Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 Campaign anyone?

Anyone up for a little Play-By-Post roleplay EXTRAVAGANZA?

I'm still a bit of a noob as a Dungeon Master, but I have my own group offline I'm DMing for so I do have some experience. It's alright if you guys don't though! The SRD is available here and I can help you with anything not listed due to whatever copyright junk prevents it. I'll try and mix it up with a combination of roleplay heavy and combat heavy challenges, more of one or the other depending on which one you guys like best.

What kind of setting would you guys like? Fantasy Europe Expy, Sci Fi, etc? Should I make the plot heavy with Grey-On-Grey morality or would you rather have more obvious consequences to your decisions? Are you down with fighting COSMIC HORRORS (You know, those aberration things) or would you prefer more typical cannon fodder like orcs and junk?

I think a party of 3-5 players is most manageable, but if more than that feel like playing I could try to squeeze in a second game also, if you don't mind me being slow for both because of it. Also, if every slot gets filled and you still want to play, mark yourself as a backup, someone could drop out of the game due to schedule problems or boredom or something, which would give you a chance to jump in!

EDIT***

Setting is to be the standard, medieval-y with the normal monster fare. I'll keep the choices mostly black and white, but a little gray now and then makes for an interesting plot so everything isn't so obvious. I'll start working out a basic concept of the campaign and the landscape itself, and I'll have made a new character set up thread by the time you've read this.

I would like to be in on this, and don't really care much what the setting is, though I should point out that it might take a bit of extra effort adapting the normal classes to a sci-fi setting.

Only for some of them. Races like orc and goblins should be pretty easy, just call them aliens and such. Giant spiders and the like are just giant spiders, though unlikely to ever be anywhere but on an uninhabited planet. Dragons could be tricky though.

Oh god, Mindflayers in space.

so we take out our dices and throw it around the table for all the rolls? Also, wouldn't the combat heavy take a toll out of the playing time? as in counters and grapples and such. Normally, it does take a long time just to end just one part of the battle =P

There are plenty of online dice rollers if you wanna use those, but since we don't have one of those fancy-shmancy forum dice rollers like DNDOG we'll be relying heavily on the honour system I suppose D:

And combat does take a while, especially through pbp, but how else can things get epic? Diplomatic tension can only go so far :B

Awesome. If anyone else wants to sign up as a backup feel free.

Anyway, so what kind of setting would you guys like? Medieval, sci-fi, post-apocalyptia?

Cosmic horrors or more traditional cannon fodder?

Grey-and-Grey morality or black-and-white morality choices?

I hate to be bland, but I'd like to do traditional fantasy canon stuff. But if I get outvoted, I'm fine with it.

And whichever one is Good vs. Evil and Law vs. Chaos

Maybe.... I am unsure about what to do but I guess I'm interested if you'll take one more player. Are you only accepting Player's Handbook classes and feats and such? This is important as it will determine what I build.

Weeeeeell I suppose one more player won't kill me. But after Djinn recruiting's over guys :B Feel free to place yourself as backups if you want though.

And I'm willing to include anything 3.5. Heck, if you wanted to be a fleshwarper I'd be okay with that. And monster races are fine as long as everyone starts at the same level.

EDIT: Also, Echo, do you mean you're fine with whatever settings are chosen?

Well, I guess I'd be fine with typical, but I'd prefer post-apocalyptic and/or Sci-Fi.

Decided on ranger but am stuck on deciding whether to be a dual-wield or archery ranger or do a multiclass ranger/ rogue, probably gonna wait until the campaign comes. As for the race, I'll see first. =P

Well, depending on the setting I'll change my race, but I'm a Bard, Dwarf, and possibly a vampire later on in the game.

So... wait am I in? If so I'm going to play a Human Wizard but I thought you said you were going to do 5 players?

Also a D&D joke.

Edit: Nevermind, I saw the response. I'm in. ^^ I will be playing an evoker whose forbidden schools are illusion and divination. Now what are the character creation guidelines and when will this be?

Paladins are quite annoying sometimes, not just because they are lawful good, but because of how they are played...

Well, I'll try to be tolerable. I could be an Elven monk, but I'm not sure how useful that'd be.

I have no problems with paladins because I play neutral good characters. My problem is with those PANSY ELVES! (jk)

I wouldn't want to be a necromancer if there are is a cleric and a paladin in the party...just saying.

If you were to be a necromancer I would switch to something besides wizard. I could play a whirling barbarian. Still human though, I never play anything but human and dwarf. Keep in mind that in 3.5 two people of the same class could be completely different from each other if they so desire.

But there won't be a Paladin in the group if he becomes a Necromancer, cuz I'll take Ranger if he switches. However, since I'm fine with being a Paladin, You can stay a ranger. I'll take it if you decide to switch, but I'm fine either way.

Hey Pencil, could you put our desired race/class in the first post through editing? I've lost track of what everybody wants to be.
Also whoever was thinking of being a necromancer you may want to check out Unearthed Arcana. They have a cool feature where you give up your familiar and instead gain a skeletal minion who you can equip and levels up with you. It works really well as long as you can convince people that you're not going to kill them with an undead army.

Edit: As far as setting I don't really care as long as it's explained beforehand so I can make my character appropriately, but I prefer western fantasy and fighting things more like orcs and giants and other fodder.

Will do Djinn, excellent idea.

Also as far as necro's and paladins in the same party, it'd be pretty interesting from a roleplaying standpoint and probably a good combat combo, but at worst it could evolve into confusion and out-of-character conflict if we're not careful.
