"Hmm, yes that should be pretty easy Ambrose" Calder replied while he finished off his own breakfast.Hlaoroo wrote:"Good. Then we'll go straight after breakfast. Shall we go back in to our friends now?" Brock suggests.

"Aye, that I am. Think you could rig up something for me, do you? I reckon Calder here could help make some steel rims for your wheels. His smithing skills are coming along in leaps and bounds. He fixed my chisel for me like it had never been broken. I'm sure Evelyn will fix you up right a rain before you know what hit you. She's never been one to let a creature suffer."

Okay! Charles replied. He smiled at Peter and began walking back to the dining place to get some food.

"Ah, we'll be all right," Peter encouraged before thinking as he loaded his plate. "I'll have to take my sling and some shot, I suppose." He winked at Charles. "I finished fifth in my class at shot practice. I only broke seven vases." He sighed. "Shame I was aiming at paper targets."

Peter waited until he'd swallowed the spoonful of Porridge before he replied to Charles. "Well I've never had a real reason before, have I?" He smiled to hide the nerves. "Don't you worry about me, Charles. I'll be fine. I'll be with you and the Hares, won't I?"

"Aye, we've a great big pile around from the forge. I think there's half an old wheelbarrow there too that got broken and never repaired. You might be able to borrow a wheel or something from that. Excellent. Thank you for offerign to help. I shall see you later in the day when you come to visit me. If I'm not in the cellars then just ask Evelyn where I am because she usually knows where to find me. She's my wife after all." The hedgehog tips Owain a jovial wink as he shakes his paw and then heads over to sit by his wife for breakfast.
"Well, that's our Ambrose for you. A gentle giant, so they say." observes Brum.
"Don't worry. I and my hares will keep you two safe out there." assures the Badger.
"We are indeed a force to be reckoned with. Why, just last season, a shipfull of stoats tried to pillage a village just up the shore from Salamandastron. Thanks to our hares, their attempt was short-lived and fruitless."

"They're right, M'Cariad," Owain muttered with admiration as he continued on his cheeses and breads and drank his water. "So what you going to get up to t'day, Sara?"

"You hear that?" Peter said, trying to be confident, "n-nothing to be worried about."

Calder looked to the Badger lord and Owain "Yes, we should be able to get that done, since you were saying you were lending me something to practice with. We can work on the wheels then later today."
"So Brum, may I join you and get that book on Martin's sword when you go to the library?" Calder asked, hoping to spend some time with Brum today before needing to work.

In the busy kitchen, a familiar figure made her way over to intercept Charles as he entered. "Why thank you... Charlie, wasn't it?" Nanette said, taking the plates off him, "but you really didn't have to, you know?"

Brum points to the ground. "It's red sandstone like this and like the rest of the abbey is made from. There's a reason they call the place Redwall, you know." Brum winks at the mouse. "It'll be going up and down a ramp too. Ambrose will show it to you after. You'll have to get your bag from the gatehouse and move it to your room too. You'd better not forget that. And Sara? Well... why not join us for the day? You'll be most welcome to tag along."

"Ramps, eh," Owain mused, looking up towards the ceiling in thought, "Might need a few 'ook'olds an' pulleys bu' I'll see lat'r." He looked down to the floor. "Good Carreg," he said, "Seen one where th' lord'd been out t' th' West. 'e'd brung back a shiny stone call'd Marble an' laid 'is floor with it. Shiny an' flat. Ne'er seen flatt'r. An' Sara? It'd be our 'onour t' 'ave ya."

At that last, Nanette dropped a plate back into the water. "Peter," she said slowly, "leaving the grounds?" She stared into space for a moment before snapping out of it. "I'd better get you some food. He won't know what's safe out there." She grabbed some fruits and cheeses and tied them up in little bags and gave them to Charlie.
"I just... never had a reason," Peter protested, coming close by. "I'm not that bad am I?"
"No." She looked over to the Cook who was trying to grab her attention. "Gotta go. You look after him, yes?" It wasn't clear if she was addressing Charlie or Peter or even James at that last but Peter said he would as she headed for the cook.

"Sorry, good carr-what? I really must learn to speak your language. You're not the first traveller we've seen from the Marches either. I think it'd be useful to know. Could you teach me some time?" Brum queries.
"I'll have to check and see if we have anything on it already when we go up to the library." Brum drains her cup and pushes back her plate.
