Hey Keesh, could you post Ven officially into the character list? (And I'd appreciate it if you put Rachav there, under Grif's NPC's...)

I need Bucks speaking color to add him.

It used to be #FF0000, if that's any help.

caelei wrote: There's a mountainous region between RV and Haven (and also "cupping" the Haven area to the west as well, I believe). To get to Haven from RV (or vice versa), you could go through the mountains directly (perhaps through a natural pass(?), or else just by having to do a lot of hardcore hiking and risk-taking) or go around (which was the case of my Felix and Pavelle). Grif's group went around as well when they were fleeing RV, but they went to the west end of the mountain range, whereas Pavelle/Felix went northeast to a city (where Pavelle's mother was hospitalized), then left that city and headed west, through the close edge of the forest. I'll draw something up to give you an idea of that, added shortly...
EDIT: It's a terrible approximation and not detailed, but at least it gives the general geography of the region.

Image
Key:
light green = general forest
darker green = denser/thicker forest
blue = water (lake, river, stream, etc.)
yellow = farmland (according to the RV map)
purple w/ peaks/bumps = mountains
grey/buildings = city
"bold/thick" x = dirt circle (where Pavelle, Felix, Conker, Jessica, Jack all met)
"unbolded" x's (w/ arrow) = old camp --> new camp (note that new camp in is darker green, so thicker forest)
The arrows to the sides (to the west "unbolded" and to the east "bolded") of the southern mountains just give an idea the way that, respectively, Grif's camp traveled from the RV area, and Pavelle/Felix traveled from RV.

I'm lost ALOT here.. Why is Rachav going north? wouldn't that take her away from the mountains? Oh.. i see the problem, I have the bikers in the southern mountains, since Swiftpaw has always been scouting and patroling around the river / lake delta, and up in the mountains.
and Rachav thinks there in the northern ones. So there threatening the new camp, not the old one. How are we going to fix this?

To be sure,
RV is to the south, at the bottom of the map. right where the river runs off the page, right?
For a size comparison, "All of RV" will fit into the lake! just north of the mountains.
Just remember that if you think you can get from one side of the map to the other quickly.

Unless North was traveling for days, before he kicked the tree Swiftpaw was in, he didn't come from the city/town shown on the map. So there must be a small town off the edge of the map to the west.

Thanks Caelei. Yar, that's the color I would be using.

I know there are some vague ideas out there of why the bikers are roaming around, but nothing solid. I have an idea that may help forward the plot a little bit... and, of course, add a little bit of unplanned chaos- but in a much different way.

I'm gonna go ahead and post, but if there were other plans I didn't know about, just say so and I'll retcon the post somehow.

Yep. I tried to keep the RV map in mind while creating mine. Richardson Valley's on the other side of the southern mountains on Haven's map. I'm thinking the river that runs through the mountains (which could theoretically be followed up and through the mountains, used as a sort of "pass" perhaps) branches into three smaller rivers, which then are shown at the northern part of the RV map, coming from the north (i.e. the bottom of the map).

And yes. The Haven area is HUGE. It has to be, to be secluded (mainly) from humans, and to host such a large number of animals and "feral" groups.
Unless North was traveling for days, before he kicked the tree Swiftpaw was in, he didn't come from the city/town shown on the map. So there must be a small town off the edge of the map to the west.
That would make the most sense. Sounds good to me.
Hmm. I suppose there could be also be a small mountain town to the north (once again off map). Perhaps an old mining town or something. He came down from the north, walking in a southern direction to the west of the old camp without coming into contact, and then wound up at the very end of the river.
Or his parents could have a cabin in the woods somewhere, who knows.

I guess it just depends on what Roarin planned for North's original whereabouts. On whether or not North came from a big city, a farmhouse, a small city, suburbs, etc.

Fixed the motorcycle problem..

There are the two Swiftpaw found and reported that are in the southern mountains, one on a Yellow (Yamaha) bike, one on a Green (Kawasaki) bike.

And Two more are in the northern mountains on Blue (Honda) bikes, That Sneakers thought were the ones she was talking about, when he got the report and relayed it back to the camps...

the two groups are talking back and forth on walkie talkies.

Well... I'm gonna be a while... I can't come up with a good post...

So far, I have 3 options for Felix...

1. Continue to hold Pavelle with the rational that if she zones out again she'll be left behind. Somehow wrestle her into holding still.

