He's always watching you...

Awesome. Y'all should check out Marble Hornets and EverymanHybrid on youtube. They're each a series of videos of people envountering the Slender Man.

I'm a big fan of urban legends...

Another forum I go to also managed a Slender Man influenced thread today. I'm wondering if it's coincidence, or if they're both posted by the same person. >.>

Also, yes. I'm seen lots of fanart, and I watched a bit of EverymanHybrid.

What/Who is "The Slender Man?"

FarmMan1812 wrote:What/Who is "The Slender Man?"
There is an enigmatic figure, most often seen as a tall, extremely thin man with long, strange arms and a blank, featureless face. Where he comes from and what he wants, no one knows. There are old legends around the Black Forest in Germany of a creature who would stalk children through the woods and take them. Often those taken are never found, and sometimes they are found impaled on trees, their organs removed and then replaced.

His presense is associated with powerful paranoia, and those who see him are frequently found maniacally writing strange messages and scribbling mad drawing of a dark, faceless figure.

Often a person will be looking through old videos they've shot and pictures they've taken, and noticed a strange being in them that they never noticed before. This is how it begins. The Slender Man will appear again, and again, closer and closer through his victim's life. They will hear strange things around the house, and even see him in person, though only fleetingly. There is no escape once you have attracted his attention. His presense in videos is often heralded by static and a warped image.

Also, don't look in the corner behind you.

*grins* He's surprisingly easy to find stuff on. Just look up Marble Hornets or EverymanHybrid on youtube. They're the two biggest investigators into the Slender Man.

You'd think they'd just interview the guy who created Slender Man, he's not hard to find.

I invent many wonderous things.... Some of thost people who have worked with my father on several projects have fallen victem to intence paranoia... My fathers good friend, Edward, became so convinced that thge government was after him that he.... Well he is no longer with us.... No supernatural creaturs here... Just several sad and broken men.... May they rest easy... :(

I usually don't believe any urban legends as I see them as devices used to scare children into going to bed early.

And I, am no child.

Because of this thread reminding me of the slender man I kept thinking about him before bed, I was thinking I would end up with nightmares. In fact, I had amazing dreams.

Unfortunately I don't remember exactly what they were about, but I know that it was something super awesome involving ponies. Thanks Slender Man!

Obviously if you're thinking about Slender Man while going to sleep, he gifts you with happy pleasant dreams!

That's how I see what happened anyway.

Well, here's a thought:
  • Imagine the Slender Man's a stick figure with a smiley face.
  • Now imagine you grabbing that smiley face and ripping it into pieces.
  • Now try to fall for another distraction. Now every time you look at the title of this thread, you'll think, who was that guy again?
  • What you do now is that you think about the slender man as a stick with a smiley face of which you ripped off his face into pieces. Nothing more, nothing less.
  • All you have to remember is not to look at this thread ever again, for you "already know" what it's about and there you go! Problem solved.

It's a psychological problem which is often seen many times and can be solved quite easily if you put your mind and effort into it.

The Slender Man is not real, bud. Don't worry.

Oddly enough, my friends and I just watched some Marble Hornets videos today. We were seriously considering making a mannequin to hide in a friend's house.

You guys are braver then me... although I was watching it by myself at night (technically talking to people on Skype between vids, but still)

Does anyone remember the story of when my friend played Amnesia in the dark and I hid behind him, grabbing his shoulders the moment he opened a door? I managed to squeeze the same friend's shoulder during Marble Hornets (when Tim is trying to suppress his cough). It got a similar result.

That symbol either attracts the Slender Man, or repels him. I'm not sure which.
