Because it's in the top 50 on TWC, and is probably about to win another UMA. :P

About UMA, I think Savstate's gonna win.

Savestate started with a boom, thanks to clever advertising. It appeals to gamers; and many of those happen to be comic readers.
It's not a bad strip, but I feel it lacks potential. Sure, the comic can toy with tropes and reference games, but ultimately it's missing the depth of Housepets. Could be a good thing though. It's more lighthearted than lighthearted.

I don't mind it winning best comic. I don't even follow it but I think Weeks (the artist) deserves it. But I'll feel so bad about HP losing its win streak.
So I voted for HP. Go Rick! :D

I can't believe that Slightly Damned has been going on as long as it has been though. Housepets! is newer and is much farther in my opinion.

well Chu makes a full page at about once or twice a week.
Rick makes a 3-4 panel strip 3 times a week, occasionally making a double or triple strip.
they're different styles of comic.

Yeah that is true. I know that Chu is very busy, though I still selfishly wish we could get more comics then just 1 a week.

Compare it to stuff that updates super fast, like Precocious, Freefall, or Homestuck.

After witnessing your April Fools posts, I can see that.

Precocious isn't bad. I just think it could be more... dynamic? I don't know. It just feels a little unfinished at times.

Also, I started reading a new comic series called Tooth and Claw (or Autumnlands; there's a bit of a name dispute). It's pretty cool! It involves furries in a dark magical world. It's got some bad language and stuff though.

I knew I had heard the name once before here on the forums!

The Autumnlands: Tooth & Claw is a fantasy comic by Kurt Busiek, creator of well-known superhero series Astro City and lotsa other comics. The foremost civilization of their world, living in seventeen floating cities, have a problem. The source of their wealth, magic, is running out. One wizard warthog lady comes up with a solution, that is to transport the legendary hero who brought magic to the world into the present day. Everything goes swimmingly and they all lived happily ever after. The end.

Hah, no, they sap all magical power from the city and it crashes. And then the bison buffalo Mongols they exploited for farm produce for centuries take the opportunity to pay them back. And the hero turns out to be a hoo-man. DUMDUMDUUUM

It's a really gorgeous comic in every respect. The varied anthropomorphic species are detailed and expressively drawn, the fantasy world is expansively constructed and the plot is full of scheming and intrigue. Strongly recommended.

Definitely. And I don't even know where it's gonna go, 'cause it's brand new. So it's really open-ended!

This month's issue marks the end of the first chapter/story arc, so we will have at least a glimpse into what direction it will go. Learoyd and Dunstan may begin their journey to resore magic and the remaining 16 cities will declare holy war on the blasphemous human.

Post Which other Webcomics are you reading?
Thought i might start a Thread about other Webcomics you are reading.
Trying to keep the list SFW keeping in mind that we have a few people under 18 in the Forums and till Diss or one of the mods grants me approval to post NSFW Links too ^^

Well im gonna start: (Links are always linking to the first page while the Adress is directly for the Page)

http://dilbert.com (Should be mostly PG contains some violence and strong words though) - One comic you need to know if you work in a large company and have no clue what you and/or the others are doing all day ^^ And one of the longest running comics i know. First Comic was released on 16th of April 1989.
http://www.sandraandwoo.com (PG-13) - A comic about a Girl and her Racoon who can speak.
http://strawberrydeathcake.com (Two different chapters if you wanna call em that way) Chapter 1 (Original Story) Chapter 2 (Prologue) (PG-13 or above dont know about that ^^" Contains violence and other stuff) - One of the first comics i read and i really like. Its about Monster hunting and features a Moose who likes Waffles.
http://www.roomiescomic.net (PG at least i guess)- Another nice little comic. Relatively new but updated weekly now.
http://furryexperience.smackjeeves.com (Should be PG too)- This comic is about 3 Girls which are in the same Room on the Campus now. Always remembered me from the setup a bit of the next one.
http://www.tigerknight.com/cc/ (might be PG-13 or above) - College Catastrophe by Jan. Awesome comic i really enjoyed reading. Especially with the prequel
http://www.tigerknight.com/99/ (might be PG-13 or above) - 9 to 9 the Prequel of College Catastrophe. Awesome as well.
http://www.girlswithslingshots.com (PG-13 or above)- One of the first comics i started with. It is now being recolored while the Artist (Danielle) ended GWS but maybe she will continue with it later.
http://www.allnewissuescomic.com (Should be PG or slightly above) - A comic i was made aware of thanks to Danielle of GWS. Unfortunately it was put on a sabbatical in April 2014.

And last but not least without it i wouldnt be here thanks to Kitsunes comment there ^^

http://www.savestatecomic.com (PG)

Edit:

And because Huk will be mad at me otherwise

http://simonandfreddy.com (PG) - A webcomic by our fellow member of the Forum Hukley about Simon and his friend a Fox named Freddy.

Since i dont know anything about PG stuff it might be that some ratings are posted are not correct. Please correct me if im wrong.

NSFW links aren't going to happen. Ever. We allow a little violence or strong language if you provide a warning with your link, but anything that's called NSFW is going to be way beyond our rating.

Hmmm. I have more of a 'Top 10' for Webcomics

10 Twokinds Fantasy adventure with one guy, his Tiger girlfriend and their friends. Who know that the guy getting his memories back would be VERY bad...

9. Uberquest. Not going to link to it as there is the occasional bad language and NSFW potential.

8 Carry On A comic about Hyenas.

7 Endtown Every list needs high drama and, boy, is Endtown high drama amongst the action as people struggle to survive after an atomic war and a mutagenic crisis. Still laughs to be had. At times.

