Rick's unique balance of emotional ranges and cinematic art. Life in the "Twenty-Worst" century seems to compel each of us to become some kind of hero.... The lead characters capture that struggle and its loneliness so well.

"Lots people these days lead lives of noisy desperation!" Porky Pocupine.

I'm really loving A&H Club, it is really well written, a perfect cross between comedy and dramatic story-telling.

I wasn’t even aware of this until I received a recent notification for A&H Club Volume 1 from Amazon. Just caught up on it last night and am very much enjoying it.

For months I've been debating which I like more, A&H Club or Housepets. A&H Club is only like a twentieth as long as Housepets, so I guess it's better for something you can just read in one sitting. Yet even with how short it is, you get so invested into the characters and story so quickly! But Housepets on the other hand is also amazing because of how much characters and story goes into the series. Also it updates much more frequently.

I guess I just rate them as evenly matched and Rick Griffins is absolutely amazing.

This is currently my favorite of Rick's comics, I love the romantic slice of life stuff and the small cast. If there's anything I want to see from this then I want to see how Hilde and Ali get along when he's old enough to talk for real.

And I just realized the double meaning of the title: Athletics and Health club and Adrian and Hildegarde club... Yeah I'm kind of dense about stuff like that.

That is what most people want in a strip. It was a BIG part of what they came for.

He does ... kinda hoping to get some of that back in Housepets!, at least once the conflict ratchets down in the current narrative. Getting two comics a week should hekp pick up the pace. ;)

I love how Hilde is trying to make things work and sacrifice her hobbies to try, and really love Adrian's bashful panic and "look a distraction!" reaction

The "look a distraction" reaction is always gonna be a classic. I really love how ridiculous it can be. Ever since I saw it here for the first time:

"A message under the door"!? That's rarely good ... could it be the dreaded yet anticipated eviction notice?
Actually, that's not very funny - it's raining eviction notices up here in northern New England. :(

Yeah, a friend of mine went through nine levels of hell fighting an eviction. The housing support money that keeps him in his apppartment got delayed on a technicality and the complex company's automatic processing system hit him with the 30 day notice. He had to go through several different bureacracies before one of them condescended to do their stinkin' job. What an ordeal !

The owners knew and understood the problem, but they still called the sheriff office to give my friend the "next-time-you-see-me" theatrics (The officer, who had dealt with these slip-ups before was chagrined about the whole thing). Renting is better than owning - until it isn't.
