Alright, I have got to play this game and see how scary it really is. Because it doesn't seem that scary to me.
Unless you have to pay to play it. I can't afford to spend money on something just to see what it is really like.

This lets you download the game for gratis. It's the official site so no online tomfoolery here (by which I mean piracy)

Well, I've played it a little bit. Got one sheet, haven't seen slenderman yet. The only thing is how slow you move. Am I just an idiot and am missing some way that you can run?

Guys, remember one-word and single-image responses are not allowed.

It is Shift, but I changes it to the Space Bar because I run in increments so my character doesn't get to tired when I actually need to, and in doing this, I keep getting the "Sticky Keys" message LuLz

Yeah, I kept getting that too. I didn't realize there was an option to change what buttons did what for the game though...

That option is only available on the slash screen when you first start the game. Instead of choosing your graphics preference and starting the game right after that, choose the tab that reads "Input." This shows you what keys do what things. You double-click on the action's default key to reset it to what you want.

This option defiantly made the game more ergonomically satisfying for me.

Hey everyone, check it out! This Christian minister, trained exorcist, and freelance journalist as written a book about the Slender Man phenomenon and if it's possible the Slender Man has become reality.

Huh. I wouldn't expect that coming from a Christian Minister, cuz one wouldn't think that stories from the internet and Christian beliefs would ever mix on a factual level.

That seems kinda silly to suggest the Slender Man could be real.

Also, let's be careful to not get to religious discussion here.

Sorry. I only mentioned it because they seemed to feature it prominently in the author's description on Amazon.

Multiplayer Slender? Sounds a bit odd but I could roll with that. Would be interesting is when you play with your friends and have microphones, when Slendy takes one of you they just cut off on the ingame chat with one of those scary glitch sounds.

I no longer find Slender scary, I was watching my friend play. He saw Slenderman and screamed "OH NO NOODLE THE DOOLE. I CHALLANGE YOU" span around several times (apprentley this was him "digivolving") and ran at Slenderman screaming. He's less scary when you run at him XD

an horror movie about the slender man would be interesting. And I've only seen videos of the game. I hate playingjump scare movies and the comments fo the guy who is playing usually take some of the horro of it, making it bearable for me.

Hmm, how would you all want a nicely-budgeted, theatrical Slender Man movie be done? Found footage, or a more traditional movie format? Who should produce and direct it? What kind of soundtrack or musical score? All fun questions!

I would want a normal movie, directed by Guillermo del Toro (the guy behind Pan's Labyrinth and Don't Be Afraid of the Dark), and a score by Marco Beltrami, who did the score for the excellent The Woman in Black. Here's an example from that score to show what I mean.

I doubt a Slender Man movie needs much budget. Just look at Marble Hornets.

I would caution against use of a soundtrack.

Very true. Of course, traditionally, horror movies don't have nearly the same budget as... well, everything else in Hollywood. For instance, the original Halloween had a budget of $320,000. Something like that, maybe a bit more to account for inflation, and we could have a really great movie.

Also, Diss, I only meant a soundtrack if it were a traditionally-shot film. If it were in the same style as Marble Hornets or, to use a Hollywood example, The Blair Witch Project, then I'd definitely agree that a soundtrack would lessen it.

The only thing I think a large budget would really help is probably the effects of the movie. Like take TribeTwelve and multiply that by a thousand. And maybe some good actors, Marble Hornets does an alright job, EverymanHYBRID is pretty good, but TribeTwelve for me is laughably horrendous, especially when he's just videotaping a conversation and he just moves his hands a lot.

A slender man movie would have to have a quite big budget for the computer grafics at least, not just for the slenderman. For example, imagine a victim at a forest and the slenderman captures someone and starts to climb a tree. there's no way a puppet can do all that (unless they show just close ups of certain body parts and just give the impression he's climbing up). Plus there would need for some special effects for the people as well, especially during slender's attacks.

Those would still be some pretty cheap special effects.

cheap as in it needs little money, or as in it would be awful to watch?

Now, let's keep in mind that we probably won't be seeing much of the Slender Man at any one time, and that's just fine. Let's think about how effectively they used shadows, rising tension, and slick editing to keep audiences from ever getting a good look at the xenomorph in the first Alien movie. The alien there was all practical effects, with one really tall, REALLY slender guy in a suit. That could work for the Slender Man too.

Yeah. Just completely whitewash it, put a black suit over it, then make a completely featureless mask to go with it. Shroud it in shadows almost the entire time, and you'll have one scary as heck Slender Man!

I can't decide if Slender Man is now less scary, or tap dancing is now more scary.
