I just picked up a hard cover collection of HP Lovecraft stories. I am re-reading some but reading others for the first time. So far I have read "The Rats in the Walls", "At the Mountains of Madness" and "The Lurking Fear". Next I think I will read either "Hebert West - Re-Animator" or "Pickman's Model".

I need to get motivated to read the final book in Eragon. So far, I've just been putting it off.

I just started reading "The Red Pyramid" by Rick Riordan. I am a fanatic for anything about Ancient Egypt so I picked this up for some light reading. I ended up reading the first 65 pages before bed. Its really good. This is kind of bad because I just found out that there are two more books in the series. So much to read! I have to know how it ends.

I am also expecting a history book called "The Rise and Fall of Ancient Egypt" by Toby Wilkinson to arrive in the mail soon.

Finished The Stranger by Camus and Hell's angels by Hunter S. Thompson over break. Thompson's take on the Hell's angels is really interesting I'd highly reccomend that. The stranger is cool if you're into moody european fiction.
And on that note I'm finally ready to re-read the Trial by Kafka. I'm really excited, I haven't read any Kafka since the summer before I started college.

I finished "Red Pyramid" and it was not as good as I had hoped. I don't think I will read the other books in the series.

Darn! I've actually never gotten my hands on a copy of the last in the Inheritance cycle. Dang library fees, Terry Pratchett stuff too, I found some of his books and enjoyed the humor immensely though it might have been hard to follow at times. Though he's gone Ankh Morpork still lives on in my head and a great many others.

Read the Game of Thrones series (A Song of Ice and Fire). Could you imagine a world like that set in a HP style universe.

I know, but if the animals were like those in the HP universe, would the outcomes be different. (Man, I think that would be a fun HPU RP.)

No, I did mean HPU, that way the book is not ripped off to badly. Plus it would be interesting if the animals in the book were like those in the HP universe. If I got more people interested I would get brave enough to try and start one.

Oh. Yes. If you want to avoid confusiond and mf, avoid Firestar's lineage. He's Scourge's half-brother, Tigerstar's full brother, and Pinestar's son.

Oh, fair warning, in case you don't already know, some of the death scenes can be a bit overly-descriptive. Not too much, but...

I have a lot of down time at work so I've been reading a lot. I'm reading a pulp novel called reprisal by Arthur Gordon that I found in the basement of my local book store. THey've got a whole section of them and I think I need to hit it up more regularly. I really got into The Postman Always Rings Twice two semesters ago when I read it for a film noir class and it's cool to see the literary equivalent of some of the cinematic movements I love.
I tend to work on 1-2 non fiction books in addition to whatever novel I'm on. I finally passed the 500 page mark in Being and Nothingness I really want to get through that and Beyond good and Evil this summer in addition to my fiction reading. If I have time I have a borrowed copy of The Art of War I'd like to get back to my friend when I return to school.

I finally finished Ulysses. Well that was an undertaking! I enjoyed it (in spite of the tedium), but I'm just glad to have accomplished it. And to be free to read something else. I'm thinking maybe continuing Redwall (having only read three books).

I started jack London's The Iron Heel recently and it's been really cool. I'm used to his adventure stories (white fang, call of the wild) but this one is much more political, it's pretty much just a pro socialist novel in Jack London's style. It's right up my alley stylistically and politically. I'm intrigued to see where it goes

I did it. I read Herman Melville's "Moby-Dick". It was a very dense book to read but it was worth it. Just don't ask me to make quotations from it.

Now I have started two books, rather foolishly, H.G. Wells' "War of the Worlds" which is a very good book! It was so ahead of its time and at time pretty horrific. I can see how it influenced the entire genre of science fiction. And, the other book is about the First World War, written by John Keegan.

I've actually always wanted to read Moby Dick as I thought it was one of the best classic books around. However I procrastinate way too much. If I can't get through the last Eragon book, I am NEVER gonna get through a book that is even THICKER. x_x

Give it a chance. Its not the length of the book its his style of writing and use of dialogue. It uses some terms and phrases that are, for us these days, anachronistic and strange. The book is relatively short and each chapter is only a few pages long.

I decided to replenish my "books to read" supply at Barnes and Noble the other day! I go the next two Redwall books I haven't read (Mariel of Redwall and Salamandastron), but also impulse-bought a book called The Snow Child that was nominated for a Pulitzer. It's pretty good so far! It's kinda like a darker, more solemn Frost the Snowman. :P

I'm on to king Lear right now and I'm still working on the complete short stories of Hemingway.

I just started "John Dies At The End" by David Wong and it is amazing! Few books have made me laugh out loud while reading them. The others being "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" by Hunter S. Thompson and "All I Need To Know About Film Making I Learned From The Toxic Avenger" by Lloyd Kaufman. Its a comedic horror-fantasy about a drug that allows its users to see into other dimensions. Its not a hallucination when it can bite you.

I found out that there is a sequel called "This Book Is Full of Spiders: Seriously, Dude, Don't Touch It" and I have already ordered a copy because I want to start it as soon as I am finished with the first.