6 Doc Rat Sometimes sweet, sometimes funny, sometimes Drama. Sometimes all three

5 Precocious. Do NOT trust these Children!

4 Kevin & Kell The adventures of a Rabbit and a Wolf who've gotten married and their families.

3 Freefall The very rarely legal adventures of a Squid called Sam and a Wolf called Florence.

2 Housepets! (I don't think I need to link to it, do I?) It would have been number 1 but it's just out gagged IMHO by...

.

.

.

1 The Whiteboard An all sorts of insane comic that's mostly about paintball. The strip I selected is a good jump on point for the plot that's still going on and features cameos from strips like Precocious, Commander Kitty, Red Vs Black, Housepets!, Freefall, Anthronauts and so on.

Post Re: Favorite Webcomic/Comic Series/Graphic novel
The first issue of the "Invader Zim" comic came out this month. Unfortunately I have neither the funds to order it, I am moving soon so it can't come to my mailing address anyway, and there are no shops around that carry comics anymore.

Hopefully supplies will hold on My Comic Shop until I get settled and have the sufficient funds to start ordering comics again.

the zombie/Second World War comic anthology "FUBAR" has started a spin-off miniseries called "Mother Russia", an expansion of a story from their first graphic novel. Its about a Russian sniper and a baby she rescued surviving in the zombie-overrun ruins of Stalingrad.

I have been getting behind on many web comics that I read. So far "Zoophobia" and "Housepets" are the only comics that I keep up with. I can't praise "Zoophobia" enough. It just finished an arc and is about to begin another.

The 15th of this month will see the first issue of "Godzilla in Hell". I am very excited for it. It is from the same creative team that did "Godzilla: Half-Century War". The Godzilla series "Rulers of Earth" is also coming to an end. It had a good run and used a lot of Toho monsters that had never appeared in Western comics before.

Post Re: Favorite Webcomic/Comic Series/Graphic novel
Now that we're two issues into the second story arc of Kurt Busiek's new series from Image Comics, The Autumnlands: Tooth & Claw, I'm gonna look back on my predictions from the first arc.

So far, holy war failed to materialize. Dusty mentioned the animal-people waged war around the question to which species the Great Champion belonged. Since he turned out to be a walking heresy, I thought all hell would break loose once the survivors of Keneil returned to civilization. Yet the Number One Boss Mage Eagle-Man was pretty chill in his brief appearance, in contrast to his outburst when he first learned of Lady Gharta's plan to bring back the Champion. Maybe that comes in the next issues, or whatever problem he hinted at that emerged in the meantime is a far bigger deal than Gharta's transgression or the Champion's identity.

But the biggest twist have to be the weird scifi humans who are active in this world. The strange lady Learoyd met implied they have some sort of connection to the military force he had been part of in another time and place.

It's a very intriguing series and I look forward how the story will develop.

Busiek is rapidly becoming another of my fave writers. Currently I'm reading an older comic book of his, Shockrockets. It's a deconstructive take on the "kid hero joins elite fighting force" premise. In their world, the war against the alien invaders is already over and humanity won, but only barely. Much has been destroyed and the world is busy rebuilding, but since that by definition means civilization is something yet to be reclaimed life is pretty crummy for most people. One of them is Alejandro Cruz, a Hispanic teen from LA, whose future prospects are confined to a dead-end job shoveling algae at the local plastic factory (they make dishware out of biopolymers; it's nice touches like this, integrating real-life speculative technology, that make this comic something special for me).

After he repairs an old hoverbike he drives out to a battle near him between the Shockrockets - Earth's premier combat squadron in the war against the aliens and now a global emergency response/troubleshooting/peacekeeping force that flies hybrid aircraft incorporating alien tech - and a rogue general who once was one of Earth's best military commanders in the war and in the aftermath developed ambitions to rule the joint. (As is said, darker and grittier take.)

One of the pilots dies and Cruz decides to fly his machine and help out in the battle. He subsequently completes a crucial task that turns the tide in favor of the Shockrockets and following the RTB he's inducted into the ranks of the outfit. Well, he must be: the alien brain/computer interface controlling his craft has permanently bonded to his mind, something that can only be removed if he's killed.

Can Junior Pilot Cruz live up to the Shockrockets' stringent performance standards, endure the burden of protecting the whole globe and navigate the vagaries of the media circus and Shockrocket internal politics? If you want to know you have to track down the comic for yourselves. :3

Recently I've started reading some new webcomics, and I've really been enjoying them. Here they are.

Guardia: Tales of Halgeis(PG), a fantasy furry comic about a young girl following her brother's footsteps to be a "guardian". http://www.ssp-comics.com/comics/guardia/

Cloudscratcher(PG), think of it as a cross between Solatorobo and 80s/90s anthro cartoons. http://www.cloudscratcher.com

Best Day Evr(the comic self-identifies as PG, but it's more of PG-13, because there's one character that cusses occasional), a fun slice of life comic about some anthro teenagers. http://www.bestdayevr.com

Cucumber Quest(PG), a very humorous and happy comic that's a parody of JRPGs with bunnies. Cute bunnies. http://www.cucumber.gigidigi.com

cucumber quest is by an artist who used to go by the name hiimdaisy, if anyones familiar with those video game parody comics they did. she also helped with undertale

I haven't read it, but I have it in my list of comics I want to read at some point.

Took a look back through this thread about a week ago to find something new to read, and I found "Zoophobia".
I'm really enjoying it.

Oh I forgot to mention two of the motion comics from NARR8; Subject 9 and Prodigal Angel. (you can watch them on youtube and pause to read the text)
I really liked these two comics and they are both rather short and finished.
Subject 9 is like a superpower comic and Prodigal Angel is....kind-of superpower and kind of supernatural mystery comic.