2. Toss/drop Pavelle in such a way is to rapidly put her away from him. This may end in pain for her depending on how hard of a toss it is.

3. Attempt to turn the hitting/fighting into playful wrestling...

Of the options, #2 is most realistic... BUT.. either way, when I start to type... my mind goes blank.. may be a bit...

I didn't mean to like, make you have this huge dilemma on your hands.
Pavelle just wanted him to let her go. Like. Just drop her. I don't think it would hurt her much.
She doesn't want to be carried. What a misbehaving little raccoon we have here. ^^'

I'm just OCD (aka CDO)...

Felix's being nice is being rather difficult with little raccoon not playing along.... which complicates my thinking as he's been nothing but nice aside from blowing up about why he doesn't like the Human's system of continual debts... I'll figure out something when I unfreeze my brain..

Sorry, sorry! I've actually been really busy lately. I've got a visitor from overseas staying for a good while, so checking the forums slipped my mind. (Also, the RP seemed to be moving a smidge slow, and I didn't want to interrupt any current stories by forcing Ven in).

I'll keep up with the RP and post sometime soon, maybe? Though my visitor is still here (and here for another month). I put Ven in that travel situation so I could ease into the story rather than jump into the middle of motorbikes or finding a random den. When I last left Ven, I think the only character he could have feasibly run into was Felix, given Ven's location.

Also, that was two posts, thank you very much. :P

Sorry, too, 'bout being gone or whatever. Doing an Honors project and it's turned into like, a thirty-some page document, and that's just the rough draft...
Plus all the articles I've been reading. Too many. I've been buried in articles.

But anyway.
Sorry about the pace. I just... don't know how to hurry it along. I didn't want to have to set a minimum posting limit or something, like one post every two days or whatever, because some people prefer to go faster or slower or whatever. I'm kinda terrible at actually doing something useful in my posts. I'm working on it. Bear with me.

Sorry, sorry!
Been busy lately. College. Life. All that and much, much more!
But really, college is my life. Can't wait til after finals!

Anywho.
Concerning the rp.
I don't want to hold people back, but before I post in PF I just want to figure out a way to like... stop the rp from revolving around my characters. I don't like that. My charries are dramatic, sometimes ridiculous, honestly not very well-written, attention hogs (despite none of them being actual hogs), and I don't want them to play such a large role in everything that's happening. Like. I want others to do things. Take initiative. Or whatever. I mean... I created Haven (with help!). But I feel like I need to get to a place where it can function without relying on just my characters. Otherwise it won't be fun for anyone. It'll just be the 'caelei' show and nobody wants to sit around and watch that. Trust me. It's terribly dull.

So... any suggestions? I could advertise in the main boards for more players or something. But somehow I need to withdraw some of my own characters. Maybe fade Rachav into the background, or out completely for a while (I see an obvious, easy way to do that) and back off from Grif, too, if I can help it-- though I don't want to abandon Keesh. I mean, Pavelle and Felix were supposed to be my actual characters, and then I got carried away or something. I don't know.

So... anybody? Suggestions?

Stop making them.
You're actually pretty good at all this, as we keep telling you, but you do have alot of minor characters that you've brought in, who are taking up alot of the spotight. Actually, you have about as many active right now as I've brought in in BsM, which has been running for a while now...

I suggest not making any more minor characters like that, not having them jump in until necessary, and in the mean time, consider handing some of them over to Keeshah, or another good player who can keep up with it...

Maybe try and keep your extra characters to smaller-ish roles that we can, as needed skip? Or make them/others 'community' type characters that anyone can use as needed? (Not quite ideal, but, things keep moving)...

Yeah, I plan on ousting Rachav (for now), and then maybe bringing her back later (but as a regular NPC).
As for Grif, I want to back off him as much as I can. I just don't want to leave Kikyo or Swiftpaw hanging without anyone to interact with (besides random NPC's), or North.

So pretty much I should just stick to small roles and limit number characters (which honestly I should have just done from the beginning).

Well... Grif and Pavelle seem to be your main characters in play, so I would feel free to post as much as you want with them, but you are right to consider minimizing the NPC activity: they're there to move the story along, not to alter it. That's the main characters' job...

Rathar than waiting and wondering where they are, you can try and find them to tell them you're waiting on them. They might not even know it's their turn...
