I can agree, I love Epiphone. But Yamaha is also really, reaally good for their price. And I love my Digitech, I really only use it for the digital delay, and the wah, but it's still dope. :>

And I don't know, I got it on clearence. I traded in my Lunchbox Amp and $100. In fact, Dessension was there the night I broke my Lunchbox Amp on LiveStream, lol. Ask him how much I was cussing, if he remembers.

Yeah, I really like Yamaha acoustics. I'd probably get one if I had the space for another guitar. I'll have to look around some so I can find me a good deal on an amp....

LOL! Should I ask Dissension about how much you cussed on LiveStream?!

That was really good, dude! :D You did great on the solo's!

That little Marshall puts out the sound! Everything sounded pretty good. What you may want to do for your next cover is to turn either your amp down or the track up so your guitar doesn't over-power the song you're playing to, but other than that it was spot on.

I'd like to see more covers Alex! That was a great cover of that song!

Thanks a lot, Fox :D I really appreciate your feedback. I somehow managed to make the pedal work, so my sound is better now, I think...

And yeah, I noticed kinda too late that the guitar is louder than the backing track xD But it doesn't matter much, since in a guitar cover the guitar should be louder, IMO....

I will probably post another cover tonight. But the important question is if you have any videos?

It sounded like you were using a pedal in that vid, and it sounded good. Keep it up! :D

And do I have any videos? Well, I have made videos of me playing guitar, but I haven't posted anything on the internet. I actually don't have anything anywhere outside of Housepets! forums.

Are you learning acoustic first?

I've been teaching myself on an electric guitar 'cause that's all I have. That's probably less than ideal.

Yeah, learning on an acoustic is probably the better way. For one thing, an acoustic is more difficult to play than an electric(because of string thickness) and if you play frequently, you get callises on your fingertips which helps you play. Acoustics are good to learn the basics on because they're simpler too.(you don't have to fool with a bunch of equipment.)
If you start out on an acoustic, playing an electric becomes a whole lot easier.

Actually, IMO it's best to start on a classical guitar. They have bigger necks, thicker strings, and really help build finger power! Also, it is a bit easier to play the beginner chords, because the place between the strings is bigger - makes it harder to accidentally press the wrong string, or to mute the above/below string. Although generally it's harder to start on a classical than a normal acoustic, you won't regret it later.

It's like one of those"If you can play this, you can play anything" deals. Once you've mastered playing on a more difficult instrument, playing other things is much easier.

What brand are they?

I don't think they have a brand, they're cheapo guitars.

Well if you think about it everything has a brand. Some company had to make it.

Unless it's hand-made by an individual. In which case it's probably not a cheapo guitar.

Hmm, apparently "cheapo" is an actual word.

Yep, I've used it plenty of times before... :D

What you may want to do, Yeho, is try to track the guitar down on the internet and find out who makes it. There are lots of guitars out there that are truly hand-made but don't have any manufacturer label on it. Do your guitars have serial numbers?

Hey guys and gals *bricked xS*, I've been thinking of learning how to play the guitar for a long time now, and I think I might just have enough money to buy one acoustic guitar.

But then, are there anything important that I will need to buy along with the guitar, like accessories and such?

And any recommendations on brands suitable for a beginner with not a lot of cash?

In my personal opinion, all you need is the guitar, some strings and MAYBE (very optional, there is absolutley no need and it won't exactly make it easier) a pick. The brand of the guitar doesn't matter, you can get a cheapo guitar and it won't necesarily sound worse than an expensive guitar from different brands. Just get the guitar that suits you since there are different sized guitars, get one that makes you feel comfortable. You don't need any accesories.

Yeah, just get a guitar and a pick now. If you're buying a used guitar, get new strings, too. The one that come with the used guitar (if they come at all) usually break quick.

So I got a new amp:
Image

But it turns out that it's not the amp that was the problem (The old, small one was good), but the guitar itself. It causes the buzzing noises.... Even after I had it fixed! Now I need a new guitar....

(But still, this amp is so great, the sound is better than with the old one!)

Hey Thrasher, I haven't seen that video before. Gonna be honest, didn't really like what you played, but your playing is awesome. You're a great guitarist.

Anyway, I'd like to share another cover with you guys. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sO4ZorZ8Xj0 It's audio only, since it's better quality when recorded via Audacity and fusing with backing track, with noise removal. Any feedback is welcome :)

That actually surprises me. It's not a big deal if a guitarist doesn't have a band, but bassists are much rarer, so I'd think it's easier for you to find one.

I'm an everything without a band (not counting my college jazz band). I just don't have enough musical friends.

Yeah, the problem is definitely not just one factor - when I get serious about forming a band, it dissolves due to either lack of commitment, lack of a practice space or lack of talent. Don't get me wrong, I've been part of a few bands in my day. But never anything concrete where we start writing our own stuff - always just a cramped room full of singers with egos or musicians with no grasp on their instrument.

I'm absolutely certain that once college/uni starts, and I can drive my own gear around, I'll get into a good solid band no problem. But for now, it's a life of solitude and solo jams for moi :|

Hey guys, I have a question. I've been playing for little less than 2 years now. That's not a long time, and I could use some help right now. Is any of you good with learning a song by ear, without tabs. There's a song that I'd really love to learn, but I can't find any tabs on the internet, just chords. That's usually enough for me, since I can improvise the solo, but for this particular song, I really need to know how to play one short part of the solo, so if any of you is good with learning by ear, could you give me a hand?

3:53-3:57

The chords are Bm and G through the entire second. I've tried to learn it myself, but I just can't seem to find the exact 4 notes. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advice :D

Well, I've learned most of the songs I play off of YouTube. But the best advice I can give you on learning stuff by ear is to just keep playing the part of a song you want to learn over and over again, and try to find the notes/chords that match what's being played.
