Re: Chat Thread 39: A Heartwarming Children's Movie
Hey! North Carolina is not that bad! Just everything between Boone and Wilmington! Raleigh isn't that bad a town to live in, House. At least he didn't try to send you to ECU. Greenville is like a Demilitarized Zone! I would say that it is easily more dangerous than Charlotte or Atlanta.

no, House was the one that could have gone to college there, not Sleet.

@Radio- I see what you did there. :3 We all know that ECU is the newest party school. Blah, I dislike Charlotte for that very reason. I was accepted into UNCC, but I am too wary of the environment.

Re: Chat Thread 39: A Heartwarming Children's Movie
As long as you stay out of south Charlotte you should be alright. That is the ghetto side of time. The downtown area, like around the Plaza-Midwood neighborhood, near the courthouse, is pretty safe area. We were walking around there at 1 in the morning and it was almost a street party there were some many people about and having fun. Every cafe, bar and restaurant was alive with people having a good time and showing no fear. But don't let that lull you. I was out with a group of friends (there was 6 of us all together). As long as you go with some friends and take the necessary precautions you should be fine. Oh! And be sure to check out The Penguin Drive-In. Its a great restaurant if you can beat the crowds. The hipsters discovered it and now it is overrun. I am going to be in Charlotte in March for Mad Monster Party. Want to come? That is a gross abuse of the trust and power given to you as a moderator, Brent.

@Radio- Charlotte was only my safety school. But I will definitely try that restaraunt the next time I am down there.
Sadly, I have to turn down that invitation. I really don't know you all that well and, well, I am a girl. Don't be offended, because I don't mean it in a bad way!

Anything to make me look like a fool. I'll let you have this. Ahem... As I was saying, not all of Charlotte is bad. I would not want to live there, but you can have fun there if you know where to look. I told you I was worried about sounding like an internet creeper. I proved myself right on that one.

That's probably the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me! Thanks! I understand. But, maybe you should go to the Mad Monster Party with your friends since there are no furry conventions in NC. I'm not sure if there will be any fursuiters there unless you count the werewolves.

MAYBE WE STILL COULD. EVEN THOUGH I DON'T REALLY WANT TO.I'm really not sure. We tried a Jimmy John's on campus once, though. That's slightly off-topic. Uh... well, he grew up there, kinda. Raleigh itself is a nice place, and the town my great aunt/uncle live in is nice too. It's just not a place for me.

Re: Chat Thread 39: A Heartwarming Children's Movie
Hey! Greenville may be a demilitarized town but ECU is an awesome college to go to. Sure armed muggings and robberies are quite prevalent but it can still be a pretty fun place "as long as you don't walk across the train tracks." Also it only costs about $7000 to go to school there for a semester which is a good price I'd say besides the fact you have to live in Greenville. Fun fact, apparently they have an estimated rate of 167 crimes per square mile of Greenville a year and a 1 in 154 out of 1000 chance of being involved in a violent crime, I am honestly surprised it's that low. My brother went to NCSU for his first two years of college and said it was pretty bad and it was like they wanted him to leave, so he left for UNC and liked it a bit better there. Raleigh isn't too bad it's just really mundane, though Capitol Blvd has some pretty hilarious moments.

Re: Chat Thread 39: A Heartwarming Children's Movie
"Besides the fact you have to live in Greenville" just sums it up perfectly. As long as you don't cross the Tar River bridge from the "college" side of town to the "crack" side of town, you are alright. My cousin actually went to ECU. She didn't last long because she came down with a case of "party-istis". That school really tests your self discipline.

Re: Chat Thread 39: A Heartwarming Children's Movie
See, I'd like to visit the USA but I don't know where I'd want to go. You can't know where the best places are that aren't just tourist attractions without some insider knowledge. Maybe a road trip that takes me everywhere. Yeah, how long could that take? I'd like to go somewhere there was a good con on, which as far as I know is just about any major city, and I'd love to meet up with some of you guys but it'd depend on how creepy you'd consider it... It's not like I want to stalk any of you, I'd just like to put a voice and a face to you all. I prefer talking to people in person to talking with them on the phone, but then I also prefer talking on forums to talking on the phone for some bizarre reason...

Re: Chat Thread 39: A Heartwarming Children's Movie
You don't even have to go that far to get to the crappier parts, just walk(it would be much smarter to drive though) like less than half a mile off campus and you're already in a place where you're likely to get mugged and most parts of "uptown" are pretty sketchy at night. Sure Greenville may be crap, but it can be pretty entertaining to see it all. Well, ECU can give you "party-istis" pretty easily because there are always parties going on and they are usually pretty good. We have a reputation for a reason and know how to live up to it. Self discipline is a concept that is not too well known about at ECU, just walk around town at night and you'll see.

Re: Chat Thread 39: A Heartwarming Children's Movie
One time I was walking with about four of my friends (we all went to larp at a park with about 50 other people) and we were carrying foam weapons. While we were walking, a random stranger came up to talk to us and we saw him pulling out a knife from his pocket and suddenly we ALL moved our weapons towards him (they won't cut but they hit hard enough to hurt) and he was terrified and ran away. Fail mugger.

Re: Chat Thread 39: A Heartwarming Children's Movie
@THF- There's a Jimmy John's on campus? I have never, ever seen it, unless you might be getting it confused with the Subway across the street from the northern part of campus? HI FOXSTAR. *hugs* @Sarnoff- If it doesn't work out for me at State, I'll transfer into Chapel Hill. I couldn't go to ECU even if I wanted to; they don't have my major! @Nyaliva- I like webcamming and voice calling. Texting and IM is normally my last method of communication. I like meaningful conversation, so I love long emails too. But my attention span is too short for IM or texting unless I really really the other person!

I never got the idea of going to a party school. MSU certainly has a pretty active night-life/party scene but it's also a pretty darn good school.

Party schools are awesome because there is always a good time somewhere. Also it's pretty fun to be able to party any day of the week so you don't get too stressed out with school work. That's unfortunate, ECU is a fun place, even if the town is really dumpy.

Re: Chat Thread 39: A Heartwarming Children's Movie
Not to sound arrogant but I'm really not. I'm not the smartest guy or the best student on campus but I'm good enough to hover somewhere around a 3.5 while enjoying an active social life. While that is enticing in the short term I'd rather go to the second biggest party school in the state and trade some of the fun I would have had at a "party school" for a chance to attend a better academic institution. Then again it's hard for me to really argue that I'm right given the fact that I got into a school famous for both.
