What do you do for fun?

Post by Anthroguy101 »

What do you people do for fun? I'm curious to find that out. Me, personally, I like to:

>Go skiing (What else can you do in the North at wintertime?), I go on diamonds frequently
>Go bowling (I'm one of the best bowlers in my league. Bowling has been a major part of my life since I was 2 since my aunt and uncle own a bowling alley in Minnesota. It is a part of me, and I will always love it. Also yes, I do take the scores and the sport very seriously.)
>Go shopping
>Read magazines and newspapers
-Warren Times Observer (though I've noticed numerous editing errors)
-Erie Times-News
-USA Today (the very best newspaper)
-Popular Mechanics
-Popular Science
-PC World
-Wired
-Consumer Reports
-Motor Trend*
>Watching sports
-Football
-Hockey
-Baseball (playoffs only)
>Write stories

*the last six relate to my technophilia

How about yourself? What do you like to do when you're not on the computer?

Actually, most of my hobbies consist being on the computer.
I really enjoy writing stories, drawing, and listening to and playing music. I also really enjoy paintball. I mean, really enjoy paintball. I don't do it enough. I'd love to own my own paintball park one day.
I'm also a huge MMORPG fan, which is something else I don't do enough, for money reasons. I've played Runescape, World of Warcraft, and Aion before, and I'm always looking for new online games.
Finally, I love cars. I also subscribed to motor trend for a period of time, but money got in the way, so I don't anymore. Why didn't I post on the new favorite upcoming model thread, you might ask? Cuz I don't have one. I'm not familiar with upcoming models anymore, after I dropped the subscription. Anyways, back on topic, I love driving, and my dream car is a Dodge Challenger.

Hmm....

Well, let'sssss seeeeee...

Things I do very often:

Play Video Games

...

Yeah, a lot of video games. But occasionally, I find some time to do other things...

Roleplay (manly with the other forumites here)
Writing (wish I had more time...)
Drawing (very rarely...trying to find more time)
Violin (been playing for about 8 years)
Drums (very basic stuff)

Sports...I hardly ever do any sports...well, mainly because the sports I enjoy aren't readily accessible for me...

Shooting (Shotgun, Rifle, Archery...Minor! No gun for me! Good thing Boy Scouts offers a chance...)
Skiing (No snow where I live. But! I can do diamonds and go off jumps. Type II skier...)
Rock Climbing (Do I need to explain why it's hard to get that organized?)

Social thingies...

Listen to my friends play music
Hang around and do nothing
Roam around and do nothing
Play music with my friends (certainly interesting when you somehow combine electric guitar and violin)
Marvel at one of my friend's collection of various bladed weaponry (Riddick hunter daggers...huh.)
Multiplayer gaming

...that's all I can think of for now.

I don't have much off-site time. *laughs hysterically*

I read a lot, sing (usually only in the shower), and draw. I used to be a college student, but I'm between degrees at the moment (BA obtained, plan to start MA in August) so I have more free time than I used to. Trying to get a job, possibly as an EMT for the county-run ambulance service or as a reserve deputy sheriff. I am very shy and not terribly outgoing, so I do not socialize much. Hmm, I am a journalist, so you can assume that I do journalisty things like writing and photography, too.

Friends
Friends
Friends

I am always on MSN and AIM, in terms of keeping in online contact with people, but I also love to go out when I have the chance. I will do anything with people, so don't try to get a list out of me. It won't work. People are my fun, and having a life is what my life is about. Yes, I'm just that extroverted - but I kid.

When I am alone, though... eh. Not as fun. I play about online, see what's up on sites I frequent, and then if nothing, there are sites I frequent much less that I can also check, and then if nothing, I complain to anyone and everyone who will listen how bored I am. If there is nobody to complain to, I draw, mess around with music, or write (though sometimes I will get into a mood for those things and do them even when I have people I can talk to). I also sing a lot but only if I have nothing else to do, hence why if you are stalking me outside my house at night you will probably hear a wailing voice through the window.
I was going to make a joke but then I did.

Most of my free time is on the computer. |: And this is what I do on the computer;

- Surf the web
- Draw with my tablet. (Rare since it's hard to use. LOL )
- Learning C++ Programming
- Finish up my drawings with Photoshop. (Outlining, Cell shading, etc.)
- Listening to Music.
- Chatting with my friends on MSN(Or pretty much anywhere we can chat.)

