The world record for the most jokes (which get a laugh) told in 1 hour is held by the Australian comedian Anthony "Lehmo" Lehmann who managed to tell 549 jokes in 1 hour.

According to this guy a perfect mirror would be white, but, since there are no perfect mirrors, most mirrors are actually green.

Human sneezes can travel up to 8 metres but since cats make much larger droplets, their sneezes can only travel 1-2 metres.

Geometric formulas like:

They actually come from Calculus (Triple Integrals and crazy things like that).
Anyway, I thought that this was awesome.

It would be more awesome if we could see the image so we knew what you're talking about. ;)

If you watch closely the "Twilight Bark" scene in Disney's animated movie 101 Dalmatians you'll see the dogs from Disney's earlier movie Lady and the Tramp. You can also see them in the "Why Should I Worry?" scene in Oliver and Company.

Here's a bit of useful information in this thread for once:

If you can't see an image, try right-clicking the little thingy and hit "Copy image URL," then paste into browser bar and you'll see it. (And you'll see it on this forum after that too)

You can also "Quote" the post to get the image URL if you would like.

Some are just single integrals, though circles actually involve much more complicated calculus because it's the only way to integrate a semicircle explicitly.

Also: the surface area of a sphere is the derivative of the volume. The circumference of a circle is the derivative of the area.

In my high school math final exam, we had to calculate the volume of two donuts intersecting at right angles. That was tough for high school math, only two people got it (no, I wasn't one of them).

That's multivariable calculus I'm pretty sure. Why do they expect that in high school?

"Advance Australia Fair" was adopted as Australia's national anthem in 1984 but it was actually written in 1878. Australia still uses "God Save The Queen" as the Royal Anthem - that is, it is sung when the Queen is present instead of the national anthem.

High School in Australia went through integral calculus if you take 4 units of math (probably still does), and it was a bonus question.

I remember that. It was semi-officially "Waltzing Matilda" for about two weeks, and in my heart it still is. Advance Australia Fair is weaksauce.

We did integral calculus when I did high school maths 5 years ago, but I never saw that donut question. I think that would have been the next level up from what I did.

Personally I've always loved "Advance Australia Fair, particularly this version performed in the Sydney 2000 Olympics. I think the only reason people think it's boring is because they unfortunately have not bothered to learn the words. I don't think it's taught in schools now in the same way it used to be. I remember in primary school we even had posters with the lyrics.

I love "Waltzing Matilda" too. It's definitely our unofficial anthem. It was a runner up (along with "Song of Australia") in the competition they held in the 70's to find a new, more Australian anthem to replace "God Save The Queen".

The four backing musicians who performed the original recording of "Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport" with Rolf Harris, despite being offered 10% of the royalties, only took 28 pounds each for the job because they thought it would be a flop. It reached #1 on the Australian charts, #3 in the US and has remained hugely popular ever since.

Also, according to this cats may actually be allergic to people! Or at least to people habits.

Although the Coca Cola logo is copyrighted, the script/font/typeface it's written in is not. It's called Spencerian Script and is a form of cursive writing which used to be taught in schools as the standard way of writing cursive.

The Hindenburg briefly operated as an aerial aircraft carrier: It had a small airplane that would be used for mail delivery and other tasks. The plane damaged its landing trapeze and so the system was removed just before the final flight of the Hindenburg.

Amicable numbers are a pair of numbers which can be expressed as the sum of all the divisors of the other number, excluding the number itself. For example, the divisors of 220 are

1 + 2 + 4 + 5 + 10 + 11 + 20 + 22 + 44 + 55 + 110
which when added together = 284

The divisors of 284 are

1 + 2 + 4 +71 + 142
which when added together = 220.

Voila, an amicabl pair.

Betrothed pairs are numbers where one number is the sum of the divisors of the other + 1.
