"Emmeration"?
Roland Emmerich wants to make Asimov's Foundation Trilogy into films.
I'm two-minded about that whole project, on the one hand he himself blatantly states it's a Follow The Leader of Avatar (causing in the worst case a dumbed down plot), but on the other hand it could be the beginning of a line of (sorta, kinda) faithful sci-fi adaptations made possible by the success of Avatar. I would like to see the Culture on the big screen, but I don't think this will ever be the case.

Well if there is any good at all to come out of Avatar, it will be increased interest in epic sci-fi films.
I'm sure the cold hand of science will be able to overcome his magical powers

Re: "Emmeration"?
As long as they're faithful to the books. Well, maybe not entirely, I mean there were a few scenes in Prelude to Foundation that might come off as a biiit lowbrow if put on the screen..
I only read PrF, but I loved it and want to get further into the books. Loved I, Robot as well. adstdvbsd GoSHdaRN that horrible movie "adaption".

I actually still really like Roland Emerich and Asimov, so that sounds cool.

I said "some books" to make the phrase look more epicThe Game wrote:Yes!!! Percy Jackson and the Olympians being one of them!!!!!!RaptorAnton wrote:Some books should better stay just books.Sketcherofstuff wrote:I actually still really like Roland Emerich and Asimov, so that sounds cool.
But we all know, that there are lots of books, that really should stay books. I don't want to say, that I'm too conservative person, but... Film is a cuted book, if you know, what I mean. Director has only 1,5 hours to tell us a story, so plot from the book will be cuted, and sometimes it's being cuted in very important parts...

Re: "Emmeration"?
None of the events of the movie happened in the book, and vice versa. it was a good movie, and would have been great had they called it by its original name (Like hardwired or something like that), but then they decided to throw in a couple references to Asimov and retitle it I, Robot for the publicity. There's a reason the movie credits say "Suggested by" and not "based on" :B
If you were to make a faithful adaption of the I, Robot book it'd probably be better to do it as a miniseries.
