Go Ireland, Greece, Jamaica, and Germany! (I've got some Irish and German in me)
Cycling is tomorrow, I'm going to see that (if it's on t.v., hopefully it is).
Is there a schedule somewhere? I'd like to know what else is when.

I'm primarily cheering for my home country, but we can also throw England, Australia, Norway, Spain, Mexico and Japan in there for countries I wouldn't mind doing well.

Good luck to Norway and Mexico, though. They don't usually win much.

Nah, it really doesn't.
It's pretty much expected that the major countries (US, China, Russia) will win the Olympics anyway.
I don't know if that pattern will break soon.

Well, they have very big populations so it's easier for them to find talents. However, Olympics are still a competition and no matter from where you are, you play to be the best from all.

But what I get exited about mostly is volleyball! I just can't wait for matches to begin. And it appears that Poland has the greatest chances to get gold medals =D

Very much so. Haven't missed an MSU home game yet this year.

Hmm, not many. Oh well...
So how is your team(s) doing? I haven't been paying much attention to college football this year, but I might go to a game next month.
Anyway, I've already mentioned elsewhere that I live in Washington, and I'm loving the Seahawks defense so far this year. I also hope the Bengals can take their division.
Oh, and hockey season should be starting in the next month or so, hopefully.

Lockouts are detrimental to all parties involved - the players, the coaches, the team staff, the owners and most importantly the FANS. I know how shocked I was at the NBA lockout last year, so I hope the NHL situation gets sorted out and soon.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like it will. Oh well, guess I'll just have to get my sports fix from the Pistons this year......

Yeah, I just saw the score. The Giants are up 7-0. Though they still have quite a bit of time to come back. I mean, it's only the top of the fifth.

Completely ridiculous. We gave up a 3-1 lead. All we needed was or win.

Woo! Giants lead series 3-0!

Some bad news: I just read that the NHL has canceled games through November. Dang :(

I'll just pencil in the Cardinals for second place, since we lost to the Giants.

Yeah, I'd like to see Seattle again, but at least OKC is old Seattle team. But I read few times, that NBA could be again in Seattle ;)

Yeah they've been discussing it since about June or July. They don't know whether to put the team over in the old arena, build a new one in SoDo, or across the lake in Bellevue.
The good thing is that the city stills owns the name "SuperSonics". (I actually have been cheering for/following OKC since the move)

Well, OKC at this moment are continuators of Sonics tradition and history. But the best thing was that they changed the name, maybe one day we'll see both - OKC and Seattle in the league ;)

Definitely room for both OKC and Seattle in the league - both cities have excellent fan support and passion for the game. No offense to Kings fans, but I really thought they were going to be the franchise that switched back to Seattle. The team just doesn't seem to be making any real noise in the league regardless off all the talent they've got on the roster (Evans, Cousins, now Robinson, Thompson, Thornton). Truth be told it is young talent and may need time to emerge (just like the Thunder), but if they don't adjust I wouldn't be surprised to see more rumors of movement.

From time to time there are rumors about Kings. It's always about Cousins and his bad behavior, but it's always something :P

Soon after I posted this, Cousins put up a triple-double against the Celtics - weeeell, maybe the Kings could try a little longer ;)

Glad the lockout is nearly over finally, looks like it could be a long 10 years until the threat of another

I'd really enjoy a Knicks-Thunder Final, but New York really need to prove they're made of sterner stuff (no pun intended David Stern). As we all know the Playoffs are unpredictable and have ejected top seeds many times before, in recent memory the Spurs(1)-Grizzlies(8) series of 2010-11.

Would have loved to have seen Nash compete for a ring but that looks highly suspect now :(
