Well stop wondering. They are painful, annoying, high maintenance, and you can't eat a lot of food.

Also I'm going to play some hard core paintball soon

Just don't get shot in the face! It may be fun, but I heard it is horrifically painful.

And they didn't turn off the electricity at the breaker before you worked on it? Even at the switch? At least give you gloves rated for electrical work?

Doug, if those two wires had each touched a different hand, the current would have gone right through your heart. That is a very unsafe working condition. It's one thing if you want to do that at home, but if they force you to work like that, I suggest you report them. Live electricity is nothing you should be forced to work around.

We had run out of the wire caps we usually put on right at the beginning of the job that insulate the hot wires while we're working and snap together when we're done - otherwise it would have been safe. It was sort of my fault for not making sure the wire end was covered (the other wire nuts we had wouldn't stay on). :? We asked them to get us some more connectors right after that and we got them pretty quickly, so there shouldn't be any more problems with that. ;)

And they do have gloves - it's just I never had a problem with getting shocked so I stopped using them pretty soon after starting (they're hot and hinder dexterity a bit, which is important to have).

I still would have thought that would have turned off the electricity before you work on anything though.

I've taken a class on electrical work. While that makes me far from an expert, the power to the wires you're working on should really still be shut off. Personal safety aside, it's also possible to ruin a LOT of stuff if you create a short. Yes, the circuit breaker should trip before anything really bad happens, but to me that's like saying "yeah, I know my car's brakes are bad, but if they fail, I still have the emergency brake."

I digress now though. You seem confident in what you're doing and I'm not going to hound you over it.

Anyway, today I powerwashed a deck and then mowed a lawn 40 minutes away from my house. Sunday fun. I at least watched a movie after doing the lawn, so I did have some time to myself today anyway.

One of these: http://pwreviewking.com/wp-content/uplo ... c-6024.jpg

It takes the water from your outdoor hose and makes it spray out at about anywhere from 1,700 to 3,800 PSI depending on how powerful the one you bought is. Ours does it at 3,000 which is pretty average for a gas powered one.

It's for "washing" away stuff that's stuck on beyond a regular hose. You can see what a difference it makes here: here

They're so powerful that it can be easy to accidentally do more damage than good.

So it would be a bad idea to power wash a car window?

A car window should not need to be powerwashed. It's a smooth surface that can be easily cleaned with Windex and some paper towels. Powerwashers are usually used on large areas to remove stuff that you would otherwise need to scrub. Things like the side of a house, deck, outdoor patio/sidewalk, ect.

What am I doing today?
Well I woke up at 5:30 AM. That's 7.5 hours of sleep, not bad.
Sunlight is streaming in through my window and I'm listening to folk metal and various kinds of rock so I wish there would be rain and not all this sun. Kills the mood.
Throats getting better.
Today has started out nicely.

I had a test in an English class to use these words I had to learn in sentences. Wrote an entire story about Vikings using the words. Teacher loved it.

So today is our homecoming game and I'm unable to even today. Our class shirts are so terrible, all of the mums are jingly and annoying, our football team always loses, and the parade is not fun. The only thing I like is getting out of school early. I just have no spirit today.

If you have a car then leave. I did that during assemblies and stuff in high school. Gathered my friends real quick then just left since if was basically the end of the day.

But no, I hated those things. Can't blame you for leaving (or at least, wanting to).

Well, when you're 900 miles away and don't see each other very often, it can be a nice little token of appreciation to say "I'm thinking of you, and our childhoods spent together weren't for nothing."

Judging by the phone call I had after it arrived, I'd say it hit the mark, which made her happy. Which makes me happy. :)

Going for that job interview in about an hour. Nervous as heck, and I stuttered a bit while calling the PIC for an interview. Wish me luck!

I just bought tickets for my next conference. Now I am typing on the computer when I should be typing on my thesis. I think I'm going to take a word break and go fix one of my seismometers and get it running. Then I can go back to typing on my thesis.