And, if I'm not on the computer, I'd be outside;

- Hanging out with my friends.
- Bowling. (If I have money and I'm TERRIBLE at it.)
- At the arcade. (Playing DJ Max Technika)
- Walking around aimlessly. (Though it's dangerous to do that in the Philippines...)
- Window shopping at the malls. (Mostly for video games.)

Also, if I'm not on the computer but I'm at home;

- I doodle/draw on my sketchbook.
- I do ORIGAMI. (If I have enough papers.)
- Read a horror fiction.
- Dance. (Rare but if I'm in the mood and no one is looking, WHY NOT.)
- Sleep. (Self explanatory.)

And that's what I pretty much do during my free time. 8D

School has a funny way of getting in the way of everything I'd like to be doing, like
Playing music (cello & guitar)
Listening to music
Writing music to play
Doodling something
reading
Writing fiction (well, writing a short passage to a story that'll never get finished)

and doing stuff outside, like
BMX
shooting
running
other sports
anything in the mountains, like hiking, camping, fishing

oh and gaming sporadically. Then of course is an hour or two daily of my usual online stuffs.
Never ask me what my favorite show is because I don't watch enough of it to have one.
Or my favorite movie, for that matter. So yeah, I'm pretty independent on my end.

Draw comics, portrates, or just random crap, write creepy disturbing short stories with tragically ironic endings, all of which I plan to publish eventually, watch movies (saw Book of Eli yesterday), Hang out with friends, NOT sleep, NAZI ZOMBIES!!! (which I now own and no longer have to play at my friend's house), listening to British rock music, computer, watch TV, and build contraptions out of wood and stuff.

He just does college radio. 91.9 on the FM band in his local area if I remember right. He can give you specifics, but I don't think it's anything flash, and I kind of doubt he'd mention the comic on it...

That was me... assuming every college radio station is not 91.9 FM. We were only supposed to promote university-related events, but I didn't get in trouble for airing several commercials for "Godorfelschuldtz Engineering," my made-up sponsor. I also did too many things to discuss at the university TV station. Anchoring is the most fun of them, though.

DJ seems to be the most common occupation here after student, to the best of my knowledge. There are two of us, assuming I count for being a former one.

will answer now:

I do all of that stuff. most of our talk is caustic banter about the music or our lives.

I don't mention internet stuff cause no one listening would care, and i would be judged accordingly.

frequency is 91.3 megahertz so very low and weak.

we mostly play indie and alternative rock like any other college radio station, but we do have specialty programming after 6PM EST, but my show is on fridays from 10AM-12PM, so i play the indie and alternative stuff.

station is 91.3 FM WTSR broadcasting from The College of New Jersey, School of Arts and Communication.

You can livestream the broadcast from wtsr.org.

Our format is a little different; from midnight till 6:00 P.M., KXRJ plays jazz on automation. From 6:00 P.M. to midnight, there are live DJs who create their own programming. There are hard-rock, metal, country, and talk shows.

Everybody loved my tags: "You're listening to KXRJ 91.9 FM, the voice of Arkansas Tech University. If you're closer to your computer than your radio, you can find us streaming live at kxrj.atu.edu 24/7. And now, KXRJ never has to leave your side. That's right, just download our iPhone or BlackBerry app and you can carry us around in your hip pocket all day long... which is kinda creepy, but we don't mind. We actually kinda like it!"

We also have the Emergency Alert System for Arkansas Nuclear One, which scares the crap out of people when you test it.

Hmmm... *strokes non-existent goatee*

-Mostly mess around on the internet.
-Watch YouTube
-Read (good) fanfiction (it's rare, but it's out there)
-Read science-related books
-watch anime (mostly online. On that note, saw first episode Gundam Unicorn. It was, indeed, quite awesome. Now if only the next episode released sometime before this fall....)
-Plot world domination
-Go for walks
-Have someone else drive the car instead (dispel the anti-fun)
-Game when possible
-Ignore the fact that I have no social life (more dispelling)
-Visit the local bookstore
-Talk to family on phone
-Rage at stuff that doesn't really bother me
-Draw/doodle
-Read manga, and anything else in general.

*looks around* Yeah, that's it.
