Scared?

Post by Retinq »

Do you have any phobias?

Yay, my first topic, but i'm not gonna be the first one to brag about my fears! :P
So what are you afraid of?
Actually, its RETINQ. See, Retinq. Q.

Posting. I don't know why, but half of the time I'm terrified before I hit the post button. I've probably canceled 10-20 posts on this website in the short time I've been here.

Flying insects, deep water.

Oooh how I hate deep water. I get a feeling something will come and eat me every time I'm in deep water. |3

The fear of sound and distances?

I used to be afraid of water when I was a kit. Not so much anymore, but as a result I'm still an awful swimmer to this day.

I think calling it a phobia would be an exaggeration, but I'm rather wary of heights, depths, and cavernous spaces, which is no small part of why I don't like New York City

Parasites!

Having to rely on someone, needing help.

I'm afraid of the end of the world. Not that i'd ever see it, but I'm afraid that humanity or a natural disaster will destroy everything good left in this world. The fact that it's inevitable doesn't make it any better.

Heh. So I'm not the only one!

Let's see. I used to be afraid of calling people on the phone, but I've gotten over that. Deep water kind of freaks me out. I'm not afraid of heights, but I am afraid of falling.

I have a paralyzing fear of spiders and I get worse with heights the farther up I go (the same when I'm in an elevator).
I used to be pretty bad with deep water, but we stay at my Uncle (I think)'s lake house every summer, so I've gotten better with that. (Though at night... >_> )

I have a serious phobia of centipedes... I HATE those things. I had one of them fall on me while I was laying in bed watching TV, and I freaked out.

Oh, and I am really scared of things that live in deep water. (Watching River Monsters on Animal Planet makes my fear worse.)

Thunder. Thunder scares me, to the point where it irritates me when people actually say they find it RELAXING. I can't fathom such a thing. (Actually any sudden, loud noise scares me.)

Also a LOT of creepy-crawlies.... >>>.<<< Especially flying or jumping kinds. And dipterans (flies, mosquitos, etc.) ESPECIALLY gross me out. >>>>>.<<<<<

Interacting with people makes me nervous too, if I don't know them.

I have something of a fear of creepy-crawly things. Larger spiders (don't really care about the tiny ones), centipedes, etc. Having been bitten by a spider before kinda has that effect.

Also I kinda freak out in deep water. Like, the kind where you're really far from shore and there's not even a hint of the bottom anywhere. Luckily you pretty much have to swim miles out to reach any spot like that in Hawaii.

And yes, bit of a social phobia with people I don't know well. Even though I generally do fine if I just plunge into it.
You've shattered my mind and rearranged the pieces into something beautiful.

Wow, it's interesting that so many people are creeped out by deep water. I guess I can admit that I am too  . Ironic because I'm a diver . I don't mind swimming around ON TOP of deep water, it's just when I'm diving DOWN into it. The dropoff in Lake Tahoe creeps me out the most.

Also, it's not much of a phobia, but I HATE it when radios start making weird noises. Every now and then the radio at home gets left on the AM band, and late at night it makes those stereotypical sci-fi noises. CREEPY!

This might sound a little stupid but the thing I'm most afraid of is being criticized. I always try my best to keep things as perfect as I can because of it.

Actually, that is quite a valid fear. I get sad if anyone says any bad criticism of things I do. It is not a phobia, but I sure do not like it, I break under pressure if people yell at my mistakes as well.

What am I afraid of?

The first thing that comes to mind is vomiting. I hate, hate, hate throwing up. >_< I'm tempted to say I'd rather deal with a flu for a week than vomit just once--and whenever I do start to vomit I fight as hard as I can to keep it down. I know I shouldn't, I know it never works, and I know it only makes things much worse in the end, but I absolutely hate throwing up! >_< :/

That, and I'd say I'm afraid of old age and of its effects on my mind (and body, I suppose, but especially on my mind). :(

I've got at least one other strong fear, but I think I'll keep it to myself for the moment. ^_^;;

I guess I might be a little afraid of growing old alone too but, meh, I dunno. Sometimes the thought bothers me, and sometimes it doesn't. *shrugs*

...hmm. My strongest fears have something to do with me not being in control of my thoughts or actions, in one way or another. I wonder if that's significant somehow. :\
